Ciel
Tsukihime (2000)

Ciel (シエル, Shieru?) is seventh member of the Burial Agency of the Holy Church. Formerly an incarnation of Michael Roa Valdamjong, she goes undercover at Private Misaki High School, acting as Shiki Tohno's senior. She is one of the five heroines of Tsukihime.

Profile[]

Background[]

Ciel, as Elesia (エレイシア, Ereishia?), was born in 1976 in a remote village in France to a French father and an Oriental mother. Due to a high degree of magical potential, she was born as Michael Roa Valdamjong's seventeenth incarnation.[1] His sixteenth was destroyed by Arcueid Brunestud before he had a chance to find a family bloodline with both wealth and power. He could only fulfill the requirement that his next incarnation would have physical potential, so he was born into a normal family without any social standing. Her body instead had extremely high magical potential, which is the closest in power to his original body in all of his incarnations.

She grew up normally in the village, though she felt out of place due to looking like her mother. The townspeople were kind to her, and she lived happily, helping out in her father's shop, going to school, and falling in love like normal.[1] Ciel's father viewed her as a rival in terms of making naan bread, so he told his daughter, "Don't you dare eat any curry, no matter what. Even if it kills you. No, in fact, I'll kill you if you do." She distanced herself from curry after that point.[4]

Everything changed around her sixteenth birthday, when Roa finally began to manifest. She wanted to snap the necks of her friends for no reason, and the sight of a beggar on the road was so funny that she wanted to stab him with a knife. She tried her best to resist the impulses by locking herself away in her room. It was not the same as possession, as she equated the feelings to those normal small destructive passions that all humans possess solidified inside her mind. She knew something terrible would happen if she were to let them take over, so she tried not to see anyone or do anything to avoid hating anyone and bring about her feelings.

Locking herself away was a large mistake because that gave time for her mind to grind away and finally surpass its limits. She became completely replaced with Roa after that point, but still felt his actions as her own. With only the thought of her thirstiness, she left her room for the first time in months, and after greeting her worried parents with a smile, bit into their necks and sucked their blood. She heard her voice, despite having never heard it before, saying "---Has it been a hundred years? This body is very fascinating." Roa greatly enjoyed the amount of power the body gave him. Due to her having no social standing, it took him time to take over, and it was difficult to do so without having people notice.

He committed various atrocities to the citizens as he enjoyed using a body with true power, but it was not as wild as previous times and without as much blood spilled. The will of the incarnation still comes from the body, so she still had some power over his actions. She took the townspeople she loved one by one, and she humiliated and mutilated their souls. She figured that she would go insane, but also figured that insanity would cause her to commit even more sins than before. She tried to minimize the damage in order to persevere and keep her sanity. It only took a month before she was in full control of them and playing with their lives however she wished.

Her only solace was that it ended quickly. After the town was completely under Roa's control, he was inevitably hunted down by Arcueid, who managed to find him after two days of searching. She found him on a night with a crimson moon, and he was killed after their fight. Elesia's body was taken by the Holy Church to the vatican. She eventually revived with her original personality without any of Roa's influence, while Roa moved on to his next incarnation, SHIKI Tohno. Her body naturally healed her over time, and due to her connection to Roa, she gained immortality in the form of a paradox that says she will not die as long as Roa continues to exist. After being killed repeatedly by the Church for an entire month in an attempt to study her immortality and to vanquish her as a heretic, she was taken in by the Burial Agency due to her unique nature. Her main desire and mission being the elimination of Roa to end her eternal existence. Due to her favoring projectile weapons, she was given the codename Bow (弓, yumi?).[5][6]

While she was originally scared of curry, on her first mission for the Burial Agency to defeat a Dead Apostle in India, she met with curry there. The offensive and eccentric taste shocked her, making her think, "Dad was keeping such a delicious food all to himself!" After that point, she became obsessed with it. The Dead Apostle Curry de Marche is said to be her reason for eating the curry, but his existence, as a parody character, makes that version of events somewhat dubious.[4]

Appearance[]

Ciel is a fair skinned average height girl with blue hair in a pixie cut.

According to Takeuchi during a Q&A along with Nasu, Ciel is an E-Cup, though her best point is her ass and "child-bearing hips". Takeuchi clarifies that Ciel's entire posterior altogether is her best physical feature, and that her big ass is made fun of by Arcueid,[7] though she did admit once when drunk that she is envious of Ciel's butt and commented how "meaty" it is and that it was a "good butt".[8]

Personality[]

Ciel displays two vastly different personalities depending on her current role, that of the kind, calm, friendly, and peaceful upperclassmen and that of the cold member of the Burial Agency. While she tries to act as if it is only a disguise in order to find out if Shiki is Roa's reincarnation, her gentle self can be called the "real" Ciel, but they are both real in a way. As with all the characters, she has a large burden to handle, so she is able to be more honest right after having sex.[4]

While acting as a senior at Shiki's school, she is the president and only member of the tea ceremony club. Everybody at school considers her a person of integrity even more reliable than the teachers.[9] She comes to become good friends with Arihiko Inui, Satsuki Yumizuka, and Shiki. When not investigating Shiki, she likes to go to class, where she sits in the back out of everyone else's view and enjoys listening to the teacher. She runs through the hall helping people out, and likes doing things like fixing the broken fence outside. She has tricked the teachers into letting her have the tea ceremony room, even making them give her a budget so that she can eat as much candy as she would like. Relaxing there and drinking tea in the afternoon is important to her.[4]

While acting as a member of the Church, she is very serious and willing to do whatever it takes to get her tasks done. She wishes to settle her own vendetta with Roa and remove her immortality. She attempts to remain cold and calculating when focusing on completing her job of hunting him down, but her interactions with Shiki make it hard for her. There is only one person to whom she wants to show her merciful side, that being Shiki.

