Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works] (フェイトステイナイトアンリミテッドブレイドワークス, Feito/sutei naito [Anrimiteddo Bureido Wākusu]?) is an anime adaptation of the Unlimited Blade Works route from the Fate/stay night visual novel by studio ufotable. The first season premiered on October 12, 2014, and the second premiered on April 4, 2015. Takahiro Miura directed the series, and Atsushi Ikariya, Tomonori Sudou, and Hisayuki Tabata adapted Takashi Takeuchi's original character designs. The storyline features original content scripted by Kinoko Nasu, the original writer of Fate/stay night.[1] The series was originally planned to adapt the Fate route, but it was changed to Unlimited Blade Works after production began. The Realta Nua visual novel version of Fate was instead set to be released for free on IOS and Android devices afterward.[2]
Story[]
Fuyuki City—a city surrounded by the ocean and the mountains becomes the setting for an age-old ritual. To realize the mythical Holy Grail, which is said to grant any wish from its possessor, seven masters are given seven heroic spirits chosen by the Grail. These heroic spirits or servants are:
- "Saber"
- "Lancer"
- "Archer"
- "Rider"
- "Caster"
- "Assassin"
- "Berserker"
Each master will enter into a contract with their assigned servants and battle the other masters and servants to the death until only one pair remains…
This is the “Holy Grail War.”[3]

- ↑ Twitter - I read the newtype article and at first the Fate anime was to be the Fate route (Saber route) and they made a little progress although though they changed it to UBW (Rin route) among other things. After the change, Fate was released for free, UBW became the TV anime and HF became the movie version, among other things.
