BedivereWP (ベディヴィエールWP, Bediviēru?), Class Name Saber (セイバー, Seibā?) is a Saber-class Servant summoned by Ritsuka Fujimaru in the Grand Orders of Fate/Grand Order.

Profile[]

Identity[]

The first member of the Knights of the Round Table, who served as the steward of the royal court, the king's care-taker.[1][3] Compared to the Bedivere of the Fate/stay night timeline, the Bedivere of Fate/Grand Order is an alternate possibility, wherein he hasn't returned Excalibur before Artoria dies. Despite not being as popular as knights like Lancelot, Percival, and Galahad, who embarked on the quest for the Holy Grail, he was one of the most senior knights along with Kay and Gawain, displaying a history even older than Arthur, whose name was thought to be derived from the ancient War God of the Celts, Bedwyr.[3] He eventually came to serve the young king out of admiration of her, entrusting his sword to her and working to become her personal guard. Seeing her indifference as her trying to be fair without allowing her personal feelings to interfere, he most wished to see her true face and expressions by being near her. Although he thought her true self would become apparent outside of her court duties, his eventual promotion to the rank of Imperial Guard proved him wrong. Although he guarded her more closely than the other knights and constantly watched her behavior, he was unable to see her smile even once.

This Bedivere lived as "if that did not returned King Arthur's holy sword", and King Arthur died. As atonement, he kept on living during a long time for the sake of "returning the holy sword this time for sure", and eventually ran out of strength at Avalon.[1] Not an actual Heroic Spirit, but rather a human from the distant past, he is granted power enough to battle the Knights of the Round Table by Merlin.[1]

Appearance[]

Over 10 kg of his weight corresponds to the "silver arm".[1]

Personality[]

Bedivere is exceptionally loyal to his king, putting her well-being above his own and even her own orders on her deathbed. He does not see serving as a knight solely serving the King herself, but the people of Camelot, whom they had shared mutual desire of care and love for. As someone who had been chosen for his compassion and empathy to become a Knight of the Round Table, Bedivere can be seen as someone who is the most "human" amongst his comrades, having been able to share the joy and grief of the common people that the other knights may have deemed as trivial.[3]

Unlike those knight who had begun to drift away from her and those who saw her as inhuman due to her lack of emotion, he feels pride in her and remains loyal throughout Mordred's rebellion. He later begins to even feel some anger towards the situation, believing that she who has accomplished such great deeds should be granted the ability to show a peaceful face.[3]

Bedivere's personality in the game is further expanded upon, and his more prominent characteristics of being just and righteous comes through during the Camelot singularity, having shown that his loyalty towards the King is not out of the vanity of Knighthood, expressing that he believed a King should not endanger the common people. He sees himself, as a Knight of the Round Table, bearing the responsibility to stop the King that has gone astray, and was determined to stop destruction with any means.

Relationships[]

Artoria Pendragon (Lancer)
"The "Knight King" alike with mine own king. To say that the sight of her brings not disorder to my heart in the slightest would be a lie. Be that as it may, yes. She is not mine king."
Artoria Pendragon
"Mine king who hold of the holy sword----- How very similar. An ally who is the same person, yet at the same time, different. May her future be blessed and filled with shining happiness."
"My king, even if not Britain, my loyalty to you remains unshakable."[4]
Arthur Pendragon
"Ah, my king from a different world. How do you do? ...If you have the time, would you care to speak with me?"[4]
Knights of the Round Table
"As I thought, once again they are not they who fought together with me. And yet they are important for me. My dear brothers. Indeed, from my heart can I speak of those words."
"Knights of the Round Table, I have seen dreams of times like this, our forces aligned."[4]
Tristan
"It may be that he does not fully comprehend that I am not the Bedivere that he knew. he would not have been so familiar with me otherwise... Nay. I may have spoken beyond imprudence. He is a knight deep in emotion. It would not be strange were he already knew of everything and have thought of is considerably."
Mordred
"...This air of rebellion... No, wait, Sir Mordred may have a foul mouth and a bad attitude, but secretly she's a proper knight... Prejudice is not good... I think..."[4]
Gareth
"I would not wish for such a heartbreaking thought for the second time upon little Gareth (actually here is Gareth-chan but I'm not comfortable using it) Smiling face suits her the most."
"Ah! Sir Gareth! I see...at last you have also arrived... Oh... Have you gone to see Sir Lancelot? What about Sir Gawain? Uh-huh...I see... No, there is no need for alarm . It's just...some dust in my eye..."[4]
Percival
"Sir Percival! ...Oh my, what are you scanning your eyes around for? Ahh... this right arm of mine? It's a long story... I'm not exactly the Bedivere of your timeline... Ahh no no, I don't mean to confuse you. Yes, allow me to explain."[4]
Arash / Hassans / Xuanzang Sanzang / Tawara Touta
"Those who remember of those days are only I, Master, Mash, and Da Vinci. Still, I am glad. For I can, once again, exchanged words with them."
Lucius Tiberius
"An enemy who once crossed swords with mine king. In the "Histories of the Kings of Britain", he killed me. In actuality, while I was indeed injured in that battle, I did not lose my life. And yet, at the end of a long journey, my body was already no different from that of a dying one. ...Therefore, I used the name of the enemy general who was said to have killed me as mine own."