Ciel is a costume fetishist, having designed the outfit she wears when "on duty" personally. She also has a weakness for curry, which has been mentioned in several ways, such as her storing much curry in her apartment. She likes Curry Bread, and as a weapon limited to her, Fried Curry Bread carries the additional effect of instant death, but neither has any effect against Akiha.[10] She'd be happy eating nothing but curry rice with curry udon for lunch every single day. Ever since coming to Misaki, the Indian Curry House Messiaen has become something of an oasis for her.[9]

Role[]

Tsukihime[]

Arcueid's route[]

Ciel has a secondary role in Arcueid Brunestud's route.[11][12]

Ciel's route[]

« Answer me....! I am going to kill you. Without any regards to your own will, just a one-sided murder......! Then, you won't be compensated unless you hate me, right....!? »

(Ciel, after Shiki refuses to fight her - Ciel's route, Day 11)

The first five days of Ciel's route closely resemble Arcueid's route, the most notable difference being that Shiki Tohno expends more time with Ciel than in the previous route.[13][14][15][16][17]

With the help of Ciel, Shiki successfully defeats Michael Roa Valdamjong.[18] However, he transfers the burden of his madness to him, causing Shiki to have murdering thoughts and strange dreams (one of which Shiki finds about Ciel's past before and after being possessed by Roa).[1][19] After he gets out of control and gravely injures and rapes Kohaku, Shiki runs away from the mansion, afraid that he will be unable to resist the urge to kill as long as he's around people.[2]

Shiki and Ciel

Shiki Tohno calls Ciel and confesses to her that he's really a killer and needs to be away from people. She asks him to meet her at the school since there are no people there. He goes, but when she shows up she finds her dressed in her executor outfit as she carries her Seventh Holy Scripture. Ciel reveals to him that everything they shared in the past was all a huge lie, and her only purpose for being with him was to find out if he was Roa, and then kill him if he was. Shortly after, Ciel forces them to fight, despite Shiki not wanting to. Ciel quickly immobilizes him, but she is unable to kill him. She tries to convince herself that her love for Shiki was fake and it was just her mission to destroy Roa, but she ultimately collapses, sobbing onto Shiki's arms.[2]

They later go to Ciel's house, when Shiki finds that his body has been excited after Roa transferred to his body. Ciel finds it out and tries a technique on him to calm the soul, in which they have sex.[2] However it doesn't work, so he leaves Ciel's house, where he encounters with Arcueid, who was looking for him in order to kill him. She immediately blames Ciel for Shiki's current condition and tells him that she can save him if he obeys her. Depending of Shiki is given the choice to answer her.[20]

If Shiki tells Arcueid that he does not love her, it results in Ciel's True Ending. He attacks her by cutting the line of her neck, causing Arcueid to threaten to kill him for real. Ciel appears and drags Shiki away, before Arcueid recovers. Ciel fights against Arcueid, but she is quickly defeated. Shiki, realizing that Roa has overtook his body, tries to kill himself by slashing his throat, so Arcueid won’t have to finish him. After doing this, Arcueid returns to her senses and vanishes after saying farewell to Shiki.[20] However Shiki manages to survive and Ciel takes him to her house to heal his wounds, ending up together.[21]

If Shiki tells Arcueid that he is attracted to her, it results in Ciel's Good Ending. After his response, Arcueid kisses him as she tries to get him to drink her blood, but she is stopped by Ciel. Ciel believes that if Shiki kills Arcueid, Roa might get weaker. As both girls discuss how to get rid of Roa, he overtakes Shiki's body. In order to stop it, Shiki slashes his chest in order to kill himself and stop Roa. After that, he has a vision of Roa before he started reincarnating and vanishes, disappearing for good.[20] After killing Roa, both Ciel and Arcueid "share" Shiki, resulting in a sort of harem ending much to Ciel's chagrin.[22]

In both scenarios, after Roa is destroyed, Ciel's body returns to normal.

Akiha's route[]

« See, are you satisfied? You're not a killer. Those words were true words. So, all this is just a dream. Tohno-kun is Tohno-kun. Very gentle, thoughtful, and so sensitive as to cry over something like this. Just the ordinary, everyday boy I yearned for. »

(Ciel resssuring Shiki after their fight - Akiha's route, Day 9)

At first Ciel is a supportive character, acting as Shiki's senpai who is disliked by Akiha. She fights SHIKI Tohno.[23] After Shiki starts having strange dreams and confesses it to Ciel, she asks him to meet her at the school. Just like in the other routes, she appears in her executor outfit and attacks Shiki. However, after Shiki is unable to kill her, she reveals her true identity and the fact the always knew that Shiki was not the killer.[24] After revealing her identity, she abandons school the next day, removing her memories of herself from all her classmates, with the exception of Shiki. Akiha later reveals to Shiki that she was aware that Ciel was not human.[25]

After SHIKI ambushes the Tohnos at the mansion, Ciel saves Shiki and takes him to her house for recovery. When an angry Shiki asks why she didn’t save Akiha, she calmly responds that SHIKI has turned Akiha into a mindless monster and there’s nothing that can be done about it. Despite her warnings, Shiki goes to save Akiha.

In the continuation of Akiha's True Ending in Kagetsu Tohya, Ciel sends a letter to Akiha, saying that after Shiki stabbed himself to save her, Ciel was able to take him with her and save his life, so he might return to the Tohno mansion in a few months. Akiha isn't too happy that Ciel was the one who saved Shiki in the end, but decides to wait for Shiki.

Hisui's and Kohaku's routes[]

She appears as a supportive character, only appearing in school as Shiki's senior.

Kagetsu Tohya[]

After the threat of Roa is gone from the town, she stays with the excuse of killing off his children vampires. They normally die after the parent dies, but those treated as successors can live on after the parent's death, such as Satsuki Yumizuka in Melty Blood. The area needs investigation even after they are exterminated, and the real job of purification only begins after that point. She still had to tweak her paperwork slightly in the end to get the job of doing it.[26]

Melty Blood[]

Ciel fights Sion Eltnam Atlasia.[27][28][29]

Ciel is brainwashed by Hisui and forced to fight Sion Eltnam Atlasia and Akiha Tohno.[30]

Ciel fights Akiha Tohno, Shiki Tohno, and Sion Eltnam Atlasia simultaneously.[31] After Shiki and Sion retreat, Akiha fights Ciel on her own.[32]

She appears in Melty Blood Actress Again.[33]

Carnival Phantasm[]

Ciel has a number of roles in Carnival Phantasm as one of the heroines of Tsukihime. It parodies her constant fighting with Arcueid, especially over Shiki, and her love of curry.

Abilities[]

Eight years before the events of Tsukihime, Ciel became a member of the Burial Agency, special Executors meant for the slaying of Dead Apostles.[17] She considers her Immortality to be the reason for her inclusion and cites that she may not be considered truly worthy as a member of the group without it.[34] Despite her young age, Arcueid Brunestud praises her great abilities, as she's an agent already having a seat in the perfect number, the Seventh.[17][5] She possesses combat ability specialized for fighting Vampires, and her own potential also exceeds the realm of Humans.[9]

Immortality[]

While Ciel is not a Vampire, her body isn't like that of a normal Human either.[18] Whenever the World detects even a slight error, the world corrects it to preserve itself. No one else but the world itself "fixes" the error automatically. Ciel was born as Michael Roa Valdamjong. Even though the personality of her first 15 years was hers, the name of her Soul was Roa. While she was herself, she was also Roa. If the girl called Roa died when Roa's soul was still alive, that would create a contradiction.[2] Due to this contradiction, Ciel is an existence that cannot die no matter what happens as long as Roa is still alive.[5] While vampires can be called immortal while they live, their regeneration stops after they die.[1] In Ciel's case, after she is damaged, without anyone's help, even her own, it is the World itself what returns her back to normal by reversing time itself.[1][2] Since Ciel cannot age, she can't die of old age.[2] Whether every CellWP in her body is killed,[1] or her body is burnt to ashes, time will reverse itself to return Ciel to its original state.[2] Roa states that compared to her, he is quite "cute".[1]

Cielimmortality

Michael Roa Valdamjong restrains Ciel with her own Black Keys.

