Fate hollow ataraxialogo

Fate/hollow ataraxia (フェイト/ホロウアタラクシア, Feito/horou atarakushia?) is a visual novel game created by TYPE-MOON in 2005 which is the sequel to Fate/stay night. The word "ataraxia" in the title is a Greek term for "tranquility", giving the title the combined meaning of "empty (or false) tranquility".

Setting

The plot of Fate/hollow ataraxia is based half a year after the events of Fate/stay night. Like its preceding counterpart, the story is set in Fuyuki City. It does not appear to follow a particular route from Fate/stay night, and it includes references to all of them.[1]

Plot

Bazett Fraga McRemitz, a member of the Mage's Association and a master in the 5th Holy Grail War, wakes on the fourth day of the 5th Holy Grail war with a new servant, Avenger, and no memory of what happened to her beforehand. She and Avenger set off to fight and win the Holy Grail War.

Meanwhile, Shirou Emiya lives a peaceful life with all his friends, from the 5th Holy Grail War. After her experiment alters the event-horizon changes time and space for using a copy of Zelretch's Jeweled Sword in Castle Einzbern with Illyasviel von Einzbern and (what has later caused the Masters and Servants killed in the 5th Holy Grail War back to life, except Kirei Kotomine, even with the Holy Grail destroyed by Shirou and Saber in prologue of game), Rin Tohsaka leaves for the Mage's Association in England to fix things. The Servants sense a new danger while dark creatures appear soon afterward. Shirou, as a precaution, sets off to ensure nobody is in danger and instead finds himself frequently meeting a mysterious girl, Caren Hortensia.

Both Bazett and Shirou find themselves in a time loop that lasts four days, beginning of the fourth day of the 5th Holy Grail War. Each time they die or survive four days, they always awake on the first day of the loop aware of what has happened to them since the first time loop began. Determined to end the loop, Bazett, Avenger, and Shirou fight to discover the truth behind what's causing the endless four days.

As the game progresses, it is soon discovered that the whole event is really a dream world created by Avenger due to the desire made by Bazett to not end up dying and continue the Holy Grail War, while Shirou is in reality Avenger using the form the real winner of the 5th Holy Grail War in the real world to realize their own desire to live a normal life, even if in the dream world after his physical form as Holy Grail be destroyed by Shirou and Saber in the real world in the end of the 5th Holy Grail War.

Characters

Main Characters

Bazett Fraga McRemitz
A mage sent from the Mage's Association to fight the 5th War of the Holy Grail, born in Ireland, she is a descendant of an old mage family of an unusual bloodline. She is mentioned very briefly in Fate/stay night. The original Master of Lancer, she was betrayed by Kirei Kotomine and became the master of the Servant Avenger.
Caren Hortensia
An assistant exorcist and member of the Church sent to Fuyuki City to replace Kotomine after his death and report the aftermath of the 5th Holy Grail War. She acts as the mediator for the false Grail War that results from the looping four days; because she was not involved, she is able to see the strange events occurring objectively. She is noted for having a rather bizarre personality. She is actually the daughter of Kotomine.
Avenger
The 8th Servant, who was accidentally summoned in the 3rd war, who appears suddenly as Bazett's new Servant. His true name is believed to be Angra Mainyu, an evil spirit of Zoroastrianism.

Secondary characters

Shirou Emiya
Within this installment, Shirou experiences unexpected changes in personality and momentary lapses in memory, particularly related to his own skills. In reality, it was Avenger, the eighth Servant, who took possession of Shirou's form during daytime.
Rin Tohsaka
In the first half of the game, Rin is in London. She returns in the second half with an apparently dramatic change in personality (specifically, a penchant for cosplaying as a mikoWP or magical girls). However, she has also become an experienced mage, demonstrating this when she was the first to logically compose an explanation as to why time has been looping for four days and when she gives Shirou advice. In Fate/hollow ataraxia, she wields the Kaleidostick, another of Zelretch's inventions, which when activated, the Kaleidostick transfers knowledge from an alternate version of its user into its current wielder, in addition to providing an ample source of Prana. However, the Kaleidostick dislikes its creator, and frequently manipulates its user into humiliating situations. In Fate/hollow ataraxia, the Kaleidostick is responsible for transforming Rin into the magical girl Kaleido-Ruby.
Other characters
While playing less prominent roles, all Masters and Servants in Fate/stay night of the 5th Holy Grail War appear again, with the exception of Kotomine, Zouken Matou, and True Assassin.

Development

Kinoko Nasu mentioned in the Fate/side material that Souichirou Kuzuki was the top character to further explore in the sequel.[2] The featured song to the original Fate/hollow ataraxia is "hollow" performed by NUMBER201 feat.rhu.

The game also was ported to Playstation Vita in 11/27/2014, and include full-voice acting, among other enhancements.[3]The contents of the Vita version is censored like Réalta Nua. It has announced that Ufotable will be animating the opening intro. The featured song to the Playstation Vita Fate/hollow ataraxia is "broKen NIGHT" performed by AimerWP. The Playstation vita edition has a new mini game called Capsule Servant, and a new version of Hanafuda game with the characters of Fate/Zero, Illya, Miyu, and Kuro of Prisma Illya, and the selectable servants (Archer, Saber, and Caster) of Fate/Extra.

Q: Is it safe to assume that Hollow's "Sequel" follows none of the three routes’ endings in Fate/stay night? (meaning a parallel universe with different possibilities)

A: It’s best if you don’t think too much about it (laugh).

    Q:「hollow」の後日談の状態は、「Fate/stay night」での3つのルート以外のエンディング状態(別の可能性の平行世界)として考えて問題ないのでしょうか?

    A:あれはとにかく深く考えちゃダメだ(笑)。

  2. [v] Fate/side material - Encyclopedia: Kuzuki Souichirou [Person's name], p.059-060 [T]

    Souichirou Kuzuki [Person's name]
A teacher at the school which Shirou and gang enrolled. He taught social studies and ethics.
Kuzuki was the Master of Caster, but he was a regular man rather than a magus.
A mysterious man who suddenly appeared in Fuyuki City two years ago.
He was well-liked by the chief priest at the Ryuudou Temple and was granted residency in the temple.
He described himself as a "decayed killer", and true to his words, he did commit murder in the past.
Kuzuki's fighting technique was not something granted by Caster, but his own skills entirely.
Just like Caster appreciated Kuzuki, Kuzuki found something in Caster.
The reason which drove this husk of a man to fight, in a sense, was similar to that which drove Emiya Shirou.
He was a member of an assassination organization similar to the Nanayas in Tsukihime.
If there is a sequel, Kuzuki is number one on the list of characters I want to further explore.
