Class Cards (クラスカード, Kurasu Kādo?) are items created for the Ainsworth Holy Grail War in the place of Servants. There are two sets, the first appearing within Fuyuki and the second being in the hands of the Ainsworths.
Nature
Ilya installing a Class Card.
Each of the seven cards correspond to one of the seven Servant Classes, utilizing the default class imagery to mark them. They draw out the power of Heroic Spirits, and the Mage's Association is unable to analyze them in any manner. The cards have a portion of the Heroic Spirits power sealed inside them, and it can be said that they are the Heroic Spirits themselves.
They can manifest by gathering prana from the land. Those from the first set are shown to be deteriorating when manifested, deviating from their original appearance and shown no longer have any of their reasoning. Archer from the second set is able to partially manifest while keeping his form. The Heroic Spirits form around their Class Cards, utilizing them as their heart.
It is possible utilize the power of the cards with a Kaleidostick or by being one of the Ainsworth's creations. With the Include: Limit Expand (限定展開, Gentei Tenkai?) method, it temporarily materializes the weapon or Noble Phantasm of the hero until the Card is Unincluded. The true purpose of the Cards is to temporarily become a hero by accessing their full abilities. Install: (夢幻召喚, Mugen Shōkan?) grants the Noble Phantasm, appearance, and skills of the Heroic Spirit. The user obtains a "fraction of their power", their own existence "overwritten" by that of a hero's existence. There is also Kaleid Install, both Kaleidostick wielders using a single card together, utilizing the weapons of a Servant.
First set
Saber
- Location: The Saber Class Card is found in the same location as the Caster Class Card, near the large bridge.
- Heroic Spirit: The Heroic Spirit of the Saber Class Card is King Arthur. When manifested, she takes the appearance of Saber Alter. She utilizes a black barrier mist made of dense prana as both an offensive and defensive ability. It automatically blocks all magic attacks directed towards her, and she can direct it with her sword to launch it as a projectile at the enemy. It is strong enough to easily pierce through powerful barriers, and even if it is blocked, her swordplay with Excalibur is able to easily overwhelm all opponents.
- Noble Phantasm: The Class Card manifests Excalibur, a holy sword capable of releasing a large beam against the opponent. Like her corrupted appearance, Excalibur also takes the form of Black Excalibur.
- Retrieval: Saber appears after the retrieval of Caster. She overwhelms Illya and Miyu, and even Rin and Luvia utilizing the Kaleidosticks are only able to damage her enough that her barrier is destroyed. She then utilizes Excalibur to easily defeat them. Chloe, channeled from within Illya, then installs the Archer Class Card, and she manages to destroy Saber with a projected version of Excalibur.
- Include: Including Saber gives a copy of Excalibur.
- Install: Installing the Class Card gives the user Excalibur and King Arthur's regular, uncorrupted armor. However when Ilya use Saber Card Card, she wore Saber Lily armor instead of the original.
- Kaleid Install: Utilizing both Kaleidosticks brings about nine copies of Excalibur that are simultaneously released.
Archer
- Location: The Archer Class Card was originally found in London.
- Heroic Spirit: The Heroic Spirit of the Archer Class is EMIYA.
- Noble Phantasm: The Class Card gives its user an ability to manifest various Noble Phantasms via the use of Unlimited Blade Works.
- Retrieval: It was retrieved by the Mage's Association before Lord El-Melloi II give the Archer Class to one of his students, Rin Tohsaka. Later it was revealed that Bazett Fraga McRemitz was the one who retrieved the Archer Class Card along with the Lancer Class Card.
- Include: Including the Class Card gives the user Archer's bow.
- Install: Installing the Class Card gives the user Kanshou & Bakuya, Rho Aias, Caladbolg II and gives the user Archer's clothing.
Lancer
- Location: The Lancer Class Card was originally found in London.
- Heroic Spirit: The Heroic Spirit of the Lancer Class is Cu Chulainn.
- Noble Phantasm: The Class Card manifests Gae Bolg.
- Retrieval: It was retrieved by the Mage's Association before Lord El-Melloi II give the Lancer Class to one of his students, Luviagelita Edelfelt. Later it was revealed that Bazett Fraga McRemitz was the one who retrieved the Acher Class Card along with the Lancer Class Card.
- Include: Including Lancer gives the user a copy of Gae Bolg.
- Install: Installing the Class Card gives the user Cu Chulainn's spear Gae Bolg and his clothing.
Rider
- Location: The Rider Class Card is found in the center of the schoolyard.
- Heroic Spirit: The Heroic Spirit of the Rider Class Card is Medusa. When manifested, her appearance is altered in a number of ways. Her dress, armwear, and leggings have a tattered appearance, and they leave a number of small patterns on her skin. Breaker Gorgon is greatly changed, showing a pattern with an eye in the middle. She fights straightforwardly with her dagger, overpowering her opponent.
- Noble Phantasm: The Class Card manifests a Pegasus and Bellerophon, a bridle allowing for the Pegasus to utilize its full power charge. The manifested Rider uses the version launched from a magic circle.
- Retrieval: Rin and Ilya are unable to do any lasting damage due to Ilya's inexperience. Before Rider can use Bellerophon, Miyu arrives and uses Gae Bolg to slay her and obtain the Class Card.