It is not healing or regeneration, but more like any wounds caused to her are "rewound." After cutting her neck, blood sprays everywhere, but within a moment, the wound and all of the blood are gone, returning to how it was before as if being rewound like a video. Even pools of blood are instantly reverted, leaving no trace of having existed, and her heart will start to beat again even with a sword through her brain.[17] The ability does not remove foreign objects impaling her, so she will still be trapped in place even if they cannot kill her.[18] While it is useful in battle, it does not allow her to compete with Arcueid in direct combat. Though she cannot die, Arcueid can kill her repeatedly to keep her from retaliating.[20]

The moment Michael Roa Valdamjong's Soul was destroyed, Ciel lost her Immortality.[4][35] Since the World no longer needed to keep her alive to sustain Order, Ciel reverted back to a body that would "die if killed."[35] However, since she retained the Self Preservation Magecraft she had learned beforehand, her regenerative capabilities are still exceptional.[4] In order to kill her in this state, it would be best to destroy her brain, where the Magic Circuits converge.[35]

Black Keys[]

CielBlackKey

Ciel's signature weapons are the Black Keys, weapons used against Vampires, monsters that distort the laws of nature. These "keys of providence" call forth the original laws of nature the vampire was subject to as a Human.[36] Furthermore, since black keys are designed specifically for throwing and not for swordplay, in a way they could be considered a kind of bullet.[37][36] Though her swords are clearly designed as piercing weapons, for some reason or another whatever they hit is totally blown away. When Arcueid Brunestud was hit with a barrage of them in the Ciel route, it was enough to send her tumbling from one end of the park to the other.[38] This is thanks to a secret throwing technique of the Burial Agency called the Iron Plate Effect.[36][38] Arcueid initially assumed that there was some kind of enchantment applied to the swords that caused the force at the moment of impact to be multiplied dozens of times, but in reality, this is the result of martial arts and not sorcery.[38] Because Ciel has mastered this technique, her black keys are capable of boring through concrete walls.[36]

Besides the Iron Plate Effect, there are other secret techniques such as the Cremation Rite which is used in Ciel's Last Arc.[36] It consists of spells engraved in the blades that burst the target into flames after being pierced. It sees very little use amongst the Holy Church's Executors.[39] In fact, Arcueid Brunestud states that Ciel is the only agent given authority to hunt heretics alone and that uses Black Keys that combine the Cremation Sacrament and the Iron Plate Effect.[11] This is because Ciel doesn't believe in ChristianityWP at all, so she makes use of these heresies with impunity. The source of Ciel's Magecraft is the knowledge she inherited from Michael Roa Valdamjong. Aside from the Cremation Rite, there is also the Internment Rite, which turns the target into stone, the Mummification Rite, which desiccates the target, and the Excarnation Rite, which causes countless crows to descend upon the target. Ciel herself is reluctant to make use of Roa's knowledge, but if it's for the sake of annihilating Dead Apostles she'll use his (taboo) sorcery without even a bit of hesitation.[39]

In the Manga adaptation of Tsukihime, Ciel is shown to be capable of telekinetically controlling her Black Keys, to the point of being able to send a huge amount of them simultaneously flying at a single target.[40]

Ciel conceals a large number of Black Keys under her robe. Especially, their hilts. When needed, she materializes the blades by passing Magical Energy through pages of the BibleWP. The maximum number she is able to conceal at one time is close to 100. Though they are counted as one of the basic weapons of the Holy Church, the fact that they're relatively hard to use means that very few Executors favor them.[37][36]

Combat[]

Ciel is not a mere brute.[9] She boasts excellent reflexes,[5] and her skills as an intelligence agent are quite high as well.[9] She is basically good at everything, and she can use any weapon. She has no favorites, but guns are the only ones she likes.[4] Due to being the only person in the Burial Agency that fights using firearms, she receives the nickname "Bow".[5][6] She fights using all sorts of projectiles – not just throwing swords, but guns as well.[5] In Melty Blood she throws so many Black Keys it is said she finally demonstrates skills worthy of this name.[6]

Normally, members of the Burial Agency are able to fight Servants even with a Human body.[41] In Ciel's case, she can't equally match a Servant with an extremely average Noble Phantasm, unlike The Twenty-seven Dead Apostle Ancestors, Kouma Kishima, or Aoko Aozaki. However, if it's just a defensive fight, then she could manage it. Shiki Ryougi (3rd personality) might be able to go as far as Ciel's class as well.[42] If Medea and Ciel went full out on Magecraft in a fight, Medea would win. Because Medea is a Witch from the Age of Gods, she is something that shouldn't be in the present. If it was a competition against Human opponents, then Medea would present the most horrifying and greatest results among the 5 Heaven's Feel Route Servants. However, if Ciel got her hands on what lies within the deepest parts of the Evocationary area of the Association and wielded the Seventh Holy Scripture, things would be different.[43]

Ciel is by far more powerful than Kirei Kotomine thanks to her "lineage" and her immortality. Kirei's prowess in the Fuyuki Holy Grail War was rooted in the sheer number of Command Spells at his disposal as much as it was in his obsession with Kirei Kotomine. Suffice it to say, it was his golden age. If those conditions were met against Ciel, Kirei could defeat her.[44]

Ciel was shown fighting SHIKI Tohno in one of Shiki's dreams.[23] Based on the way Ciel moved, leaping from rooftop to rooftop, and throwing Black Keys like bullets, Shiki believes she almost seemed like more of a monster than SHIKI.[24] Shiki notes that while Ciel was very strong, the moment a passerby happened to interrupt their fight, it was the end.[23] When Ciel moved to protect the passerby, SHIKI took advantage of her opening and skewered the two of them from behind.[23][24] In her own route, Ciel is defeated off-screen by Michael Roa Valdamjong.[1] She later stated that the reason she lost is that she wasn't fully prepared, unlike in her Powered mode.[2] In Arcueid's route, Ciel states that with her current equipment, she may not be able to fully kill Roa under the Full Moon, which grants him more strength than normal, making him practically Immortal. Because Roa is stronger than his previous hosts, Ciel can't face him directly. She tells Shiki Tohno she'll use the opening after he and Arcueid get killed to dispose of him.[12]

Arcueid beats Ciel

Arcueid defeating Ciel in their third fight.