Fate/Grand Order[]

Sixth Singularity: Camelot[]

Failing to return Excalibur to Vivian, Bedivere spent 1500 years searching for Artoria Pendragon, kept alive by the holy sword itself. Because of his failure, Artoria was unable to die, and with Rhongomyniad still in hand, she wandered the earth and eventually became a Divine Spirit. Bedivere eventually ended up in Avalon, found at its edge by the fairies as a human-shaped rock. Merlin told him the Artoria that became Goddess Rhongomyniad is an impossibility that only manifested thanks to the Singularity’s influence. While Merlin knew the Artoria who went to Avalon, Bedivere knew the Artoria who became Goddess Rhongomyniad. Merlin then gave Bedivere a chance to complete the final task given to him by Artoria. He casts a spell on him to hide his true identity from others. The Knights of the Round Table will awaken to the truth of Goddess Rhongomyniad if they learn of Bedivere’s true identity. If they know, they’ll try to stop him from reaching Goddess Rhongomyniad, who no longer remembers him. Merlin warns him he’ll die regardless of the upcoming battle’s result, as his soul is already exhausted. Despite knowing that, Bedivere still wishes to complete his journey. Merlin then disguises Excalibur as Airgetlám and warns Bedivere it’ll use his soul as fuel with every use. He then transports him to the Singularity.[5]

Bedivere arrives in the wasteland, calling his own impoverished homeland prosperous in comparison. He then begins his journey to find Goddess Rhongomyniad.[6] While crossing the Egyptian desert, he witnesses Ritsuka’s party stop Hassan of the Hundred Faces and her compatriots from kidnapping Nitocris. He helps the group fight the sphinx summoned by Nitocris, introducing himself as Lucius. After killing the sphinx, he explains to Nitocris that the group saved her, having witnessed it himself. He warns she risks both a fight and losing standing with Ozymandias if she refuses to believe. He further asks her if the knights of the Holy City have reason to abduct her. Nitocris realizes her error and decides to bring the group to Ramesseum Tentyris as a show of gratitude.[7] After Nitocris clears the sandstorm, Bedivere departs from the group since the temple isn't his destination.[8]

He eventually comes to the Holy City of Camelot and hides himself amongst the refugees. When Mash is struggling against Gawain, he arrives to help her. He criticizes Gawain’s denouncement of Mash’s beliefs, saying individual beliefs and actions on the battlefield are separate. He then uses Airgetlám to disable Gawain’s Gift, and fights him before collapsing from using Airgetlám. Mash carries him as they escape while Gawain is disoriented by Da Vinci’s flashbang.[9]

