Miyu Edelfelt (美遊・エーデルフェルト, Miyu Ēderuferuto?) is a main character in Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA☆ILLYA. She also appears as Caster (キャスター, Kyasutā?), a Caster-class Servant summoned by Ritsuka Fujimaru in the Grand Orders of Fate/Grand Order.

Background[]
Miyu is the complete Holy Grail from the world in which the Class Cards originated. Her real name is Miyu Sakatsuki (朔月 美遊, Sakatsuki Miyu?) of the Sakatsuki family, the hidden descendant of the Child of God (神稚児, Kami Chigo?). She was raised carefully within the Sakatsuki residence and was given limited education, isolated from other children and relied only to her mother.
When Julian Ainsworth unleashed the black shadow in Fuyuki in the Fourth Holy Grail War, Miyu responded to the cries of the people and nullified the shadows. Shirou Emiya found her location when she activated the wish and saved her from a collapsing roof. Shirou brought Miyu back to Kiritsugu Emiya, who was thrilled to learn that she is the tool that he was looking for. Kiritsugu, Shirou and Miyu settled in the Emiya residence. Kiritsugu was researching on how to use Miyu before she loses her ability and treated Miyu coldly like a tool. However Miyu was attached to Shirou which caused Shirou to be emotionally conflicted.
After Kiritsugu's death, Shirou couldn't treat her like a tool or even raise her like a normal child, so she was confined within the Emiya residence. Shirou gave her textbooks for her education, but it was the knowledge that didn't hurt her and for non-practical use. When Miyu became ten years old, she had developed more human expressions. When Shirou reminisces Kiritsugu's last moments, Miyu unknowingly activated her wish that Shirou and Miyu become true siblings. Shirou at that moment decided to treat her more like a sister and to take her outside to see the ocean. Shirou took Miyu back to the Sakatsuki residence and tried to explain to her about her family and his intentions on saving her. Shirou's explanation was interrupted by Julian, when he accused Shirou to be a thief. Shirou tried to tell Miyu to run but she didn't know where to run and Julian kidnaps her.
After Shirou won the Fifth Ainsworth Holy Grail War, she is teleported to another Parallel world through Shirou's wish upon the Holy Grail. However, since Shirou was fighting Angelica in his Reality Marble, he was not taken with her with everything else in the cavern such as the Class Cards and the Holy Grail Ritual circle.[4] Later upon arriving in Illya's world, she was taken in by Luvia in her search to rival Illya and Rin's partnership.
Appearance[]
Miyu is a young girl with black hair tied in low pigtails, and golden-brown eyes. As a normal girl, she wears the standard uniform of her elementary school with long black knee socks, and other outfits usually picked by Luvia. When she becomes a magical girl with Kaleidostick Magical Sapphire she wears a cute blue and black outfit with a white cape and boots. She also wears a strap on her left leg where she keeps the Class Cards.
When she Installs the Saber Card, she wears an outfit that resembles the original Saber without the chest armor. When she Installs Rider, she wears the same outfit as the original counterpart. When installing the Archer Card containing Gilgamesh, she wears a armor and cape that resembles the original wearer except with the abdomen exposed.
When being held captive by the Ainsworth, she wears a revealing black dress with her hair tied to the side by a blue flower.
Before and during the Fifth Ainsworth Holy Grail War, she normally wears a kimono (a normal one and cooking apron). Her eyes were also notably red with a golden shine instead of golden-brown until she wished to be a real sister to Shirou, giving her Shirou's eye colour as proof of being biological siblings. When being used as a Holy Grail and granting Shirou's wish, she wears a black babydoll dress with three bottom ends that can shape the entire outfit like a cross.
When she wears a kimono, Illya points how Miyu looks like a natural Japanese beauty.

Personality[]
Originally, Miyu has a mature, dutiful, and rather unfriendly personality. She takes her duties as a Magical Girl very seriously and is initially dismissive of Illya's abilities. Despite being the age of an elementary schooler, her knowledge in physics and mathematics is at a university level; because of her scholarly mind, her communication skills lag substantially behind her age group as she tends to view everything more logically while explaining or exploiting the hard facts behind it, not understanding the emotions surrounding them. This side of her expresses how she lacks imagination and hints a sense of loss in child innocence. Despite this, she is shown to have vulnerable sides such being embarrass and being timid towards those who conveys acts of deep kindness and other possible overwhelming emotions like obsession.