Arcueid Brunestud's first fight against Ciel isn't a simple fight. Shiki Tohno praises Ciel's speed, her flying speed, and accuracy, which surpass that of Nrvnqsr Chaos' beats. He says that her movement is as fast as weakened Arcueid Brunestud when she tore apart Nrvnqsr Chaos' beasts, 2 days before. Sword in hand, Ciel jumps towards Arcueid, who is able to deflect the blade coming towards her chest with her hand and send Ciel flying through the air like a soccer ball with just a light touch in the chest.[17] One day later, Arcueid and Ciel fight again. This time, Arcueid had regained enough strength, to the point she believed even Shiki with his Mystic Eyes of Death Perception shouldn't be able to see her death. Shiki states that their battle is beyond himself, as he can't track the movement of Arcueid's body with his eyes. All he could see was a white blur running through the night. Surprisingly, Ciel didn't back off seeing her speed. While Ciel couldn't move as fast, she accurately deflects Arcueid's blazing attacks while standing on the ground. As a third person looking on, their strengths seemed equal. However, no matter how amazing Ciel was, her power is not something that goes beyond a certain point. In contrast, Arcueid seemed limitless. In the beginning, Ciel was overwhelming her, but Arcueid then matched her quickly and was easily surpassing her powers, quickly settling their match. Ciel flies lightly in the air and strikes the ground, rolling like "a piece of trash."[18] Five days later, Arcueid and Ciel fight yet again, this time under a Full Moon. In this state, even Ciel's Black Keys, which could kill a normal Vampire 6 times over, can't scratch Arcueid. Hopefully, for Ciel, she came prepared for "total war", as she brought Black Barrel from Rome. Arcueid notes that this proves the rumor of Ciel giving "boring knowledge" to Enhance is true. Ciel states that even with a treasure of The Holy Church she cannot destroy Arcueid, a True Ancestor. The best she can do is seal her away. When Arcueid goes berserk, she defeats Ciel with extreme ease.[20]

Ciel was able to take Shiki Tohno off guard when he was lost admiring her great skill. When Shiki realizes Ciel is pointing a Black Key at his neck, he doesn't even have time to think of the danger or to evade: his thoughts are suddenly filled only with death.[17]

In Melty Blood, Ciel fights Sion Eltnam Atlasia and Shiki Tohno simultaneously. Thanks to Sion's abilities having improved since the last time she met Ciel, she is able to give Ciel a good fight.[27] Normally, if Sion faced Ciel, she would be forced to either flee or be destroyed.[28] However, due to Sion having Shiki under her control thanks to the Etherlite, Ciel is forced to retreat. Ciel states that she cannot win as long as Shiki is restrained and that in the worst-case scenario, she wouldn't even be able to escape.[27] In the G. route, Ciel is brainwashed by Hisui and defeated by Akiha Tohno and Sion working together.[30]

In the "Hologram Summer" and "Other tale" routes, Ciel's performance in combat is more impressive than previously shown in Tsukihime, as shown when she fought Akiha Tohno, Sion Eltnam Atlasia, and Shiki Tohno simultaneously. Eventually, Ciel withdraws, saying that both sides will be defeated if the battle continues, to which Sion agrees. Shiki later notes that Ciel wasn't fighting seriously and that even though it was three against one, it was still uneven.[31] In another route where Ciel doesn't hold back,[32] Ciel wins, leaving Shiki with no strength left and Sion collapsed on the ground. Akiha, who still had power left keeps fighting Ciel while the others retreat. However, she states that even she knows not to face Ciel directly.[31] After a while, Shiki notes that Akiha must be doing a good job at stopping her, because Ciel didn't follow them. Shiki doesn't worry about Ciel fighting Akiha as not only is Akiha skilled with her abilities, but Ciel will not truly fight her since she isn't a Vampire that attacks Humans. He says that they will both hold themselves back and it will be over shortly. He later states that while Akiha unconsciously suppresses her strength, if she got serious, even Ciel would be killed.[32]

Magecraft[]

Ciel is not just skilled in martial arts, but in Magecraft as well. The knowledge that she inherited from Michael Roa Valdamjong is equivalent to that possessed by a Magus of the rank of Grand – the highest rank in the Mage's Association. Even in the Holy Church, where sorcery is officially forbidden, this is regarded as a highly useful asset.[5] In terms of Ciel's excellent qualities, her Magical Energy capacity is extremely high. For comparison, if a normal mage can keep a large beer mug's worth of magic energy, Ciel can keep a poly-tank's worth.[4] If this was represented with numbers, a regular Magus would have 40 units, whereas Ciel would possess over 4000.[3] As far as battles are concerned, normal mages use water guns, while Ciel can fight with a water hose.[4] Whereas someone as talented as Rin Tohsaka would rank anywhere from 70-100, Ciel would be 100.[45]

Despite her Magecraft potential being far above that of an A rank Mage, she wastes it because she doesn't enjoy using it.[4] Ciel herself hates drawing Roa's knowledge.[5] There's more magecraft she knows that she's never used.[4] Some of those are Numerology, High Speed Incantation, Simplified Repetitive Incantation, and Necromancy.[46] During Arcueid's route, she utilizes a number of The Dead Arcueid killed to attack her. She preserved them from the day before and manipulated them with string from atop a streetlight. While the use of it was not easy for her, it is something she is capable of as "Roa's daughter." All of those chosen to be Roa's reincarnated body can be called his descendants even though they are not related by blood, so they can be called his children. He had the most attachment to Ciel out of all of his hosts.[26]

She uses Magecraft along with the Sacraments of the Holy Church. Commonly, this magical ability manifests in her control of the Mystic Eyes of Whisper, allowing her to manipulate people to a limited extent, hypnotizing them into not doubting the words that she says, unless there is direct evidence otherwise.[citation needed] It was this technique that allowed her to infiltrate Shiki's school.[17][5]

In the Manga adaptation of Tsukihime, Ciel is shown telekinetically manipulating knives and using them to create an impromptu Bounded Field in an unsuccessful attempt to imprison Nrvnqsr Chaos.[47]

Ciel states that even if Sion Eltnam Atlasia used the Etherlite to burn Shiki Tohno's brain, she would be able to heal him.[27]

Forms and Alternate Versions[]

Dark Elesia[]

Dark Elesia was Ciel's evil persona after awakening as Michael Roa Valdamjong. She was eventually defeated and killed by Arcueid Brunestud, however, thanks to her Immortality she survived and was trapped by the Burial Agency.

