Ise (イセ^?) is a resident of the crescent-shaped island in the World of Tsuki no Sango.

Profile

Background

Ise is one of the fifty islanders living in the small colony centered around the Storyteller Girl. Ise is one of the two attendants along with Sui.

Role

Tsuki no Sango

During the arrival of suitors for the Girl, Ise attends to the recently arrived Prince of Arishima. Apologizing profoundly for the Girl's tardiness for the meeting, the Prince is understanding, expounding on the virtues of the island and the girl. Ise, knowing that the formal wear the Girl uses for meetings is nothing like the real her, is unable to comment. The Prince speaks to Ise about the conditions of the engagement being impossible, thinking she must dislike him. Sui arrives after failing to have convinced the Girl to attend the meeting, the Prince deciding to take his leave. The Prince gives Ise the flowers meant for the Girl, Sui commenting on Ise's bashfulness at the act.

The two discuss the Girl's refusal to marry. While Ise wishes for the Girl to marry for love, she is bewildered by her having turned down sixteen suitors. She is worried about having to relay the news to Yuzukura.

Development

Ise was not mentioned in the original short story. She was first introduced in the manga adaptation.
