Bazett Fraga McRemitz (バゼット・フラガ・マクレミッツ, Bazetto Furaga MakuRemittsu?) is the original Master of Lancer during the Fifth Holy Grail War. She was sent from the Mage's Association, but was betrayed by Kirei Kotomine and left fatally wounded. Her life is saved by Avenger, and she acts as his Master during Fate/hollow ataraxia.
Profile
Background
Bazett was born in Ireland as a descendant of an old family of magi that had detached itself from the Mages' Association and lived in the shadows quietly. Wishing to pursue a different path than that of her ancestors, she chose to join the Association. Despite Bazett's rare lineage, her skills were not judged as being particularly useful and she was dismissed. Instead, she employed her abilities to become a hunter of those that had been given a Sealing Designation.
During her missions, Bazett met Kirei Kotomine, a member of the Church. Back when he was active as an executor working for the Church, they often ran into each other on assignments and fought together as comrades. Bazett and Kirei became friends and as she told him her story, she quickly came to trust him and was very happy when he invited her to become a Master in the 5th Holy Grail War. When the opposing faction of the Association sent an observer, Bazett killed the magus.[2] So, when Kirei, who until then had never relied on her even once, said he wanted to meet with her, Bazett was secretly elated. With no reason to doubt him, she walked right into his trap. She summoned her Servant, Lancer, by using Cu Chulainn's earrings as a catalyst. She was prepared to join the War but she was betrayed by Kotomine, she didn't even have time to call out Lancer when he chopped off her left arm and her Command Spells were stolen.[3] Having only lived to fight for four days in the Grail War, Bazett was left to die.
Appearance
She is 23 years old. Bazett is a very demure woman who often wears a black, two piece business suit with a red-violet necktie. She has short, Magenta hair and a mole just below her left eye. Bazett often occupanies her attire with two ovaloid earrings that were once worn by Cú Chulainn.
Personality
Bazett is a fairly serious, kind, and hardworking individual, who possesses a strong sense of justice. She can be short-tempered, yet still calculating. While she presents herself as a strong-willed and mature woman, in truth she is actually rather lonely.
Bazett had always intended to summon Lancer for the 5th war. The reason behind her motive was her desire to save him since childhood. As a dispassionate and desolate child, Bazett found herself immersed with the story of Cú Chulainn, finding herself grieving over such a tragedy that was his legend, at the same time, finding a purpose for herself. She strove to become a strong magus, gambling in the wild hopes of summoning him and using the Holy Grail as a means of "saving" him from his inevitable fate.
Role
Fate/hollow ataraxia
In the beginning of the story, Bazett wakes up without any memory as to what happened to her after she lost consciousness. Believing the 5th Holy Grail War is still being fought, she finds herself in the company of a new and unfamiliar Servant, Avenger. Lancer, the Servant she recalls summoning, is no where to be found.
Together, the mismatched partners set off in the night to defeat their opponents and win the Grail. However, they find themselves in an unexplainable time loop that lasts four days, beginning on the fourth day of the current Grail War. Each time Bazett is killed or the fourth day ends, she awakes on the first day of the loop.
Bazett eventually learns the truth: that the war has been over for half a year and that she was betrayed by Kotomine. As she lay dying, she heard a voice, the essence of the Holy Grail's power, giving her a second chance at life. The voice (later revealed to be Avenger's) made a pact to continue the war so that she would not have to die. They became partners and the time loop resulted.
Realizing that they had to end the loop, Bazett and Avenger come to realize each other’s wishes. Bazett knows that Avenger wishes to remain in the artificial world created by their agreement and enjoy his own life as an actual person and not a Servant. However, Avenger believes it is more important for Bazett to live her life; in truth, when he first found her, she was still alive, albeit barely. Avenger had managed to keep her alive for half a year until a woman from the Church found her and nursed her back to health. With the courage to finally face reality, the two part ways.
Bazett finally wakes up and the loop ends.
After the end, she ends up living in Shirou's house, taking advantage of his good nature.
Fate/Unlimited Codes
Bazett is a playable character in the PS2 and PSP edition of Fate/unlimited codes, she is known as the Master of the Multi-Reverse Punch (繰り返す逆月の主, Kurikaesu Gyakutsuki no Nushi?). In her story, Bazett starts off waking up with memories loss. She remembers she was dispatch by the Mage Association to watch over Fuyuki Holy Grail War, she was ordered as a Sealing Designation Enforcer to deal with any opposing enemies such as Master and Servants. She was to secure the Holy Grail for the Mage Association. Bazett is confident to take on any heroes even if it was Cu Chulainn.