When she opens up to those she becomes close to (mainly Illya), she exhibits the capacity to deeply care and is very dedicated towards them. This creates two sides to her personality where she can very affectionate and devoted to someone she cares for, but extremely cold and dismissive towards anyone else. Miyu seemly doesn't know the difference between friendship and love, switching instantly from aloof and distant to overly clingy, but Illya accepts her anyway and returns her friendship. Notably, Miyu sees Chloe as a rival for Illya's affection.
It is revealed in the past that she was originally stoic if not emotionless due to her duties of being the Holy Grail but showed sense of attachment. Her interactions with Shirou, who she eventually calls her brother, soon brought more color and emotions to her world while also bringing deep guilt and burden in her heart to the point that she was shocked and conflicted when she finds out that Illya's adoptive older brother was another Shirou Emiya. This, along with the Ainsworth's treatment towards her, unveils the reason behind the personality she had when she was first introduced. Because of her upbringings, the guilt, burden, and turmoil within herself brought her great despair that she almost gave up on the idea of hope, but after Illya and her allies/friends saved her, she begins to show resolve. Like Illya, Miyu also seeks a path where everyone can be saved.
She comes to value Illya's friendship greatly and is highly protective of her. This dedications goes as far as willing to risk her life for the sake of their friendship. She shows another side of her personality when she is around her brother, where she behaves like the young girl she actually is. These behaviors include wanting to be spoiled, like to wear animal onsies, and throwing a childish temper.
After reuniting with her brother and having the entire group stay in the Emiya residence, it was shown that she likes animal-themed pajamas; and acts rather spoiled in front of her brother.

Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA☆ILLYA[]
Miyu takes on the Edelfelt name after being taken in by Luvia. She lives in Luvia's mansion and acts as her maid to earn her keep. She uses Ruby's sister Kaleidostick, Sapphire, in order to transform, and she initially has a much better understanding of her abilities than Illya. She takes her role very seriously and treats Illya as a bothersome rival, though they eventually become close friends. She later gains the ability to use the Saber class card to embody the Heroic Spirit after seeing Illya perform it.
Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA☆ILLYA 2wei![]
Miyu continues to fight as a Magical Girl, dealing with the mysterious 8th Class Card. After dealing with Illya's split personality, Kuro, Miyu and co. fight the Enforcer, Bazett. They defeated Bazett and cooperated with her to capture the 8th Card. After spending some happy summertime days with her friends, Miyu and the others are alerted by Rin and Luvia to the eighth card's location. During these days, Miyu also expresses some hesitation about revealing her past to the others.
Upon arriving at the eighth's card location, it is revealed that the 8th Card had come from another Holy Grail ritual. Confronting the newly summoned Archer Servant (Gilgamesh), Illya inadvertently splits the Servant into two and it gains a physical body, in the form of Child Gilgamesh. After dressing himself, Gilgamesh revealed that Miyu is technically a princess who comes from a parallel world. As he is explaining this, Gilgamesh's main body tries to absorbed Miyu to power itself up. However, she is saved by Illya using the combined power of the Ruby and Sapphire sticks with help from Chloe and the others.[6]
After being saved from Black Gilgamesh by Illya, Miyu was re-captured by sudden intruders from another world, Beatrice and Angelica and was taken back to her world.[7]
Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA☆ILLYA 3rei!![]
In Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA☆ILLYA 3rei!!, Miyu is a captive for the first half of the series. After Miyu was taken back to her own world, she was kept locked up and held captive inside the Ainsworth Castle where Julian Ainsworth possessed by Darius Ainsworth threatened her into giving up her blood to carry out a magic ritual that carves out his own heroic epic onto stone tablets by threatening to kill Miyu's older brother (the Shirou Emiya of her world). Over this period, Miyu bonds with Erika Ainsworth, who she sympathizes with and tells Erika all about Illya.
