RamaWP (ラーマWP, Rāma?), Class Name Saber (セイバー, Seibā?), is a Saber-class Servant summoned by Ritsuka Fujimaru in the Grand Orders of Fate/Grand Order.

Profile[]

Identity[]

The protagonist of the "RamayanaWP", one of the two major epic poems from India.[1][2]

Granting the appeals of the gods, Vishnu reincarnated as Rama, born as the imperial prince of a certain countryWP, an ordinary human that had forgotten about everything.[1][2]

Such is Rama.[1]

Legend[]

Rama was naturally wise, but he ended up being deprived from his succession rights to the throne and was expelled from his country due to a scheme of a relativeWP.[1][2]

Having his beloved, queen Sita, who was travelling together with him, snatched away by the hands of Demon King RavanaWP, Rama boldly resolved himself to fight.[1] Ravana, who could enslave even the gods due to a power he acquired by deceiving a great godWP, was a Demon King famed for the fact that only humans had the qualifications to defeat him.[1][2]

Borrowing and receiving powers from the gods and the sages, Rama tried to take back Sita, the queen he loves, from the hands of Demon King Ravana.[2] Together with an army of monkeys that included the famous HanumanWP, Rama, who was bestowed with many weapons by a sageWP, continued to fight against Demon King Ravana and his army for over 14 years.[1]

But even someone unique such as Rama had committed a fatal blunder. Intervening into a fight between fellow monkeys to rescue his ally monkey, SugrivaWP, he performed a cowardly sneak attack on the enemy monkey, ValiWP. Unable to forgive that, Vali's wifeWP placed a curse upon Rama.[1][2]

« Even if you were able to take back your queen, you will never share joy together with her again. »

(Vali's wife as she placed a curse upon Rama)

That curse still continues on even after having rescued Sita and defeating Ravana. Rama, who is the reincarnation of the god Vishnu, will continue to pass by the queen he loves, Sita, for his entire lifetime. On the day the two can cuddle close together is when they must take back their original forms and ascend to the heavens.[2]

But on the other hand, that meant eternal separation from Sita until then. Even while recapturing her from the hands of Ravana, Sita left Rama's side during that situation as the nation's people voiced suspicions about her being unfaithful to him.[2]

Even after death and becoming a Heroic Spirit, the effects of the curse that keeps binding him, even now, has not grown dim. And that curse will continue on so long the two continue to love one another. One could say that such curse is, at the same time, a proof of their love.[1]

Appearance[]

The reason why Rama is summoned as a young boy is because, just like it was alluded to in the main scenario, the period when he fought in search of Sita is indeed in his golden age.[1]

A warrior in his younger years. Rama's eyes are crimson red and match the color of his hair for the most part, as it is blonde-white at the top section. It has bangs that fall over his face, parted between his eyes, and possesses a tall strand curved upwards at the very top (ahoge), while a long ponytail extends at the end of it, reaching past his waist. In addition, he wears a pair of earrings.

Rama is seen always carrying his Noble Phantasm, Brahmastra, his hands.

His clothes consist of a sleeveless top, exposing his shoulders, divided into three sections. The left and right ones' alignment and the decorative fashion of the top one make it resemble more feminine clothing. The top section connects to a tall collar around his neck. Rama also wears disconnected sleeves that go all the way down to his hands. They are black, with orange rings of metal at the start and ending on metallic-looking golden gloves with sharp ends for the fingers and orange pieces protecting the forearms. His stomach is protected by a golden sash-like piece of armour with an ornament on the front. Said piece holds two large pieces of cloth on either side, white and whittish-red sashes, the left one having an unknown object attached to it. Finally, he wears black trousers on his lower half that seemingly link with the boots of the same color. The trousers have red strips as a pattern, more prominent on the right leg compared to the left. The boots are adorned with a silver line by the centre of each one.

In his 2nd Ascension, Rama's sashes are replaced by a silky piece of cloth open on the front, golden mixed with white and adorned with a pattern of symbols. In addition, both the left and right section of his top gained two strips of cloth resembling his new 'cape' in both material and color. His sleeves gained pieces of orange armour for the upper arm that extend outwards.