Powered Ciel[]

Powered Ciel (完全武装シエル, Kanzen Busō Shieru?, Full Armed Ciel) is the form Ciel takes when she uses her full power. She utilizes self-induced hypnosis her personality colder when she was Elesia.[33]

Appearance[]

Rather than resembling an assassin like she does normally, she is a martial artist wearing a full combat sleeveless uniform.[4]

Ciel's arms are covered in tattoos.[15]

Abilities[]

In this form, Ciel uses self-induced hypnosis to make herself better suited for fighting. She also uses Reinforcement magecraft to make herself strong enough to swing the Seventh Holy Scripture in combat.[33]

Combat[]
Tsukihime.full

In Akiha's route, Ciel attacks Shiki Tohno by surprise. While Shiki blocks her dagger with his knife, he is still pushed back. Ciel notes that Shiki was able to react thanks to his Killer instincts, which give him a superior self-defense mechanism close to seeing the future. Realizing she won't be able to kill his consciousness before he feels pain, Ciel changes strategies and decides to fight him directly with her full strength. Despite Ciel only wielding a dagger, her attacks feel as if she was using a giant hammer, making Shiki's knife screech when he blocks her attacks. Because the attacks have too much momentum, Shiki can't block them completely. He manages to redirect a blow aimed at his heart to his side. Although he immediately twisted his body to avoid it, the knife ripped out one rib along with the flesh around it. Ciel and Shiki eventually reach a stalemate and Shiki gives up. While Ciel's intention wasn't to kill Shiki, she still fought him without holding back because she couldn't rule out the possibility of Shiki being Michael Roa Valdamjong.[24]

One of Ciel's new moves in Melty Blood Re-ACT is Ciel Somer (シエルサマー, Shieru Samā?). "Ciel Somer (Serious)" appears in the game as a powered-up version of the move that shows up when you do a shield counter. The reason this particular skill has such a strange name is that it was named by Ciel herself and not the Burial Agency.[48]

In Melty Blood Re-ACT and in Melty Blood Actress Again Current Code She uses equipment and energy that she has been stockpiling for a year, makes constant use of the Seventh Holy Scripture, and uses the magical knowledge gained from being a reincarnation of Roa. She only brought items specific to facing Roa while in Japan, so she has more specialized wares back home.[33]

Seventh Holy Scripture
Ciel Seventh Holy Scripture

In her Powered Mode, Ciel is authorized to carry the Seventh Holy Scripture,[49][50] one of the most powerful Conceptual Weapons in the Holy Church,[citation needed] and the strongest one in Tsukihime.[4] It is an Anti-Reincarnation weapon. When a target is hit by it, their Soul is dispersed into nothingness.[2] Ciel claims that the reason she was defeated by Michael Roa Valdamjong, is that she wasn't fully prepared at the time, unlike in her Powered Mode when she wields this weapon.[2]

The weapon has been transformed by Ciel into a lump of iron that can pound a Vampire to death with its physical attack power alone. It has a gross weight of 60 kilograms, and a maximum weight of twice that with optional attachments.[49][50] Ciel is better at utilizing it than Riesbyfe Stridberg can use her own Scripture. It would take an entire team of magi to utilize it constantly like she does, all due to her innate abilities.[33]

In Ciel's route, Shiki Tohno's body is invaded by Michael Roa Valdamjong, which results in Ciel fighting him with the Seventh Holy Scripture. Shiki is greatly intimidated by Ciel, and initially believes that she should be able to pierce his heart and kill him without him even noticing it ever happened. In an instant, with a speed that makes her seem to have literally disappeared, she swings her weapon horizontally. While Shiki blocks the attack, his arm is broken in the process. Even knowing Ciel will run toward him again, it's hard for him to even see her, and ends up receiving a fatal wound. Despite breathing heavily, Shiki runs toward the school building at a speed that matches Ciel. In a Bad Ending, Shiki kills Ciel. Initially, he didn't believe this was possible because he estimated that Ciel should be able to pierce him with the Seventh Holy Scripture before he could get within knife range. To Shiki's surprise, he easily dodged her blade and was able to pierce her "point" with ease, killing her in the process.[2] Shiki later noted that Arcueid Brunestud's unnatural pressure under the Full Moon is nothing like that of Ciel when she fought Shiki.[20]

Normally, if Medea and Ciel went full out on Magecraft in a fight, Medea would win. However, if Ciel got her hands on what lies within the deepest parts of the Evocationary area of the Association and wielded the Seventh Holy Scripture, things would be different.[43]

During Ciel's Arc Drive, she drives the stake into her opponent. Afterward, what is ejected from the magazine is not an empty cartridge, but pages of the holy scripture. For Vampires, this is no different from being directly injected with the holy scripture itself. There is no doubt that it is a surefire "Immortal Killer".[50]

Ciel-sensei[]

Ciel-sensei gives the player information on how to avoid the bad endings.[51]

Development[]

Creation and Conception[]

Takeuchi Valkyria 2

Clobette, a character from Takeuchi's doujin manga.

Ciel was based on Clobette, one of the heroines in Takeuchi Takashi's doujin manga "Valkyria", as well as a secretary named Cipher Neuvelvourg that was found in "Limitlessly Blue", a tabletop RPG game that Takeuchi GMed, which was also a basis to his doujin manga "Valkyria".[4]

Ciel was redesigned by Takeuchi Takashi for the Tsukihime remake.

Reception[]

HiguChieHajisarashi

Rumiko Chie, whose name is a homonym of Priestess Ciel, is a homage to Tsukihime in the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni series.[52] She has a love for curry and utilizes six T-squares in the same manner as Ciel handles Black Keys. Ciel's voice actorWP for the Tsukihime anime also does her voice.

    Magical Energy [Term]
The source that powered all magecraft, analogous to gasoline.
There were many names for it. For example, the magical energy in the atmosphere was called Mana. The meaning of Mana was approximately the same as that in the Polynesian culture. Also, Ether was not a form of Magical Energy as it was something else.
The Magical Energy in this story included Mana and the Magical Energy generated by magi themselves.
The difference in magnitude between the Magical Energy that permeated the natural environment and the Magical Energy generated by an individual was so great, it was foolish to compare the two.
Since the atmosphere in the Engulfing Forest was under Einnashe's control, one could not utilize the Magical Energy of the environment. As a result, most magecraft could not be activated, a magus could only activate very small-scale spells that utilize an individual's internal storage.
As an aside, this thing called "an individual's Magical Energy" as used by Blue in a foolish yet clever manner. To use a simile, it was like driving a car for 1000 km on 1 L of gas.
Also, the capacity of Ciel was ridiculously large. If a regular magus' gas tank was 40, then Ciel's was more than 4000. She truly deserved the name Miss Glutton.