After successfully escaping, Bedivere thanks the group for their help. He negotiates with the refugee leader to guide them to the nearby Saracen village without incident in exchange for their protection. After he convinces the refugee leader to act as a mediator, the group takes a break before heading north. Bedivere apologizes for using a false name before, as he couldn’t fully trust the group then. He confesses he originally intended to enter Camelot to ask Goddess Rhongomyniad about her actions. He agrees with Romani Archaman that the Knights of the Round are only focusing on turning Camelot into a utopia. He then admits Merlin sent him into the Singularity and told him of Chaldea’s mission. The Knights of the Round already conquered the Holy Land from the Crusaders and constructed Camelot when he arrived. He also admits his Airgetlám is a replica provided by Merlin to compensate for his one arm, though it’ll burn him with excessive use. Eventually, Lancelot and his knights, who were sent to capture them, attack the group. They fight them until Da Vinci converts her vehicle into a bomb and drives it into the knights, allowing the others to escape.[10]

As they continue their journey, the group notices the land has been scarred by indiscriminate use of Rhongomyniad. Bedivere proclaims the Round Table has fallen and considers Artoria now to be a tyrant worse than a Vortigern. He therefore decides that for the people’s sake, Goddess Rhongomyniad is an existence that can’t be forgiven and must be eradicated. The group eventually near the eastern mountain village when Hassan of the Cursed Arm arrives. He lets the refugees take shelter, but he attacks the group, as he is wary that they’re allied with Camelot. He tries to continue fighting despite his injuries until Arash stops him and convinces him to let the group into the village.[10]

In the village, Bedivere declares his intention to return to Camelot alone, but he’s convinced he can’t in his condition. Later that night, he tells Mash that the Heroic Spirit fused her is a Knight of the Round. He refuses to divulge the knight’s name though, believing Mash should discover it herself. He questions if Mash can fight against the knight’s former comrades. Mash realizes her mental fatigue when she saw Camelot and fought Gawain was because the knight refused to believe it’s the work of Artoria. Bedivere agrees, believing Goddess Rhongomyniad’s actions aren’t those of the Artoria they know. He then asks Ritsuka and Mash why they intend to fight against Camelot if they intend to correct the era, calling Chaldea neutral. Nonetheless, he is delighted to hear they’ll fight against Camelot. He decides he’ll try to convince Cursed Arm to fight alongside him tomorrow.[11]

The next day, Cursed Arm explains the other villages, each protected by a Hassan, are gathering forces to fight the Lion King. He accepts the group as allies after fighting them with Arash. He is then warned of an attack on the western village by Mordred.[11]

Given it would take two days to travel to the western village, Arash launches himself and the others there. They ambush and kill several of Mordred’s knights when Mordred confronts them. She reminds Bedivere that he never won against her and fights him. Impressed by Airgetlám, she wonders where Bedivere got it since she doesn’t remember him having it. Bedivere insults her intelligence like he always did. But Mordred reminds him he only sat in the extra seat and wouldn't have been Artoria’s attendant if Agravain didn’t die. She boasts he is nothing compared to her, saying Artoria only took a liking to him. Bedivere doesn’t contest he is inferior to the other knights, but Artoria relied on him until her last breath. Merlin granted him Airgetlám to repay her kindness. Mordred decides to kill him, saying she’ll not even report about him to the Lion King. Enraged she is losing despite her Gift, Mordred removes her helmet as her armor rejects her Gift. She prepares to launch Clarent Blood Arthur, but Arash shoots her joints to stop her. Mordred then retreats since her unit was eliminated, saying she’ll fight the group in Camelot. The village is successfully protected, but Bedivere passes out from the strain.[12]

He recovers by the time Ritsuka’s party recruits Xuanzang Sanzang and Tawara Touta and rescues Hassan of Serenity. The group realizes they’re seriously outmatched in terms of power and numbers. They also recognize they need someone to fight Gawain since their assault on Camelot will always fail as long as he’s at the front gate. Serenity suggests going to the Shrine of Azrael to ask for the First Hassan, whose location she was tortured for. Bedivere recalls Merlin telling him to visit Hassan if he is to rise against Goddess Rhongomyniad. Cursed Arm agrees with the idea and tells the others to return to the eastern village.[13]