During Illya's rescue attempt, Miyu is convinced again by Julian that her world is dying and that the only way she can save it is by forfeiting her own life. While Julian (still possessed by Darius) tries to convince Illya to make a choice between saving the world or saving Miyu, Miyu's body becomes wrapped by invisible chains. However, Illya's declaration of choosing to save both and to use the Holy Grail to wish for everyone's happiness makes Miyu so happy, she breaks free of them and reunites with Illya, Sapphire and the others.
After Miyu is rescued from Darius, the group reconvenes at the Emiya's old house where Shirou reveals his and Miyu's origins. After Shirou ended his story, Illya and the others were in shock and tears at all of it (with Rin and Luvia in particular distraught at what happen with Sakura Matou). The revelations prompted Illya to tell Shirou what happened to Miyu in her own world. Later, during the fight against Julian, Beatrice and Erika who was later revealed to be Pandora. She and Chloe fought Sakura who was a difficult opponent due to her Imaginary Number, she then tries to defeat her by using Hassan of Serenity's poison and striking her Heart with Gáe Bolg but to no effect. However to her confusion Sakura jumps to the mud as she and Chloe confronts Julian.
As she, Illya, and Chloe confront Julian and Pandora. They accused them of being liars, with Illya in particular asking Julian if what he wish is Pandora's death. Then why is his face look so sad. Julian furious at this proceeds to try and kill Illya only to be defeated due to using Artoria, Medusa, and Heracles' Class Cards. Julian then admits defeat. However, Darius assumes full control of his body and wounds Pandora in the process, boldly challenging Illya, Miyu and Chloe to the final battle.
He then proceeds to defeat the girls and destroys most of their Class Cards, realizing that she was about to die, Chloe made a last-ditch attack against Darius when he felt his hand inside of her, ramming the Origin Bullet of Kiritsugu Emiya's she was given by Shirou into her chest to get at Darius' hand. Though he succeeds in destroying her Class Card, the bullet of the Magus Killer finds its mark; as a being who only lives because of his permanently-active Conceptual Replacement, Darius suffers the full wrath of the Origin Bullet as his body and magic circuits undergo a catastrophic failure, dispelling his Conceptual Replacement of Julian and utterly obliterating the thousand year old magus.[8]
However, all of it was for naught as Darius survived and proceeds to summon many Headless Giants, transforming into one himself. One of his hand comes down on the two girls, and Miyu pushes Illya away to save her, ending up crushed and most likely killed in the process.[9] Darius proceeds to engulf the world in the mud,[9] killing everyone except for Illya,[10] who then decides to erase herself from existence by using Starlog to give the others a fighting chance.[11] In the new timeline, Miyu avoids being crushed by the giant hand and was the one who "defeated" Darius. She is crying but she doesn't know why, as if she lost someone. As Julian is lamenting the situation, she declares that she won't ever give up and that she will take back the world and "that person", which convinces Julian to reluctantly join forces with her.[12] They are reunited with Beatrice and Bazett, and she tells them that she feels there is someone she needs to take back. Beatrice remembers that it was Illya, causing Miyu and the others to also remember her and Chloe. Miyu, remembering Illya's words, vows to take her back.[13]
As she confronts Darius, Miyu then realize that, in this timeline, she never lost her powers as the Child of God and proceeds to use them to summon the Fifth Holy Grail War Servants.[14] Seeing all of this, Darius tries to destroy them with his Headless Giants' King, only for it to be destroyed by Artoria, Cu Chulainn, Medusa, Medea, and Heracles.[15] Darius tries to escape, only for Cursed Arm to catch him with Zabaniya. EMIYA, who manifested himself after Rule Breaker was used on Shirou, proceeds to shoot at Darius, who tries to catch the arrow only for Miyu to push it with her shoot spell, causing it to explode alongside Darius.[16]