    Ciel [Person's name]
One of the heroines in Tsukihime. A mysterious upperclassman. At the beginning of the game, she planted a suggestion in both Shiki and the players' heads that she was just an ordinary, strangely named sempai that they already knew. Also, glasses.
In truth, she is the newest member of the Church's inquisition force, the Burial Agency, and is tasked with punishing the Dead Apostle Roa. She infiltrated Shiki's school because she suspected him of being Roa's reincarnation, but in the process of observing him she ended up being charmed by him instead. It wasn't something as simple as falling in love, of course. It's just that she was moved by the fact that Shiki could lead such a carefree life despite having experienced death just like she had.
Due to a certain contradiction, she is an existence that cannot die no matter what happens. She is trying to destroy Roa in order to resolve this state of affairs. She boasts excellent reflexes, and is number seven in the Burial Agency despite her young age. She's not just skilled in martial arts, though. The knowledge of sorcery that she inherited from Roa is equivalent to that possessed by a magus of the rank of Grand – the highest rank in the Association. Even in the Church, where sorcery is officially forbidden, this is regarded as a highly useful asset. However, Ciel herself hates drawing on Roa's knowledge.
Within the Burial Agency she is known as "Bow", due to her preference for using projectile weapons. She fights using all sorts of projectiles – not just throwing swords, but guns as well. In fact, the one responsible for changing the Seventh Holy Scripture from a beast's horn into its current shape was actually Ciel.
Before she was part of the Burial Agency, she was the daughter of a baker. Her dream was to become a cake maker, and she already had some skill at making sweets.
…Though it seems she has no interest in making Western-style sweets anymore, on account of it dredges up memories of the past.
Her reputation as a curry lover has grown with each successive appearance, and at this point her name itself is synonymous with the stuff. As for why she loves curry so much, Takeuchi made a manga about it. It's probably about half true.
Always seems to end up playing second-fiddle to the other heroines. Maybe it's because of her magnanimous, all-forgiving nature?
Oh, well, at least her hand-to-hand combat action in Melty Blood ended up being really cool, since she was conceived of as a battle-type heroine from the very start.

    Bow [Colloquial term]
Ciel's alias within the Burial Agency. The name comes from the fact that she's the only person in the Burial Agency that fights using firearms.
It seems that Ciel is something of a gunpowder maniac, and the entire reason she changed the Seventh Holy Scripture into its current form was just to fit her own personal tastes.
…Sure, shooting a gun feels nice and all, but I'm a little worried about her. I wonder if there's something strange at work stressing her out…?
Also, in Melty Blood she finally demonstrates skills worthy of this name. So many black keys…

  7. Staff Roundtable - The First Night

I see. How about their proportions, then? I've heard some startling rumors about Ciel...

Nasu: You can fit three curry buns in there.

Ooh, so if you use the Mystic Eyes of Direct Death then you can eat some curry buns?

Takeuchi: To me, Arc has the most curvaceous body.

So then is Akiha the flattest?

Takeuchi: Akiha's an A cup, HisuKoha are C cups. Ciel and Arc are E cups. But you know, Ciel's true best point is her ass. (laugh)

Nasu: I agree again! You are indeed the man who has full reign over the heroine's measurements... really, though? Ciel's ass?

Takeuchi: ...let's just say she has child-bearing hips.

Nasu: Oh wait, so all the heroines have pre-defined charm points.

Takeuchi: Not really her ass, more her entire posterior! It makes you say "Damn, look at what she's got down there."

Nasu: ......Oh no, you might have really hit something there for me. Senpai's stocks are going way up in Nasu Land now!

So that's why Arc always makes fun of her for having a big ass.

    Takeuchi: Yes! (laugh)

Nasu: ...Look at what we've done to the heroines' relationships now...

    Ciel [Person's name]
An upperclassman at Shiki's school. Due to her gentle, polite speech, the way she always lends a helping hand to those in need, and her ability to comfort those in grief, everybody at school considers her a person of integrity even more reliable than the teachers. In reality, she is an executor sent by the Church to stamp out heresy, and a member of the organization known as the Burial Agency.
She possesses combat ability specialized for fighting vampires, and her own potential also exceeds the realm of humans.
However, she is not a mere brute – her skills as an intelligence agent are quite high as well. For instance, she can implant suggestions using sorcery. It's because of this that nobody around her gave the name Ciel (which by all rights should have raised some eyebrows) a second thought.
Though she came to Misaki hunting a certain Dead Apostle, once there she encountered an even bigger prize: Arcueid Brunestud. As Arcueid's ally, Shiki should have been her enemy, but they nevertheless became friends.
Also, she's such a huge curry lover that she'd be happy eating nothing but curry rice with curry udon for lunch every single day. Ever since coming to Misaki, the Indian Curry House Messiaen has become something of an oasis for her.

    Ciel's Immortality [Circumstance]
After the obliteration of Roa, Ciel lost her characteristic immortality.
Ciel naturally reverted to having a body that would "die if killed" since the World no longer needed to kept her alive to sustain Order.
However, Ciel was still tough. No matter what, Ciel's body was still the one that "survived" after being killed by Arcueid and abandoned by Roa's soul. Its power of regeneration was exceptional.
Still, she would not resurrect if killed. In order to kill someone who could regenerate like Ciel, it was best to destroy the brain, where the Magic Circuits converge.

    Black Keys [Weapon name]
The throwing swords wielded by Ciel.
Weapons for use against vampires, monsters that distort the laws of nature. These "keys of providence" call forth the original laws of nature the vampire was subject to as a human.
Ciel carries a large number of these concealed on her person, but what's under her robes is actually just the hilts. She materializes the blades by passing magical energy through pages of the bible. Because the black keys are quite compact before this transformation, the maximum number she is able to conceal at one time is close to 100.
Despite their appearance black keys are not designed for swordplay, but are in fact throwing weapons. The Burial Agency even has a secret technique called the Iron Plate Effect that allows them to throw more effectively.
Because Ciel has mastered this technique, her black keys are capable of boring through concrete walls. They are counted as one of the basic weapons of the Church, but the fact that they're relatively hard to use means that very few executors favor them.
Also, besides the Iron Plate Effect, there are other secret throwing techniques such as the Cremation Rite and Internment Rite. The Cremation Rite, in particular, is used in Ciel's Last Arc.