As the group travel back to the eastern village, Hundred Faced parts ways with them to gather more troops. Two days later, they return to the village. Bedivere agrees with Serenity’s description that Hassan is stronger than even Goddess Rhonghomyniad. To Hassan, all Servants are equal to his blade, and those who oppose him are killed by “their own fate”. Bedivere claims his knowledge of Hassan is second-hand from a mage when Cursed Arm asks how a Knight of the Round would know. Before Bedivere leaves with the others, Arash tells him not to force himself. Declaring the Knights of the Round fight the wrong way, he tells Bedivere to make a choice where everyone survives. Bedivere agrees, finding it especially meaningful coming from Arash.[14]

The group reaches the Shrine after a day and enters after defeating its ghost guardians. Hassan agrees to help fight the Lion King but decides to punish the group for entering the Shrine. He’ll forgive their transgression if they pass his trial. He then takes control of Serenity to fight the group as part of the trial, which they pass. Hassan agrees to aid against the Lion King once the group learns the truth of the Lion King, Ozymandias, and the Incineration of Humanity. When Hassan prepares to execute Cursed Arm, Bedivere questions the need to do so. Hassan answers it is because any Hassan who asks for his assistance is considered unworthy of the title. After deciding to postpone Cursed Arm's execution, Hassan directs the group to the Atlas Institute in the desert as where they can learn all the answers.[14]

The group returns to the eastern village, only to find it besieged by forces led by Tristan and Lancelot. Bedivere, Touta, and Sanzang go to rescue the villagers, while the others fed off the attack. When Ritsuka, Mash, and Serenity are about to be killed by Tristan, Bedivere arrives just in time to stop him. He rebukes him for killing innocent villagers and burning the village, saying he lost his pride as a Knight of the Round. Tristan calls it a mistake to think a Knight of the Round wouldn’t harm an innocent commoner and recalls how Artoria only warned against going too far but never forbade it. He chides Bedivere for only seeing Artoria's glory and not understanding her horror. He then sends Bedivere into a rage by reiterating that Artoria doesn’t understand people’s feelings. Bedivere says because they were friends, he cannot forgive Tristan’s actions. The group fights Tristan again with Bedivere’s help, but he still overwhelms them. Sanzang, Touta, and Cursed Arm then arrive to help. However, they all bear witness as Rhongomyniad destroys the western village. Tristan then leaves, warning Rhongomyniad will strike the eastern village in five minutes. A grievously injured Arash then arrives, calling his resolve nothing compared to Bedivere’s loyalty. He understands Bedivere can only Airgetlám use one more time. It was thanks to his Clairvoyance that he knew the truth about Bedivere. The others then evacuate while Arash successfully counters Rhongomyniad with Stella.[15]

The following day, the village holds a funeral for those lost, including Arash. Cursed Arm reveals Hundred Faces evacuated most of the western village before it was destroyed. He implores Ritsuka to head for the Atlas Institute before Camelot attacks the village again. In the meantime, he and the other Hassans will gather their forces for the assault on Camelot. He agrees with Romani to rendezvous in the village for final confirmation on the assault once Ritsuka returns. Before leaving, he tells Bedivere that he will never forgive the Knights of the Round for what happened. He warns him that no mercy shall be given if he defends Tristan. Bedivere swears he will not, saying all the injustices committed by the Knights of the Round are their responsibility. He implores Cursed Arm to treat him like the other knights if Goddess Rhongomyniad is exposed as the true evil. He then leaves for the desert with Ritsuka, Mash, Sanzang, and Touta.[15]

Using a map from an agent of Hundred Faces, the group searches the desert for the Atlas Institute. Soon they're confronted by Lancelot and his knights, who were sent to capture them. Bedivere asks him why he chose to serve Goddess Rhongomyniad. Lancelot confesses the actions of Goddess Rhongomyniad aren’t those of the Artoria he knew, declaring he swore allegiance to the latter, not the former. The group then fights him, but they retreat when Lancelot proves too strong. A giant illusion of Nitocris then manifests, distracting the knights enough for the group to escape. The knights give chase, only for both parties to run into a sphinx nest. After slaying the sphinxes, the group enters the Atlas Institute via a pitfall fall. There they meet Sherlock Holmes.[16]

