Sword of Selection, grant me power! Cleave the wicked! 'Caliburn'!”
Caliburn: Golden Sword of the Victorious (勝利すべき黄金の剣, Shōrisubeki Ōgon no Ken?, also translated as Golden Sword of Assured Victory) is the holy sword that is the symbol of the king pulled from the stone of appointment by King Arthur under the guidance of Merlin. With the words "Whoso pulleth out this sword of this stone is rightwise king of all England" engraved in a golden inscription on its hilt, it became the symbol of England's king of knights once it was pulled from the stone. It looks similar to Excalibur, which she later received from the Lady of the Lake, but it is a different sword and its characteristics as a Noble Phantasm also differ. It is not as strong of a sword as Excalibur, as the swords of kings are often lowered to the role of fancy decorations due to being symbols of authority. The cost of being a dazzling sword is that its grade as a weapon is inferior to Excalibur. It was broken in a battle in which the rules of chivalry had been broken by Arthur, and she later received the new holy sword of the Lady of the Lake. Despite that, she has a stronger attachment to Caliburn.
Merlin claimed that she would "no longer be human" after taking hold of it, as a king is someone who kills everyone to protect everyone. Once she pulled it from the stone, the area filled with light, making her something inhuman and stopped her physical aging. Many knights thought it to be ominous while most praised their master's immortality as divine. After the sword was destroyed, Avalon later granted the same properties.
Originally a sword for the sake of selecting the king. Its "Anti-Unit" classification does not refer to the enemy, but instead point to the one who shall have ownership over it from now on. When the owner turns into a proper, perfected king its power will become appropriate for a holy sword. Although inferior to Excalibur, this holy sword also converts the magic energy of the owner into heat value, releasing it as particles of light. If this is employed in battle as a weapon, and its True Name is released, a firepower on the same scale as Excalibur will be displayed, but its blade will probably be unable to withstand Artoria's Magical energy and break.
Though it is a weapon forever lost that will never exist again, Shirou Emiya, upon seeing Saber's memories in his dreams, becomes able to project it during the Fate route. Due to having no real experience with projection, the weapon mostly uses the stored memories of Saber wielding it to attack and defend while merely pulling Shirou along. Despite being weaker than Excalibur, it is still a very strong sword capable of cutting through God Hand. Once used by Saber and Shirou at the same time, they are able to smash through Berserker's axe-sword, slash into his body, and release an attack of light similar to Excalibur from the inside that kills him seven times with a single attack. It is derived from swords with similar legends, Gram, "the sword of supremacy in the tree" from Northern Europe as itself was the model for it, including Merodach the original model of the "legends of swords of selection in the various lands of the world", and "the foundation of the sacred right to select the king" and as if it were to face them, it would lose due to being a newer incarnation.

Caliburn: Golden Sword of the Victorious
The figure of Altria from after she drew out the sword of selection Caliburn, and had just began walking down the path of a king.
A girl-knight who is still somewhat half-assed.
Such figure is much like that of a lovely lily, and also, her eyes are filled with glittering hope.
While wandering around all over the country in order to experience many things, she left behind many adventure stories. It seems that those she saved praised her flamboyance as a knight-princess.
Level 1 Bond
Source: Arthurian Legends
Alignment: Lawful Good Gender: Female
Although the training to become a king is harsh, I'm happy so long I can take care of the horses.
Level 2 Bond
A romantic knight who practices daily in order to become the ideal king.
Although still half-assed, her girlishness has not been wiped away yet and her heart is filled with hopes and dreams.
Her party during the tour round the country was composed by her step-brother, Sir Kay, and the attendant magus Merlin, and it was mostly something like things starting with Altria's meddling, becoming out of hand with Merlin's chaffing and Kay ending up covering for everybody's asses.
Level 3 Bond
- Instinct: A
The ability to always "grasp" the most suitable developments for oneself during battle.
Her sharpened sixth sense is already close to premonitions of the future.
Reduces by half hindrances that interfere with the senses of sight and hearing.
However, having a good intuition is also problematic. At any rate, because she ends up grasping the troubles of the people that catch her eyes, she unconsciously ends up giving a helping hand to each new person she meets.
Level 4 Bond
"Golden Sword of Compelled Victory"
Rank: B (conditionally A+) Type: Anti-Unit
Originally a sword for the sake of selecting the king. Its "Anti-Unit" classification does not refer to the enemy, but instead point to the one who shall have ownership over it from now on. When the owner turns into a proper, perfected king its power will become appropriate for a holy sword.
Level 5 Bond
A destiny's child born to save the Isle of Britain, which was heading towards ruin due the fading of mystery.
An "incarnation of the dragon" created by the plan of the previous king, Uther, and the magus Merlin. Because of this, she is liken to the red dragon that protects Britain.
Possessing the heart of a dragon, which belongs to the top-ranks of the Phantasm Species, the amount of magical energy she can generate inside her body overwhelms other Heroic Spirits.
Caliburn and Excalibur are two different holy swords.
In a sense, Caliburn was something for the sake of rearing King Arthur as a king, a member of royalty.
Originally, Caliburn was meant for ceremonial-use.
If this is employed in battle as a weapon, and its True Name is released, a firepower on the same scale as Excalibur will be displayed, but its blade will probably be unable to withstand Altria's magical energy and break.

Golden Sword of Assured Victory
A holy sword appearing in Arthurian legend, just like Excalibur. Refers to the sword Arthur pulled from the stone when he became king. For Saber it is a friendlier, more nostalgic sword than Excalibur.
As symbol of the king’s authority, it is more extravagantly adorned than Excalibur. Because of this, its performance as a weapon is also lower than Excalibur’s.
In the legends, Caliburn is broken when King Arthur engages in a fight contrary to the principles of chivalry. Afterward, he receives a new sword, Excalibur, from the fairy of the lake. There is some debate about whether or not Excalibur was reforged from Caliburn, or if they were two completely different swords from the start.