In his 3rd Ascension, his hair is freed from the ponytail, revealing its true length and volume. The left and right sections of his top, the pieces of armour of his fore and upperarms, trousers and boots change to white. His 'cape' turns into a black mixed with red.

Personality[]

Although he has somewhat an arrogant section for his personality, fundamentally, Rama is a young boy who keeps up his efforts everyday and is probably a splendid being as a “great king”.[2] Although Rama is gentle to his subordinates and animals, doing things such as curing squirrels with healing spells and helping others in creating a bridge, his attitude becomes quite obstinate towards Servants that are widely-known tyrants.[1][2] He hates evil, but he is aware of how dangerous such a line of thought can be. Even so, he thinks that people should still sing of justice.[3]

In regards to the Master, Rama will consider them as "a person who linked up as comrades-in-arms", but he will also fundamentally take a somewhat haughty behavior towards him or her.[1][2] Due to that, he might give off the impression of an impertinent brat. Even though he is like your average elder in terms of knowledge, his mentality simply does not catch up with it. Such peculiar circumstances as a Servant are probably making him have such an attitude.[1] Naturally with this attitude, he will not allow himself, a king, to be treated as someone of a lower rank even if he recognizes himself as a Servant and his partner as the Master, for he believes that is not how the way the world works, but he will put his trust in his Master as a brethren to the very end.[2][3]

Rama's wish for the Holy Grail is for the "undoing of the Curse of Separation with his wife Sita" and "a reunion with Sita", but up to the present time, that wish has not yet been granted.[1][2] He wants to see Sita. He wants to meet and talk to her. Just that is good enough for him.[3]

Rama is primarily not a Saber, and it would be better to summon him as an Archer. As far as he is concerned, Brahmastra is an arrow that eliminates all things demonic. However, an exemplary anecdote concerning Sita is her bow and arrows (her Noble Phantasm is Haradhanu Janaka). Considering the likelihood that she would be summoned, Sita would be unable to get the role of Saber, so Rama takes that Class instead so that Sita can get the Class of Archer.[2]

… But then, since the Saber Class is famed to be the most superior of all the Classes, it may not be known that it was inevitable for Rama to choose this Class because as a young boy, he would try to put on a show for Sita.[2]

Rama likes anything that he enjoys, such as dance, music, martial arts and meditation, while he is weary of depravity. However, the one thing that he abhor the most is himself for the time when he suspected his beloved wife of infidelity. Sometimes, he would like nothing more than to wring his own neck for that judgement.[3]

Back in his lifetime, Rama once saw war as a source of pleasure, where swinging swords and loosing arrows were mere amusement to him. But only when Sita was abducted by Ravana that the youth finally came to know the terrors of war. While he did not fear death or harm, he recognized that if he were to die, then he would lose his friends, his younger brother, and his beloved Sita. From the bottom of his heart, he was deeply afraid of throwing away the lives of his brother and his subjects. War was frightening, but Rama did not shrink from battle, nor did he flee. He would wound, he would kill, he would be hurt, and he might even be killed. He accepted all of this, and challenged the Demon King. Swallowing one's fear, stepping into the fray, and crying out the name of your love; he believes that is the essence which makes a hero.[4]

Relationships[]

Sita
Rama dreams of that one day where he meets with her.[2]
Karna
"So he's the Hero of Charity? Interesting, his gaze pierces like an arrow. Master! Allow to me compete with him in archery!"[5]
Rama notes his gaze that seems to pierce through anything. He wants to compete with Karna in archery.[3]
"Karna. If it wasn't for your efforts, I hear that Master and the rest of us would have been annihilated. And obviously, I'm not talking about you specifically...but I still need to express my gratitude. That is proper courtesy as king."[5]
Arjuna
"I see, so that's the blessed hero Arjuna. However, to share a wife...Even if we are countrymen, that's hard to overlook."[5]
"Also, it is said that for a short time, you were sharing your wifeWP. Moreover, the reason for that is sort of comedic..."[2] Rama finds Arjuna sharing a wife something hard to overlook, even if they are countrymen.[3]
"Ah, Arjuna! It appears the version of you from the Lostbelt wreaked some havoc! Hahaha, you're better off fighting as a human. But since you're here, let's go get some bananas with Master. Follow me!"[5]
Arjuna Alter
"Is that...Arjuna...? Hey Master. What the heck do you have to do to become something like that!? That being's more than a hero...he's more like a god! Fighting that would be reckless as best!"[5]
Ganesha
"The Great Ganesha... No...something feels a bit off... An elephant...or not? I have absolutely no clue!"[5]
Parvati
"Parvati-sama? I see... So that's what you've been through. I am sure inhibiting a human's body can be very inconvenient. Please do not hesitate to let me know if I can be of any assistance!"[5]
Florence Nightingale
"I'm fine! I'm healed! My wounds are perfectly healed! So because it's good now, put that bag away!"[2]