Sherlock leads the group to the central area, while they destroy any activated defenses. At the center, the group finds a still functioning Tri-Hermes. Sherlock reveals the Heroic Spirit fused with Mash is Galahad. Bedivere agrees with Galahad’s decision to entrust his powers to Mash. Sherlock then uses Tri-Hermes’s remaining power to learn Rhongomyniad's true form is the Tower at the Ends of the World, while the lance is a terminal to access its Authority. Goddess Rhongomyniad plans to use it to create an ideal world by gathering virtuous souls. According to Tri-Hermes’ calculations, Rhongomyniad can hold 500 souls. It is Camelot’s true form, where the selected are sealed away. They’re gathered as ideal examples of humanity’s virtue, and they will be sealed forever once Camelot returns to its true form. Upon the Tower’s completion, the Ends of the Worlds will consume the era. With this information, the group rush back to the surface.[17]

Returning to the surface, the group is confronted by Lancelot and his knights. Bedivere asks him if he knows about Goddess Rhongomyniad’s true intentions. Lancelot attacks him and confesses he knew of Goddess Rhongomyniad’s intentions as she announced them after she summoned the Knights of the Round. He attacks Bedivere again, but Mash blocks it this time. Influenced by Galahad, she is enraged that Lancelot would serve Goddess Rhongomyniad despite knowing her actions are wrong. She defeats him in a duel, and he is convinced to join the group. Lancelot then escorts them for half a day to a secret refugee camp that serves as a shelter for those unselected.[18]

There the group finds Da Vinci alive, as Lancelot had protected her back then. After Mash relays what they learned in the Institute, Da Vinci realizes Goddess Rhongomyniad intends to create an isolated space for the purest of humanity to continue existing following the Incineration of Humanity. Lancelot reveals Artoria was already Goddess Rhongomyniad when she summoned the Knights of the Round. Romani reveals her intention to create a world without humans would disrupt human history, even if Chaldea restores humanity. Lancelot suggests convincing Ozymandias to help when the group recognizes their forces aren’t enough. Later, on Da Vinci’s request, Bedivere goes to contact the Saracens.[18]

Bedivere returns to the eastern mountain village and makes preparations with the Hassans for the final battle. Ritsuka's party soon returns as well after successfully gaining Ozymandias’s cooperation. Bedivere and the Hassans have been making preparations for the final battle. Serenity confirms they’ve gathered 17, 000 followers. Hundred Faces says there are 2,000 people in Camelot secretly supporting their rebellion. Later, Cursed Arm reviews their strategy. With discussions over, Ritsuka, Mash, and Bedivere prove their resolve to the Hassans through combat. Afterward, everyone takes time to rest.[19]

That night Mash finds Bedivere crying by himself. He tells her he was crying out of fear of his own actions. Questioning the morality of his decision and feeling he’s wrong, Bedivere admits he’s been terrified of meeting Goddess Rhongomyniad since coming to the Singularity. As a fellow Knight of the Round, he asks Mash if she has doubts. Mash confesses she fears facing Goddess Rhongomyniad also, but she wants to believe in the trust Galahad placed in her and Ritsuka. Bedivere admits he thought he and Mash were the same when he heard she was a Demi-Servant. He claims to have come to the Singularity to atone for an unforgivable crime he committed. He finds himself pitiful that he averted his attention away from others’ distress to focus on his mission and only joined the group to fulfill his mission. He fears his long journey will come to a meaningless end. Mash refutes that, believing Bedivere’s final salvation will be equal to the path he walked. After agreeing with her, Bedivere tells Mash that her Noble Phantasm’s true nature is to protect people, so she should focus on the people she wishes to protect, rather than repelling attacks. It is the path to the true Camelot that will never crumble.[19]

In the wastelands near Camelot, the group reviews their strategy once more when Romani reports the city is prepared for them. Lancelot orders the allied forces to advance when a sandstorm created by Hassan suddenly appears from the north to envelop Camelot. With the storm making both sides’ archers useless, the allied forces advance onto Camelot as fast as possible.[5]

Unfortunately, the allied forces are soon overwhelmed by Camelot's force as they struggle to break through to the city. Sanzang uses her Noble Phantasm at full power to destroy the front gate at the cost of her life. Her sacrifice allows the allied forces to advance.[5]