    Iron Plate Effect [Unusual talent]
A special way of using Ciel's throwing swords.
Though her swords are clearly designed as piercing weapons, for some reason or another whatever they hit is totally blown away. When Arcueid was hit with a barrage of them in the Ciel route, it was enough to send her tumbling from one end of the park to the other.
This phenomenon is called the Iron Plate Effect. It seems Arcueid assumed that there was some kind of enchantment applied to the swords that caused the force at the moment of impact to be multiplied dozens of times, but in reality this is the result of martial arts and not sorcery. It is nothing less than the Burial Agency's secret throwing technique. For the sake of tomorrow, hit the opponent like you're trying to bore right through them!

The blades are engraved with spells, causing targets to burst into flames after being pierced. It sees very little use amongst the Church's Executors. It's because Ciel doesn't believe in Christianity at all that she makes use of these heresies with impunity.
The source of Ciel's sorcery is the knowledge she inherited from Roa. Aside from the Cremation Rite, there is also the Internment Rite, which turns the target into stone, the Mummification Rite, which desiccates the target, and the Excarnation Rite, which causes countless crows to descend upon the target.
Ciel herself is reluctant to make use of Roa's knowledge, but if it's for the sake of annihilating Dead Apostles she'll use his (taboo) sorcery without even a bit of hesitation.

    •Assembly of the Eighth Sacrament
The remains and blood of saints, the nails that crucified Christ, the 30 silver coins of Judas, and other items with the holy attribute are call holy relics, and the special agency for collecting and managing these holy relics scattered across the globe is called the "Assembly of the Eighth Sacrament".
"Sacraments" refers to the seven graces that God bestows in the Catholic faith: Baptism, Holy Eucharist, Matrimony, Holy Orders, Confirmation, Penance, Anointing. The "Eighth Sacrament" refers to the "Grace that doesn't Exist" in the rightful faith. Put into other words, this can also be said to be "power separated from the faith". In other words, the Assembly of the Eighth Sacrament is a group of special clerics who do not fear being involved in heretical power such as magery, and are trained for retrieving the hidden relics.

Q: In the other Type-Moon works, who else besides Arc can fight against Servants?

A: If we're working on the condition of one on one, with an extremely average Noble Phantasm. Generally most of the 27 Ancestors, Kishima Kouma, Aozaki Aoko.
If it's just a defensive fight, but would still be a fight, then Ciel. Shiki (Rakkyo), Shiki (Tsukihime) are no match for Servants....but Ryougi Shiki (3rd personality) might be able to go as far as the Ciel class.

Q: If Caster and Ciel went full out on magic and fought each other, who would win?

A: That'd be Caster. A lot's been said, but see, she's a witch from the divine era, something that shouldn't be in the present. If it was a competition against human opponents, then Caster would present the most horrifying and greatest results among the HF 5 Servants..... Though, if Ciel got her hands on what lies within the deepest parts of the Evocationary area of the Association and sends the Seventh Scripture in her, things will be different.

Nasu Kinoko & Takeuchi Takashi • Character Discussion

    >The catalyst for Kirei Kotomine's birth

Nasu: I do feel like we might have been a little too intense with Kirei, but I've learned my lesson.

Takeuchi: Yeah, he was pretty scruffy right from the earliest design drafts. The trademarks of characters like this are always developed and emphasised over time.

Nasu: Kirei is just full of mystery, and part of that was because we wanted characters to suspect him of being a boss character upon first glance. We also wanted the players to dislike him, like he was the reason they didn't want to go to church. Another key phrase for Kirei's character was "dark saint". It was merely his beliefs that put him at odds with the game's protagonists, and he himself is not what you would consider a villain. Of course, from most perspectives, Kirei totally looks like your common bad guy.

Takeuchi: Kirei was one of those designs that came off as "all wrong" at first, wasn't he?

Nasu: I'll admit the initial draft showed me a man who wasn't at all the way I had pictured Kirei in my mind... but I also didn't think it was altogether wrong, so I decided to give it a fair shake.

Takeuchi: Kirei was based on a vocalist I really like. I did my best to infuse Kirei's design with the same distinct presence and charisma that said vocalist possesses. By the way, why did we add that whole Bajiquan bit to his concept?

Kirei: When you asked me if Kirei is a fighter type, I replied that he'd be able to fight using Black Keys at the very least, much like Ciel. That's when you started incessantly demanding that he be a Bajiquan fighter...

Takeuchi: Oh... right. (laughs) I thought it sounded like something I'd suggest.

Nasu: It came up when I was trying to figure out what type of martial arts Kirei would pursue, and I felt that Bajiquan would be a good fit for him. The whole idea of being strict with yourself and honing your physical body was right up Kirei's alley. This particular aspect of his concept really blossomed in "Zero".

    >Kirei's prowess

Nasu: You want to know exactly how powerful Kirei is? You'll have to ask Gen Urobuchi. (laughs)

Takeuchi: Well, after being doused in so much of the Holy Grail, I imagine his physical body has been weakened significantly from his "Zero" days.

Nasu: For someone who died like that to be alive ten years later is quite a feat in and of itself. Kirei has quite a few Command Spells on his arms, and we were actually thinking about using cool visual effects to show the Command Seals being expended when he was defeating Zouken in "stay night". Even a flesh-and-blood human could damage a Heroic Spirit by using ten or so Command Spells. Unfortunately, we didn't get the change to show this because True Assassin was less effective than we had all hoped. (laughs)

Takeuchi: I imagine people who played the game felt the same way, though it remains unclear as to whether it was a case of Kirei being too strong or True Assassin not being strong enough.

Nasu: True Assassin is a careful servant who never lowers his guard. He uses distance to defend against and ultimately finish the target. As his final checkmate move, True Assassin uses Zabaniya: Delusional Heartbeat, but even he wasn't sure what to think when he tried to use his Noble Phantasm on Kirei.

Takeuchi: He was like "This guy doesn't even have a heart...?"

Nasu: That was all the opportunity Kirei needed to get to Zouken... so it was definitely True Assassin's lack of preparation that resulted in Zouken's demise.

Takeuchi: I don't think anyone can really blame him, though. Why would anyone stop to think that this living, breathing human being might not have a normal human heart, right?

Nasu: Kirei's role in Sakura's route was essentially the opposite of the whole "wouldn't it be scary if Saber was an enemy?" concept in that we took the guy everyone hated and made him a formidable ally. I believe that particular idea was summed up well in that one scene where Kirei was running with Illya in his arms. While Shirou was the uncertain adolescent in "stay night", Kirei had already dealt with his uncertainties by "Zero", making him incredibly powerful. When infiltrating Einzbern Castle, Kirei asked "You haven't even been rock climbing before?" as if it was the most basic milestone of childhood. It makes you wonder about Kirei's childhood... (laughs)

Takeuchi: Speaking of being powerful... Who's stronger: Ciel or Kirei?

