Mother of Mifune (観布子の母, Mifune no Haha?), real name unknown[2], is a street fortuneteller who works in Mifune City in Kara no Kyoukai: Mirai Fukuin.

The Mother of Mifune is a figure who has been working in Mifune for a long time, famous even during the late nineties for her supposed 100% prediction rate. She was especially popular during thriving fortune telling period around the time of Mikiya Kokutou's second year of high school. Famous for her style of predictions focusing on the avoidance of tragedies, she was said to have a 100% accuracy rate.
Since childhood, she had the ability to see the past, the present, and the future. Because of this, she was unable to live the life of a human, as her ability allowed her to see visions of her old and dying self when she was still a child, and vice versa. She became a fortune teller after graduating from high school.[1]
She herself, sullen at the idea, said, "I’m not predicting the future, so stop saying pointless things like that." This declaration caused her fans to stop spreading rumors outside of their friend circles, so the fanfare around her died down. As of 1996, there was no real news about her despite her fame.[3]

The Mother of Mifune is thought to be in her 60s, described as a large woman who wears mostly black and a veil that covers her face.[2] She possess the air of a typical fortune teller, displaying a crystal ball for the sake of appearance.[3]

Kara no Kyoukai: Mirai Fukuin[]
In January 1996, SHIKI, Shiki Ryougi's second personality, happens upon her while wandering the town contemplating fixated on his urge to kill. While SHIKI is on the edge with his desire to kill someone, she offers to tell his fortune, and she tells SHIKI that he is fated to die with no chance of avoidance. She is able to comfort him in the fact that his dream will live on despite his inevitable fate.[3]
In August 1998, Touko Aozaki tells Shiki and Mikiya to look for her as a possible suspect of the recent bombings after determining future sight is involved.[3]
During the Gospel of the Future story set after Shiki's child Mana Ryougi is ten years old, Mana and Mitsuru Kamekura seek her out under orders of Shiki.[3]

The Mother of Mifune's ability to see the future, described as an "imitation of precognition" by Touko, does not focus on specifically seeing any future, but rather the avoidance of tragedies through exact advice. It is said that this advice possessed a 100% accuracy rate.[3]
As of the time of Gospel of the Future, she can no longer see the future.[3]