Ritsuka’s party enters Camelot and soon nears the castle when the Tower suddenly manifests around it. The Tower has been fully activated, and now the Ends of the World are encroaching onto Camelot. Mordred suddenly ambushes Bedivere. Bedivere calls her a disgrace for considering herself Artoria's heir, saying she lacks her sense of duty from before. He reminds her that Goddess Rhongomyniad will destroy the world and her men. But Mordred asserts the knights will gladly die to become the foundation of Goddess Rhongomyniad's utopia. She asks Bedivere how he could understand their feelings since he stayed with Artoria until her death.[5]

Mordred is defeated, but she refuses to die by someone who isn’t Artoria. Bedivere tells her she’ll never be able to serve Artoria wholeheartedly, even though she wanted to. He considers himself and Mordred weak because they failed to save and kill Artoria, respectively. Even though he considers both of them to be unworthy as knights, he believes she surpasses him because of her dream to serve Artoria despite being hated. He apologizes for ruining her dream and finishes her off.[5]

After Mordred disappears, the group witnesses Ozmanydias and Nitocris using Ramesseum Tentyris to destroy Rhongomyniad at the cost of their lives. Romani, however, reveals the era is still being destroyed, and only Rhongomyniad's sheath was destroyed. The group hurries to the castle when Lancelot arrives in the city. Lancelot reports their allies now control the front gate, with many of the enemy archers on the wall having surrendered. Instead of joining the group, Lancelot decides he’ll look for Agravain. The group takes a direct route into the castle, while Lancelot takes a back route. They are near the castle when Bedivere blocks a shot by Tristan from a rooftop. Bedivere tells him that the Tristan he knew disappeared in the burning eastern village. As one who served the King of Knights, he cannot allow himself to be defeated by a Knight of the Lion King. Tristan says the former Round Table never existed in the Singularity, as they think of nothing of destroying the era. The group then fights him until the Hassans arrive to fight him instead. The group uses this opportunity to advance into the castle.[5]

Inside, the group nears the throne when they’re confronted by Gawain. He confesses that Goddess Rhongomyniad told him he could do anything after she summoned the Knights of the Round. Believing Bedivere couldn’t understand his elation at that, Gawain calls it a coincidence that Bedivere was present for Artoria’s last moments. He decided to serve Goddess Rhongomyniad, as he blamed his focus on his personal grudges for Artoria’s death. He reveals the members of the Round Table who rejected Goddess Rhongomyniad's proposal were killed by those who accepted it. Gawain believes those who pledged loyalty to Goddess Rhongomyniad were branded as sinners, but he is grateful to serve her nonetheless. Calling himself a knight who serves the Lion King, he challenges Bedivere. Bedivere accepts, calling his right arm the end of his loyalty and proof of his sin he couldn’t erase. For the sake of truly saving the one who walked alone, he fights Gawain.[5]

After being defeated, Gawain calls it his fate as an unfaithful knight. Bedivere, however, refutes there is no knight more loyal than him. He finds he and Gawain are the same as they admired what it meant to be the king instead of the concept of honor. Gawain asks him why he only appears now at the end, believing Goddess Rhongomyniad may have regained her heart if he had come sooner. He then disappears, saying he wholeheartedly resents Bedivere. The group then advance onto the throne room.[5]

In the throne room, Goddess Rhongomyniad decides to destroy the group, considering their soul unnecessary for her utopia. She then fights the group, her Authority bearing down on them and her magical energy destroying pieces of SHEBA. She declares humanity will be granted eternity inside her lance as the ultimate conclusion of protecting it. Mash however rejects her ideal and challenges her to combat. In response, Goddess Rhongomyniad launches Rhongomyniad, but Mash blocks it with her true Noble Phantasm, Lord Camelot.[5]