She encounters Lancer in front of the Fuyuki church. Lancer instantly recognizes Bazett and calls her stubborn for her survival, he wanted to celebrate their reunion with drinks but he is ordered by Kirei to do his bidding. Kirei questions whether Bazett would be obedient enough to hand over the Grail to the Association, though Bazett confirms that she is doing this to prove her worthiness to the Association. Kirei founds humanity interesting and fights against her. Bazett falls after she won, her body becomes numb and her headache continues. Bazett realizes that she will go through another repetition of the Holy Grail War when she falls asleep and she regrets that she couldn't come up with a wish. Capsule Servant
In Shirou's route, she encounters Shirou who initially thought Bazett was a man. Bazett calls herself as the temp Heroic Spirit FRAGA. She was dispatched by the Heroic Spirit Association in order to save the world from crisis. She explains that out of all the Parallel world, the Capsule Servants only exist in this one. She orders Shirou to hand all of his Servants over to her as they are too dangerous for children to have (in the allowance-related sense). Shirou commented FRAGA's clothing was pretty normal for a Heroic Spirit, he expected Heroic Spirit to have cool outfits and Noble Phantasms. FRAGA says her suit is order-made, she considers the fabric is very nice and her Noble Phantasm are her fists. Shirou questions how FRAGA became a Heroic Spirit, she claims she kept up her daily routine consisting of 5000 push-ups a day, 5000 sit-ups, and 100 km of running. Shirou further questions if she is satisfied with that kind of life.
Seven years later, she forms a contract with Shirou. FRAGA becomes Boxer, the Heroic Spirit of the fist. FRAGA beats up Gilgamesh and Lancer. She looks forward to take on Berserker and being hired as an official Heroic Spirit.[4]
In Rin's route, Bazett appears and orders Avenger to return to her capsule. She wants Avenger back because Avenger is her only friend but she claims that lucky talking Servant is an illegal Servant designated to be sealed and the Mage's Association dispatched her to recover that Servant. Avenger yells out to Bazett as a liar and a terrible person to abuse Capsule Servant, he tells that Bazett makes him go shopping, clean, and take her phone calls. He also complains about Bazett keeps feeding him beef bowl for breakfast, lunch and dinner which drove him to the height of insanity. His complaints has made Bazett appear to be a lonely woman whose only friend is a Servant, Bazett tries to prove she has friends by showing the contact list on her phone. However Avenger pointed out the list are all business contacts and Bazett angered by this and challenges Rin. After Bazett defeat, she reveals she doesn’t have a single friend and Avenger is her only friend. Both Rin and Avenger felt guilty, Rin asked Avenger to return to Bazett and Avenger agrees as they both bullied Bazett a bit too hard and it leaves a bad aftertaste. Bazett asks Avenger to return as they are friends. Rin questions why Bazett want Avenger so badly, Bazett replies that she would rather have Lancer because she keeps getting doubles of Avenger. Rin decides to give Lancer to Bazett and to her surprise; Lancer is a lucky one and he can speak. Lancer tries to convince Rin that she can’t trade him away and they are compatible like a dream team. Bazett was happy to trade Avenger for Lancer as she claims Avenger to be rude and super weak. However both Lancer and Avenger tried to convince not to trade.[5]
Bazett also appears in Rin and Celebloomers ending. Rin was using Archer's unique Projection skills to replicate infinite Servants and selling them. Bazett in her skimpy police uniform was under the request from the Association to investigate the rise of Servant sales in this area. She encounters Rin and was about to arrest Rin for illegal Servant counterfeiting. Rin couldn't help laughing at Bazett's uniform and she was surprise to learn that her activity was illegal. Bazett was very shocked at the East's decline in morals and was surprised to see someone counterfeiting Capsaba out in the public. Bazett chases after Archer and Rin escape.[5]
Other appearances
Her counterpart in Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA☆ILLYA appears in 2wei and 3rei.
In the anime adaptation of Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works], Bazett was indirectly mentioned by Atrum Galliasta. Atrum hands over a letter to Kirei Kotomine, the letter was a contract selling the right to eliminate Caster. He was hoping to use Lancer to kill Caster to avoid having to use a Command Spell to accomplish the task.
