Development[]

Tsukihime remake

A remake of the original Tsukihime was announced in the June 2008 issue of Tech Gian. It is set to feature enhanced artwork and sound, changes to the storyline, and the originally discarded route for Satsuki Yumizuka. For a time, it was undecided as to whether the new version will be voiced or if the erotic elements of the original game will remain in the new version. Eventually, it was decided that it would have voice actors, and the erotic elements would be cut.

After the release of Mahou Tsukai no Yoru, Nasu stated in an interview that the production of the remake is proceeding along with several other projects.[3] During TYPE-MOON Fes., several pieces of artwork showing Arcueid, Ciel, and Akiha with redesigned appearances were featured.

Following a long period of no news, the opening movie was shown at the end-of-year Fate/Grand Order broadcast on December 31, 2020, just a few days after the 20th anniversary of Tsukihime. With it came the announcement that the remake was officially titled Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon-, along with a completely new voice cast and a firm release window for Summer 2021.

At the end of the FGO 6th Anniversary x TYPE-MOON Projects panel of Anime Expo 2023, an announcement was made off-stream for an official English translation, scheduled to be released internationally on 2024. This was later confirmed on the official Aniplex of America Twitter account a day later.[4]

BUNBUN, Yamanaka Kotetsu, PFALZ and Mineji Sakamoto also did character designs for minor characters. Higashiguchi Chuuou, Simosi and Hirokazu Koyama cooperated in the characters designs. Hirokazu Koyama and I-IV worked on weapon designs. Taiki designed the Millennium Castle Brunestud. [5]

Tsukihime Remake Sales Prove That Type-Moon is Still in a Class of its Own. “13 years after its announcement in a 2008 issue of Tech Gian magazine, Type-Moon's Tsukihime remake saw its Japanese release last week. The game sold 77,237 units on the Nintendo Switch and another 66,171 units on the PlayStation 4, bringing it to a total of 143,408 copies sold at retail. Tsukihime Remake Sales Prove That Type-Moon is Still in a Class of its Own. “While Japan isn't a country known for strong digital sales of console games, there are exceptions to this rule. In particular, if a game is difficult to find at retail, ardent fans will opt to buy digital instead. And in the case of Tsukihime, the game's Nintendo Switch version is reportedly sold out at several major retailers, leading to Type-Moon pushing the digital version instead, as they attempt a restock of physical units.”