Nasu: Ciel is by far more powerful. Just take her lineage into consideration, and add to that her immortality. Kirei's prowess in "Zero" was rooted in the sheer number of Command Spells at his disposal as much as it was in his obsession with Kiritsugu. Suffice to say, it was his golden age. I believe the "Zero" Kirei could have defeated Ciel.

    >Regarding Kirei's character design

Takeuchi: I wanted to make Kirei as manly as possible. The way his hair curls up at his collar was part of that, but it came to be described as merely "unkempt"...

Nasu: During the hanafuda mini-game in "hollow", Taiga mentions her desire to cut off all that mess.

Takeuchi: I'm certain Kirei likes his hairstyle.

Nasu: Every morning, he looks at himself in the mirror and predicts how each day will go based on the way his hair curls... like a horoscope!

    >The message Kirei carries as a character

Nasu: He is the greatest of villains, but he is not a contradiction. His premise may be a paradox but he, as a man, is not. "stay night" was my attempt at telling a story without an absolute evil. When you have an obvious "evil" milling about in your story, it almost always turns out to be the same thing... the feeble pursuit of anything that might justify one's own convictions. When all was said and done, it would have been easy to declare both Kirei and Zouken as evil. While Zouken may have been a villain, he did hold himself to a higher standard and his ambitions were guided by something greater than himself. Meanwhile, the final confrontation between Kirei and the main character revealed that Kirei was a sort of "mirror" to Shirou. This whole story was based on the theme of "All the World's Evil", and in that sense you could say Kirei was "the other protagonist". The irony of Kirei's role is reflected in his name which, in terms of Japanese definitions, is actually quite beautiful. All of this resulted in my growing quite fond of Kirei despite the fact that he is not the main character, and that in turn led to him having way too many lines of dialogue. I had to go in more than once and edit out some of his lines.

Takeuchi: You know, some people believe that Kirei intentionally lost to Shirou at the end.

Nasu: Simply put, they just ran out of time. Kirei didn't really care whether he won that fight or not, but I will say that he definitely did not take it easy on Shirou. I think the illustration added for the final battle in the PS2 version was pretty cool.

Takeuchi: I really wanted to portray the fact that Kirei "doesn't have a heart" through an illustration, and I am sad that I couldn't. Regardless, Sakura's route was the grand stage for Kirei.

Nasu: I loved that scene where Kirei was running with ease as he carries Illya in his arms. In my mind, that represents the epitome of manliness! It really underlined the difference between him and Shirou, who is still a youth.

Takeuchi: Kirei is 193cm tall, which made Illya look even smaller. In a way, Kirei serves as a face from "Fate" as well.

Nasu: Yeah... and a really big one at that.

Takeuchi: Yeah, we might have made him a little too big. (laughs) The fact that he is second only to Berserker in size pretty much drives that point home.

  45. [v] Game Japan 2007-02 issue - How high (or low) are the talents of Emiya Shirou and Tohsaka Rin within the entire history of the Association?

GJ: I have a question about Fate characters. How high (or low) are the talents of Emiya Shirou and Tohsaka Rin within the entire history of the Association?
Nasu: Rin really is a genius. Given time, she'll enter within the top 100 magi of the Association throughout its entire history. Shirou won't move out from being an magus apprentice, but as a spell-user, he'll be among one of the big specialists. Ultimately, he'll receive an evaluation on the same level as "Magus Killer" Emiya Kiritsugu had in his peak, maybe. If I were to put into simple numbers, Ciel: 100, Rin: 70-100, Shirou: 10 (under particular limited conditions, then 40).

  47. Lunar Legend Tsukihime - Chapter 6
  48. [v] Tsukihime Dokuhon PlusPeriod - TSUKIHIME Dictionary: Ciel Somer [Technique name], p.180

    Ciel Somer [Technique name]
Not, as you might think, a misspelling of "Ciel Summer".
One of Ciel's new moves in Melty Blood Re-ACT. All her other moves are named normally, but this one is Ciel Somer. Ciel does a somersault, so it's called Ciel Somer.
That's all there is to it.
When we sent the list of skill names to French Bread, we had written "Ciel Somer (←This is serious)" down for this one, but apparently there was a misunderstanding and they thought the note in parentheses was actually part of the name. Really we were just trying to say that the name wasn't a joke, and we seriously wanted to call it Ciel Somer. Still, it was funny so we ended up deciding to use it anyway. Because of that, "Ciel Somer (Serious)" made its way into the game as a powered-up version of the move that shows up when you do a shield counter.
By the way, if you're wondering why this particular skill has such a strange name, it's because it’s a skill Ciel made up herself and not one from the Burial Agency. In short, she's the one that named it. Just thank God she didn't get to name any of the moves involving the Seventh Holy Scripture.

    Seventh Holy Scripture [Weapon name]
The conceptual armament that Ciel is authorized to carry. An iron hammer created by the Church in order to renounce the heretical doctrine of transmigration.
It was created by felling a miraculous beast said to consume souls, then using its horn as a key. The surface of the horn is inscribed with tightly-packed complaints about how "transmigration is really lame".
Since it's been almost a thousand years since it was first created, it even has an elemental living within it.
It was sanctified over the course of many years, but eventually fell into Ciel's hands.
"A horn!? That's not practical at all. The higher-ups are totally out of touch!"
Unable to hold herself back, she set about improving it, and because of that the Scripture's elemental ended up having the essence of its personality warped.
Before Ciel remodeled it, it was only effective against spiritual entities. Now, however, it has been transformed into a lump of iron that can pound a vampire to death with its physical attack power alone. It has a gross weight of 60 kilograms, and a maximum weight of twice that with optional attachments. It's a… Gatling scripture!?

During Ciel's Arc Drive, she drives the stake into her opponent. Afterward, what is ejected from the magazine is not an empty cartridge, but pages of the holy scripture. For vampires, this is no different from being directly injected with the holy scripture itself. There is no doubt that it is a surefire "Immortal Killer".

    Ciel-sensei [Colloquial term]
Administrator of the Tsukihime Help Corner.
The fact that she fits even better here than in the main story is almost frightening. As for why it's Ciel, well, basically we figured if we could turn an older-sister type character into the current Ciel, then turning the half-baked upperclassman Ciel into a teacher should be fine.
Since her partner Neco Arc made her solo debut in Melty Blood Re-act, there's a part of her that wants to force her way onto the stage, too.