As she continues to block it, Bedivere tells Mash that her shield will never falter as long as her resolve is true. Goddess Rhongomyniad cannot recognize Bedivere and struggles to remember after recognizing the light from Airgetlám. Bedivere thanks Ritsuka for helping him get this way and their kindness. He then apologizes for keeping the truth about Goddess Rhongomyniad to himself this whole time. The others notice his body is breaking down and that he is only a regular human. Bedivere apologizes for the deception and reveals Airgetlám is Excalibur in disguise. Goddess Rhongomyiad remembers his name upon hearing this. Bedivere reveals he is the one responsible for Artoria’s transformation. Despite having no memories of him, Goddess Rhongomyniad orders him to throw Excalibur away and return to her. Bedivere rejects the order, calling himself an enemy she must strike down. Declaring he has to stop her as one who served the King of Knights, he and the others fight her.[5]

Goddess Rhongomyniad is shocked that a mere human like Bedivere is pushing her back, even as his body breaks down. She asks him why he is doing this, to which he replies it’s because he remembers her smile. Bedivere thanks her on behalf of the Knights of the Round for saving Britain, despite being isolated from the others. Calling her his shining star, he then returns Excalibur to her, despite her pleas for him not to use it. With Excalibur returned to her, Goddess Rhongomyniad remembers Bedivere, and thanks him for being her last and loyal knight. Bedivere then disappears with his task now complete.[5]

When Ritsuka, Mash, and Da Vinci return to Chaldea, they find that Bedivere has been registered as a Spirit Origin within their database despite his soul burning out. They speculate that the right to become a Heroic Spirit may have been granted to him in recognition of his deeds in the Singularity.

Final Singularity: Solomon[]

Bedivere appears alongside the Lion Helmed Knight to assist Chaldea against the Demon Gods of the Gazing Star.[20]

Abilities[]

In the Round Table where heroes surpassing humans gathered, he served King Arthur as the "only normal human" among them. Despite being one-armed, he has been regarded as a knight possessing excellent sword skills and an outstanding general.[1] During the Camelot Singularity, he is able to fight and defeats Knights such as Mordred and Gawain thanks to his Divine Construct, and the modifications made by Merlin allow him to fight on par with the other Knights of the Round Table.[1]

The Parameters listed on Bedivere's status sheet is how his stats look after he activates Switch On - Airgetlám, and his actual stats when it is deactivated are much lower.[21] Fate/Grand Order THE MOVIE - Divine Realm of the Round Table: Camelot reveals his Paramaters without Airgetlám.

During the Camelot singularity, many servants comment on his ability. Mordred calls him a "third-rate Knight" in terms of prowess, while Agravain says he "lacks strength". Gawain and Mordred both consider him not worth mentioning to Agravain or the King, as he is no threat, although Tristan, with his keener observation, notes that "this Bedivere" might actually be a threat due to Airgetlám. Mash also says he is "not strong like Gawain", which Bedivere admits. However, contrary to this, he fights several times without Airgetlám, which has limited uses during the singularity. He is able to fight off several monsters, display skill enough for Cursed-Arm Hassan to consider him a "high ranking Knight of the Round Table" (Which he denies), and then shows commendable skill again in defeating Cursed-Arm and Arash with Mash's aid.[10] Against Mordred, Mash says that he is "holding her back", when he has not yet activated Airgetlám, though Mordred believes this is simply because she is not fighting seriously.[12]

Bedivere vs Gawain

Bedivere fighting Gawain.

However, once Airgetlám is active, Bedivere displays power to rival the other Round Table Knights. He is able to actively push Mordred back, who remarks that she is losing even with her gift, before she takes off her helmet which rejects said gift.[12] Airgetlám is at least as powerful as a sun-powered Galatine, deflecting it completely.[9] Against Tristan, Bedivere quickly gets overwhelmed despite the arm,[15] but when they fight inside the Holy City, Tristan claims it was because Bedivere "lacked the correct mindset" before, and says their powers are fundamentally at a stalemate.[5] Airgetlám is also able to completely destroy a Sphinx, which are considered divine-class beasts that are nigh-unkillable.[7] During the battle in the Holy City, Bedivere and Mash overwhelm and defeat Mordred despite her Gift, causing her to lament that she was defeated "by a traitor" as Bedivere calmly deals the finishing blow.[5] Gawain later challenges him to a duel inside the Castle, and Bedivere is able to emerge triumphant once again. His determination and the power of his arm is great enough to temporarily push back the Lion King, much to her shock.[5]

As a servant, Bedivere no longer has limitations on using Airgetlám for it no longer eats into his soul. He keeps it active at all times during combat, and displays devastating power with it, including the ability to fire off beams similar to Excalibur, and create craters in the ground with a single hit. He also boasts that his power is Nuadha's power, and he can show the Master power befitting of that name during his final ascension dialogue.