Fate/Grand Order[]
Event: Prisma Causeway[]
Miyu and Illyasviel von Einzbern were on their way to the Mirror World when the First Lady summoned them into her Reality Marble.[17][18] They were attacked by Connacht ☆ Medb, allowing the First Lady disguised as one of Medb's familiar to capture Miyu.[19] Miyu was then imprisoned in the First Lady's castle and restrained in the Anti-Magical Girl Mystic Code, Voile de Deuil, for he purposes of harvesting her magical energy.[18][20]
Magical Sapphire eventually found her and attempted to cut her free. But Miyu stops her to protect her from the restraints' magical energy-draining function. She then tells her to find Illya and warn her of how terrifying their enemy is.[21] Later, she met the First Lady herself and discovered she was a possessed Chloe von Einzbern.[22] Afterward, she has Sapphire record a message for Illya or an associate of hers. In the message, she explains where she is and reveals the First Lady has been luring Magical Girls from various worlds into the Reality Marble. She speculates it is for a nefarious purpose, believing it is connected to her imprisonment. She warns Illya not to come to the castle, instead urging her to send someone else. The patrolling familiar soon returns, so Miyu sends Sapphire out with the message.[18]
Miyu dreams of the First Lady's past, particularly the moments involving her friend Mila.[23] From this, Miyu comes to realize that the First Lady's wish for Magical Girls to continue saving people is to atone for killing her friend.[24]
Ritsuka's party eventually find their way into the First Lady's castle.[25] Miyu asks Illya to help the First Lady, saying she has an impossible wish in her. The First Lady is soon defeated and Miyu is freed from her restraints. She tells the First Lady that she can't accept that her wish is about atonement, saying it differs from Illya's pure feelings. She then urges Illya to tell the First Lady her feelings. Afterward, Mahatma ♀ Helena enters the castle and takes everyone outside.[24]
There Magical Ruby has the passive Echo possess Illya. Miyu suspects the girl possessing Illya is the one from her dreams. The First Lady realizes she is her friend Mila. Helena convinces the First Lady to give her ownership of the Reality Marble to serve as a refuge for wounded Magical Girls to stop them from becoming like the First Lady. The First Lady and Mila then reconcile and disappear. Afterward, Miyu remarks to herself about how the First Lady was saved thanks to Illya, Mila, and Chloe. Chloe notices the gentle look in Miyu's eyes and asks her if she sees her in a new light. Miyu answers she doesn't and states she is going to bill her for the psychological pain she suffered. She then expresses gratitude to Ritsuka, impressed by their strong will to help others. Afterward, everyone uses the power of the jewels to return their respective worlds.[24]

As a normal elementary school student, Miyu possesses knowledge and athletic skills that make her a genius even among adults.
Miyu fighting Chloe
As a Magical Girl, Miyu is able to utilize the Mystic Code Kaleidostick, Magical Sapphire, to tap into mana from parallel worlds and gains virtually unlimited magical energy. She also can utilize Class Cards; Including them to provide her Heroic Spirit's Noble Phantasm and Installing them to gains Heroic Spirit's abilities.

As the Child of God, she possess the capacity into becoming a complete Holy Grail unlike Illya or Chloe who are only Lesser Grails. However, this power seems to have disappeared after she turned 10 years old. It is shown that certain rituals/preparations are required for her to function as a Holy Grail that can grant wishes. Like in the original Fate/Stay Night, one of those rituals is the Holy Grail War. In accordance to certain wishes, Miyu could end up forfeiting her life to grant those wishes. Her powers are also superior to the point that she can summon Servants without a need of a Catalyst as shown during her fight with Darius, where she calls upon the actual Heroic Spirits of the Fifth Holy Grail War.