- Install: Installing the Class Card gives the user Medusa's uncorrupted clothing and Breaker Gorgon, access to the Mystic Eyes of Petrification upon removing Breaker Gorgon, and the ability to summon the Pegasus. They can turn Medusa's dagger into Bellerophon's bridle of light, allowing them to force the Pegasus to charge. However when Illya install, she wears an eyepatch instead.
Caster
- Location: The Caster Class Card is found near Fuyuki Bridge.
- Heroic Spirit: The Heroic Spirit of the Caster Card is Medea. When she manifested, her appearance is slightly altered. Her cloak and dress have a tattered appearance with white fur drapped across the shoulders.
- Noble Phantasm: The Class Card manifests Argon Coin and the spell Rain of Light.
- Retrieval: Miyu uses Gae Bolg to slay her and obtain the Class Card with the help of Illya.
- Include: Including Caster gives the user a copy of Rule Breaker.
- Install: Installing the card gives the user Medea's dress and magic staff minus the hood as well as her knowledge of ancient magecraft.
Assassin
- Location: The Assassin Class Card is found in the Fuyuki Forest.
- Heroic Spirit: The Heroic Spirit of the Assassin Card is Hassan-i-Sabbah. When manifested, their appearance is similar to the original except all of their masks are slightly cracked and is shaped like a cyclops instead.
- Noble Phantasm:The Class Card manifests Zabaniya: Delusional Illusion
- Retrieval: Since Illya was at the brink of death, she unknowningly released her mana in a massive explosion and managed to defeat the Assassin Class Card, but as a result, she injured Miyu and the others.
- Include: Including Assassin lets the Kaleidostick become a physical copy of the person who Included.
- Install: Installing Assassin gives the user a version of Assassin's garb, use of their daggers and transforms the Kaleidostick into one of Assassin's skull masks. Once clad like this, the user can still make use of the duplicates with Zabaniya, but also gains the ability of Assassin's Presence Concealment.
Berserker
- Location: The Berserker Class Card is located inside a building, and the size of the barrier is much smaller than that of previous Class Cards.
- Heroic Spirit: The Heroic Spirit of the Berserker Card is Heracles. When manifested, he has the same appearance as he normally does in the Berserker class. He does not have his axe-sword, instead only using his fists to fight and God Hand to revive. As he continues to battle, his elbow protrusions begin to grow into a number of spikes and similar protrusions begin to grow on his body.
- Noble Phantasm: Berserker uses God Hand to protect against weak attacks and continually revive, and Nine Lives is stored within but not manifested by him.
- Retrieval: Miyu is completely overwhelmed by Berserker after she manages to kill him once with Gae Bolg. Installing the Saber Class Card is able to allow her to fight him back and strike with Excalibur, but it proves ineffective in fully killing him. Illya arrives before Berserker can finish Miyu off, and while Rin and Luvia briefly hold him down, Miyu and Illya use Kaleid Install with the Saber Class Card to finish him off.
- Include: Including the Class Card grants Nine Lives in the form of Berserker's large axe-sword.
Second set
Archer
- Location: The Archer Class Card is found in a location deep underground beneath Fuyuki.
- Heroic Spirit: The Heroic Spirit of the Archer Card is Gilgamesh. At first he appears as a black shadow of his original form, completely covered in black mud, but during the battle with Illya is it revealed that he has a form of his younger self underneath it. After being defeated, these two separate permanently, child Gilgamesh half-incarnating while shadow Gilgamesh being sealed within its Class Card.
- Noble Phantasm: The Class Card manifests a massive amount of various Noble Phantasms through the use of the Gate of Babylon.
- Retrieved: Archer was defeated by Illya's Zwei Form with the combined power of Ruby and Sapphire. Immediately after that, the Archer Class Card was obtained by Angelica.
- Install: Installing the Class Card gives the user Archer's golden armor and tattoos, along with the Gate of Babylon.
Berserker
- Location: The Berserker Class Card is held by Beatrice Flowerchild of the Ainsworth family.
- Heroic Spirit: The Heroic Spirit of the Berserker Class Card is the thunder god of Scandinavian mythology, ThorWP. He is the strongest of the gods whose worship surpassed even the All-Father, OdinWP. The Class Card has not been shown to have manifested itself.
- Noble Phantasm: The Class Card manifests Mjolnir, a massive hammer that controls lightning.
- Include: Including the Class Card gives the user a massive arm capable of great feats of immense strength.
- Install: Installing the Class Card gives the user the arm, Thor's clothing, and Mjolnir.
Unknown
Using unknown Class Cards, Darius Ainsworth utilizes Apneic Beauty, Authoritarian Personalism, and an unnamed dagger.
Disposable Sets
The disposable cards are Ainsworth failed products. They do not belong to any Heroic Spirit but the quantity of the cards make up for their lack of power.
- Include: Including the Card gives the user Nameless (無名, Mumei?) weapons. The cards gives out black shadows in the form of Shield, Sword, Axe, Spear and Claw
Role
The first set of Class Cards, along with Miyu, first appear within Fuyuki after part of the parallel world is switched with part of the main world, causing 180 meters of woods to vanish over the cavern.