In order to stop the Lion King in the Camelot Singularity and atone for his sins, Merlin modified Excalibur into a prosthetic arm known as Switch On - Airgetlám.[1] This Noble Phantasm is constantly active-type, and even though his output is usually that of an average human, when performing activation for combat, the STR, CON, and AGI parameter rises to the ones shown in his status, gaining a bonus for his sword attack.[21] Thanks to this Divine Construct, Bedivere can fight against the other Knights of the Round Table.[1]

Development[]

Takashi Takeuchi is the character designer for Bedivere's original design in Fate/stay night, while Tenkuu Sphere redesigned him for Fate/Grand Order.[1] Takeuchi originally designed Bedivere as being intentionally plain, but with Tenkuu's redesign he feels that some new meaning in the details like his hairstyle came about.[22]

Comment from Illustrator[]

"The base is the visual that came out last in Fate/stay night's Saber route. The ribbon tie and the coattail was added and arranged from the image of a butler. The cloth on his right shoulder was attached originally for hiding his lost arm, as he doesnt have a silver arm in the beginning. But i was happy that it was used nicely in the CM and Stage version all fluttering!"[21] (Tenkuu Sphere)

Notes[]

  1. There is no known Parameter Rank corresponding to the letter "F", so it is unknown if this is an animation error or simply unexplained.

    Profile
One of the Knights of the Round Table from Arthurian legends.
The first member of the Knights of the Round Table, he served as the steward of the royal court, the king's care-taker.
The individual who was present at the king's final moments.

    Level 1 Bond
    Height/Weight: 187cm・88kg
    Source: Arthurian Legends
    Region: England
    Alignment: Lawful Good Gender: Male
Over 10kg of his weight corresponds to the "silver arm".

    Level 2 Bond
In the Round Table where heroes surpassing humans gathered, he served King Arthur as the "only normal human" among them. Despite being one-armed, he has being regarded as a knight possessing excellent sword skills and, at the same time, an outstanding general.
However, he is not a Heroic Spirit. Merely a human from the past.

    Level 3 Bond
In this work, this Bedivere lived as an "if that did not returned King Arthur's holy sword", and King Arthur died without ascertaining the relinquishing of the holy sword. As atonement, he kept on living during a long time for the sake of "returning the holy sword this time for sure", and eventually ran out of strength at Avalon.

    Level 4 Bond
Then, during the anthropic principle incineration and the holy city dominion by the Lion King seen this time, he once again stood up. Merlin gave him - a mere knight - the power to fight against the other Knights of the Round Table, but it was something that would shave off his life in the end. Still, said power was by no means inferior to that of the Knights of the Round Table.
In other words--- the holy sword that he failed to return.

    Level 5 Bond
"Take Up A Sword, Silver-Colored Arm"
    Rank: C Type: Anti-Unit
    Switch On・Airgetlam.
While it has the same name as the Divine Construct employed by the Celtic war god, its true identity is that of "the holy sword Excalibur that he failed to return".
A constantly active-type of Noble Phantasm. By releasing the True Name with the words "Flash, Silver-Colored Arm (Dead End・Airgetlam)", a anti-army extermination attack is performed.

    Sir Bedivere [Person's name].
The knight who tended the final moments of King Arthur.
He was the last remaining knight who returned the holy sword back to the lake according to the King's orders.
Lancelot, Percival, Galahad were some of the popular knights of King Arthur's who embarked on the quest for the Holy Grail, but they were actually junior knights who joined later for the quest.
The earliest and most famous knights who swore allegiance to King Arthur included Ser Kay, Ser Gawain, and Ser Bedivere. They had histories even older than King Arthur's.
Ser Bedivere's name was thought to be derived from the ancient War God of the Celts, Bedwyr.
By the way, Ser Bedivere was not aware that Artoria was a girl.