- Magic Resistance (B Rank): A powerful Magecraft barrier granted to Miyu during her transformation. Invalidates magecraft with a chant of three verses or lower. Cannot defend against greater magecraft and Greater Rituals. It also affects other statuses such as physical protection, healing acceleration, and corporal ability strengthening in the transformed state.[3]
- Infinite Mana Supply (B Rank): Literally infinite mana is supplied from the Kaleidostick. However, its output is restricted by the performance of the practitioner’s Magic Circuits.[3]
Personal Skills[]
- Cheerful Model Mystic Code (Younger Sister) (A Rank): Magical Sapphire. The "younger sister" of a strange wand. Compared to the excitable older sister, this one is calm and rational. Because she is an artificial spirit, she still has a penchant for messing with her Master, and her inclination to cause all manner of trouble for fun has not changed.[3]
- Maiden's Willpower (B Rank): Miyu’s strength of will has been sublimated into a skill. Her noble determination won’t be shaken by half-hearted things, and enables Battle Continuation even if she receives a lethal wound. This isn’t something congenital, but a spirituality acquired by going through several experiences. But perhaps her obstinacy may be similar to her old brother’s.[3]
- Wish of the Child of God (EX Rank): A Skill that minimally releases the property that indiscriminately realizes the wishes of oneself and others. Her wish will surely reach the heavens.[3]
- Hypnotic Radio Waves (A Rank): A mysterious feature built in Sapphire. Spreads radio waves with a powerful hypnotic effect, and overwrites the memories of the humans in the surroundings. If used for evil it could ruin a country, but unlike Ruby she doesn’t make use of it for fun, so please rest assured. Furthermore, maybe because it burdens the brain, the IQ of the hypnotized humans decreases by 1. (Unused in 『FGO』)[3]
Noble Phantasms[]
Miyu's Noble Phantasm is Wish Upon a Star. The God Child's ability to grant wishes is temporarily wielded in a limited fashion. Since the Noble Phantasm is realized by focusing on Master's single wish to protect humanity, a trusting relationship is absolutely essential to success.

"Taking notes from Illya, the first and second Ascensions are her usual looks. The third Ascension is the form of the if of「What if she became a magical girl while retaining the power of the God's Child……」. Sapphire reads the mood and changes as well. For Miyu the power of the God's Child is like a curse from a certain lineage, but on the other hand there’s the aspect that she was able to meet her old brother and Illya because she had that power. The Miyu who naturally uses the power of the God's Child, understanding and accepting it, is a form I couldn’t draw in the original story so I feel very happy to have been able to introduce it in FGO. Reality Marble, Infinite Creation of Swords.
A different world from this one, the imagined world that a man whose Origin became “Sword” due to certain circumstances reached. It was High-Thaumaturgy that the Shirou from this world originally couldn’t reach, but it became usable for a limited time after being corroded by the Heroic Spirit of a Card.
That imagined landscape is a snowy field in the dark night. Without stars or roads, and only just the crescent moon faintly illuminates Shirou. The innumerable stuck swords give the impression of the mountain of corpses that that Heroic Spirit saw. It’s a space supplied with every sword from every time and place, and swords come flying to Shirou’s hands, or to the enemy, the instant he wishes for it. That is faster than Projection by far, and it even outdoes the speed at which swords are produced from The King’s Treasure.
That said, because it is helpless against swords that don’t exist within the Bounded Field, regarding Ig-Alima and Sul-sagana he could project them superficially right after seeing them, and somehow managed to do it by hitting them and averting their trajectory. This cheat style… So you have received the protection of the Holy Grail, haven’t you?
The instant Miyu flew to another world, the mana path was cut off, and he became unable to maintain the Reality Marble. As a result he lost the battle, but the wish of the big brother who wagered his life was granted. By the way, at this time Miyu’s world and Illya’s world changed places together with the space of the Great Cavern, but there is the trick of Shirou and Angelica not being affected since they were within the Reality Marble. I hate how complicated this is.無限の剣製【宝具/魔術】

こことはまた違う世界、とある事情により起源が「剣」になってしまった男が至った心象世界。こちらの世界の士郎では本来到達できない大魔術であったが、カードの英霊に侵食されることで限定的に使用可能となった。
その心象風景は闇夜の雪原。星も道もなく、かろうじて上弦の月だけが士郎を儚げに照らす。無数に突き刺さった剣は、かの英霊が見たであろう死体の山を思わせる。古今東西のあらゆる剣が収められた空間であり、士郎が念じた瞬間剣は手元、あるいは敵に飛来する。それは投影よりも遥かに早く、王の財宝から剣を取り出す速度すらも凌駕する。
とはいえ、結界内に存在しない剣はどうしようもないため、イガリマとシュルシャガナに関しては目視した直後にハリボテ品を投影し、ぶつけて軌道をそらすことでなんとかやりすごした。このチートっぷり……さては貴様、聖杯の加護を受けているな？