Fifth Singularity: E Pluribus Unum[]

Rama is summoned into the Singularity along with his wife, Sita. Normally they couldn't be summoned simultaneously, as a result of the curse on Rama that keeps them forever separate, but the Singularity is an exception.[6] While searching for his wife, Rama fights Cú Chulainn Alter. Struggling against him, Rama says the former can't be corrupted if he transcended good and evil by obtaining strength through sheer will and determination alone. Cú Chulainn Alter refutes he is like this because he transcended good and evil, saying he only kills his enemies as per the sole law of the battlefield. Rama points out how Cú Chulainn Alter brutally slaughtered the weak. Cú Chulainn Alter criticizes Rama for sparing the weak, yet he’ll kill the strong. Rama launches Brahmastra at full power. But it is ineffective, and Rama is struck by Gáe Bolg. To Cú Chulainn Alter’s surprise, Rama is still alive and standing despite having 80% of his heart destroyed. Geronimo and his resistance then rescue Rama.[7][8]

The Resistance brings Rama to their hideout in Deming, and he joins them. Geronimo later asks Florence Nightingale to heal Rama when he brings Ritsuka's party to Deming. Rama introduces himself and tells the others about how Cú Chulainn Alter caused his injury. Romani Archaman says Rama reversed his state of death through sheer willpower, as him being alive is an “error” in the proper flow of cause and effect. The only way to save him is to destroy Gáe Bolg, but fighting Cú Chulainn Alter is near suicidal. The group agrees to find a Servant related to Rama to remove the curse. Rama suggests Sita, who is imprisoned somewhere. Nightingale then carries him off to prepare a special belt. The group later leaves to recruit Servants to help them assassinate Thomas Edison and Medb.[9]

They soon comes across enemy scouts, whom Nightingale charges despite carrying Rama. Mash tells her they planned to surrounding them, and Rama tells her not fight with him on her back. Nightingale merely replies healing her patients is her only priority.

The group soon comes to Lubbock, where Robin Hood and Billy the Kid (both Resistance members) are being besieged by Celts. Like before, Nightingale rushes in ahead of the others. After the attack is repelled, Mash gives Robin and Billy the details of their plan. Geronimo suggests they need a Saber and a Lancer to help. Robin confesses he met two problematic Servants who fit the aforementioned classes earlier.[10]

The group arrives at Dallas, where one of the Servants Robin met is located. After defeating some unexpectedly weak Celtic soldiers, they hear a disturbing song that Ritsuka, Mash, and Robin recognize. Entering the town, they meet with Elizabeth Báthory as she continues her singing. They deduce that is why the soldiers were so weak. Mash convinces Elizabeth to join them by saying it will help promote her art.[11]

Passing through a forest to Alexandria, the group witness Nero Claudius being confronted by Fergus mac Róich, who was sent to kill her. Robin uses No Face May King to ambush him when Nero reveals his presence. The others then arrive to defeat Fergus. Before disappearing, Fergus tells Rama that Sita is being held on Alcatraz Island.[12]

That evening, Nightingale warns Rama that the curse is spreading faster. Unable to promise she can keep him alive past a few days, she prepares to inject him with a double dose of painkillers to help him rest. Rama asks not to be rendered unconscious, so Nightingale gives him a normal dose. She reprimands him for saying his suffering in his punishment for losing against Cú Chulainn and for those sacrificed to save him. Those who sacrificed themselves to save him wouldn’t enjoy his suffering, instead they would pray for his safety and good health. Nightingale tells him to recover and fight to honor those who saved him.[13]

