Background
Edit
Bazett was born in Ireland as a descendant of an old family of magi that had detached itself from the Mages' Association and lived in the shadows quietly. Her family possesses a Sorcery Trait known as Traditional Carriers – God’s Holders, which allows them to pass on their abilities through bloodline rather than teachings. Wishing to pursue a different path than that of her ancestors, she chose to join the Association. Despite Bazett's rare lineage, her skills were not judged as being particularly useful and she was dismissed. Instead, she employed her abilities to become a hunter of those that had been given a Sealing Designation.
During her missions, Bazett met Kirei Kotomine, a member of the Church. As she told him her story, she quickly came to trust him and was very happy when he invited her to become a Master in the 5th Holy Grail War. However, after she summoned the Servant, Lancer and prepared to join the War, she was betrayed by Kotomine, who stole Lancer's command spell and chopped off her left arm. Having only lived to fight for four days in the Grail War, Bazett was left to die.
Bazett had always intended to summon Lancer for the 5th war. The reason behind her motive was her desire to save him since childhood. As a dispassionate and desolate child, Bazett found herself immersed with the story of Cú Chulainn, finding herself grieving over such a tragedy that was his legend, at the same time, finding a purpose for herself. She strove to become a strong magus, gambling in the wild hopes of summoning him and using the Holy Grail as a means of "saving" him from his inevitable fate.
Personality
Edit
Bazett is a fairly serious, kind, and hardworking individual, who possesses a strong sense of justice. She can be short-tempered, yet still calculating. While she presents herself as a strong-willed and mature woman, in truth she is actually rather lonely. She is 23 years old.
Role
Edit
In the beginning of the story, Bazett wakes up without any memory as to what happened to her after she lost consciousness. Believing the 5th Holy Grail War is still being fought, she finds herself in the company of a new and unfamiliar Servant, Avenger. Lancer, the Servant she recalls summoning, is no where to be found.
Together, the mismatched partners set off in the night to defeat their opponents and win the Grail. However, they find themselves in an unexplainable time loop that lasts four days, beginning on the fourth day of the current Grail War. Each time Bazett is killed or the fourth day ends, she awakes on the first day of the loop.
Bazett eventually learns the truth: that the war has been over for half a year and that she was betrayed by Kotomine. As she lay dying, she heard a voice, the essence of the Holy Grail's power, giving her a second chance at life. The voice (later revealed to be Avenger's) made a pact to continue the war so that she would not have to die. They became partners and the time loop resulted.
Realizing that they had to end the loop, Bazett and Avenger come to realize each other’s wishes. Bazett knows that Avenger wishes to remain in the artificial world created by their agreement and enjoy his own life as an actual person and not a Servant. However, Avenger believes it is more important for Bazett to live her life; in truth, when he first found her, she was still alive, albeit barely. Avenger had managed to keep her alive for half a year until a woman from the Church found her and nursed her back to health. With the courage to finally face reality, the two part ways.
Bazett finally wakes up and the loop ends.
After the end, she ends up living in Shirou's house, taking advantage of his good nature.
Abilities
Edit
Bazett is a specialist in physical combat and employs runic sorcery on her limbs, hands, and feet to increase her fighting potential. She is also a skilled mage overall. She is the current holder of Fragarach.
Between Bazett, Kuzuki Souchirou , and Kirei Kotomine, she is the strongest in terms of pure power. Kotomine at his peak in Fate/Zero is noted as being stronger overall. Kuzuki would always win with a surprise attack, and in a fair hand-to-hand fight, he would always win the first fight due to his unique Snake fighting style. As a expert in hand to hand fighting, she would be able to win a second encounter almost completely. He could drive Saber into a corner as long as his style was hidden, but Servants are those more emphasized by their talent than martial abilities. She should be able to adapt to it more quickly, but she may also be easily beaten if she underestimates him as only a normal person.[1][2]

Comptiq 2006 issue 7 -Q: If Bazett and Kuzuki got in a hand-to-hand fight against each other, who would win? A: If it's the first fight, then Kuzuki will win. If it's the second fight, then Bazett would pretty much completely win. Kuzuki could even drive Saber into a corner as long as his trick was kept hidden, but Bazett is also an expert at hand-to-hand combat thought of and developed by human beings. There's the possibility that she might adapt to Kuzuki's "snake" quicker than the Servants, who are more emphasized by their talent. However, since she might underestimate Kuzuki-sensei as being a normal person, Bazett could be beaten pretty simply. - ↑
Q. Between Kotomine, Bazett, Kuzuki, Melty Blood’s Miyako, and Kishima Kouma, who’d be the top 3 in a purely hand to hand fight with no weapons or magecraft? English | Japanese A. I’m excluding Kouma since his existence itself has become a mystery. And even if he didn’t have that nature, he’s like an athlete caught by drug testing. Out of the four left, the winner in pure strength is Bazett. If it’s limited to one match and a surprise attack, then it’s Kuzuki. And if it’s the Kotomine from ten years ago, he’s stronger than Bazett overall.