In Type-Moon's April Fools' Day 2008, she is a super heavyweight wrestler star known as the Iron Fist Thunder Bazett (鉄拳サンダーバゼット, Tekken Sandā Bazetto?) in the T Moon Fighting Spirit (Tムーン 闘魂, T Mūn Tōkon?). Bazett was originally a generalist. No matter what kind of enemy she faces in the ring. She is ready to fight courageously using good pro wrestling. The inner turmoil of the warring factions within the sports have no interest for her. Right after the bell rang to start the match, rough play ensued, causing terrible bloodshed. While Lunatic Akiha is no stranger to difficult opponents, she soon fell into the trap of her opponent's carefully measured punch attacks. Soon Akiha's rival played her trump card - the dreaded Firaga Hellspace. Bazett won the match with in 15 minutes, 42 seconds. Bazett had carefully calculated what the effect was going to be and won the match. Lunatic Akiha, in the spirit of good sportsmanship, said that Bazett looked good as a cross-dresser.
In Type-Moon's April Fools' Day 2009, moon.cinemas.jp is a fake movie theater site listing a number of parody films. She was featured in Mysterious Planet An Sa Ra (不思議惑星アン・サ・ラ, Fushigi Wakusei An Sa Ra?).
In Type-Moon's April Fools' Day 2015, Bazett is in a group called YARIO and is part of the Imperial Roma talent agency, her class is Farm Idol Unit (牧歌的アイドルニット, Bokukateki Aidoru Yunitto?) and they are soon to debut. They like farming and likes live concert at the farm. Their favourite quote is "There's nothing we can't do!"
Abilities
Bazett is a specialist in physical combat and employs runic sorcery on her limbs, hands, and feet to increase her fighting potential. She is also a skilled mage overall. Her family possesses a Sorcery Trait known as Traditional Carriers – God’s Holders, which allows them to pass on their abilities through bloodline rather than teachings. She is the current holder of Fragarach.
She probably would have ended up being a threat to Rin Tohsaka if she had been able to participate in the war.[3] In Fate/hollow ataraxia, Bazett confronts Rin Tohsaka and Shirou Emiya. Shirou says that Bazett's power as a magus is easily three times that of Rin, and Bazett could have easily defeated both Rin and Shirou if she chose to attack. Between Bazett, Souichirou Kuzuki, and Kirei Kotomine, she is the strongest in terms of pure power. Kotomine at his peak in Fate/Zero is noted as being stronger overall. Kuzuki would always win with a surprise attack, and in a fair hand-to-hand fight, he would always win the first fight due to his unique Snake fighting style.[6] As an expert in hand-to-hand fighting, she would be able to win a second encounter almost completely. He could drive Saber into a corner as long as his style was hidden, but Servants are those more emphasized by their talent than martial abilities. She should be able to adapt to it more quickly, but she may also be easily beaten if she underestimates him as only a normal person.[7]
Development
She was to originally be a character developed for the potential Tsukihime 2 along with Caren Hortensia, but she was redesigned for Fate instead.
Reception
Otome said that among the new characters, Caren, Bazett and Avenger were the most unique. Otome was glad to send them out into the world.

Lancer's original Master.
Fate unknown.
She was a foreign magus dispatched by the Association, and summoned Lancer using a pair of rune stone earrings as the catalyst.
A beautiful woman dressed as a man, her abilities as a magus are top-notch.
She is an enforcer, tasked with the capture of sealing designated magi. Essentially, an existence similar to the executors of the Holy Church. She is extremely skilled in both sorcery and martial arts.
Though she probably would have ended up being a threat to Rin if she had been able to participate in the war, she was taken out prematurely by a surprise attack from Kotomine.
The reason for that is because she and Kotomine were actually old friends. Back when Kotomine was still an executor working for the Church, they often ran into each other on assignments and fought together as comrades.
So, when Kotomine, who until then had never relied on her even once, said he wanted to meet with her, Miss Bazett was secretly elated. With no reason to doubt him, she walked right into his trap.
She didn't even have time to call out Lancer, before Kotomine cleanly sliced off her left arm from behind and stole her command spells.
Afterward, he gave Lancer two commands.
The first was to make him accept Kotomine as his Master, while the second was to make him gather intelligence.
As for what the final command spell was used for, that's covered in the story itself.パゼット・フラガ・マクレミッツ【人名】