Later at night, Geronimo informs the others that the Celtic stronghold is the White House. He then assigns the group into two separate teams; One with Nightingale to rescue Sita and another to infiltrate the White House and assassinate Medb. Mash gives Geronimo a communication. The next morning, the group split into their respective teams to carry out their missions.[13]

Ritsuka’s party arrives at the coast near Alcatraz and takes a boat to the island. Coming ashore, they head for the prison while slaying wyverns sent by Beowulf. Rama vows to Nightingale to recover, refusing to die until his wish is fulfilled. The group soon arrives at the prison, where they confront Beowulf. He refuses to release Sita, so the group fight him and his dragons. During the fight, Rama convinces Nightingale to let him fight. After he’s defeated, Beowulf allows the group to pass to enter the prison.[6]

Inside, the group meets Sita as Rama faints from his wound. Sita sacrifices herself by taking the curse into herself to dispel it. After Rama wakes up, Nightingale confirms his deduction that his wife sacrificed herself for him. He thanks Nightingale for saying he’s alive because of Sita’s love, calling it his salvation. With Rama fully recovered, the group leave to rendezvous with Geronimo’s group.[6]

They escape the prison when they’re confronted by Fionn and Diarmuid. After killing the pair, they receive a transmission from Robin. He informs them that the assassination plan failed. He tells them to meet with him at the abandoned United Western States base he is heading for. Receiving his coordinates, the group leave to meet with him.[14]

The group eventually locates Robin to see him under attack by Celts. After they help him, Robin tells them of the failed assassination of Medb. He was saved from Arjuna and Cú Chulainn Alter’s pursuit by Scáthach. Though she refuses to join the group, she offers her help all the same. Then, while fighting more Celts, the group comes across Li Shuwen. He fights Mash to a standstill to test the group’s strength and convince Scáthach to duel him. He refuses to join the group, but he’s still an ally. He then leaves, saying Edison seems to be possessed. The group then depart for Denver to confront Edison.[15]

Traveling back west, the group arrives at Kearney while it's being attacked by Celts. They capture a few of them at Robin’s behest. Ritsuka and Robin take the prisoners to a mechanized infantry robot. Robin pretends to be a military officer transferring prisoners to headquarters. As the prisoners are Celts, the robot allows him to pass. As the prisoners are Celts, the robot allows him to pass. The group then proceeds to Edison’s castle.[16]

The group breakthrough the robot guard and enter the castle. They fight Karna until Edison calls him back to the throne room. There the group defeats Edison, along with Helena Blavatsky and Karna. Edison refuses to give up and tries to drink an elixir to transform himself, but Karna throws it on the floor. Nightingale informs him the Celtic army is infinite while his is limited. It is then revealed that Edison’s tyranny resulted from his mind being affected by accumulated thoughts of the presidents entrusting him with America’s future. Everyone eventually convinces Edison to join the group.[17]

Later, the group strategizes on how to defeat the Celts. The Celts will be invading Denver via the northern and southern routes. If they conquer any more of America, the era will no longer withstand its separation from reality and collapse. The group decides with a two-prong attack with two armies to attack along the northern and southern routes. One to hold off the Celts, and another to breakthrough to the White House. The group leave the decision of what Servants will go with what army to Ritsuka.[18]

The next day, Ritsuka announces their decision. The north army then departs to await the battle three days from now at dusk. After testing Ritsuka and Mash’s resolve, Scáthach orders Rama to lead the south army since she isn’t joining the battle. Instead, she will monitor Medb and Cú Chulainn Alter, who she’ll stop from entering the frontlines. After she leaves, the south army starts their advance toward Washington.[18]

As the south army arrives in Montgomery, Mash relays a message from Karna that his vanguard defeated an enemy vanguard, yet a few broke through.[19] After defeating the stragglers, the south army continue their advance when a scout reports the Celtic army ahead is led by Arjuna. Rama orders him to tell all troops not to engage with Arjuna. The south army and Celtic army clash while Karna and Arjuna fight.[20] Eventually the south army defeat the Celtic army, while Karna and Arjuna’s battle continues. However, Karna is struck from behind by Cú Chulainn Alter. He reveals he killed Scáthach, and fights the group. He prepares to kill Mash when Merlin, projecting himself through Fou, traps him in an illusion. Karna takes advantage of that to launch Vasavi Shakti at Cú Chulainn Alter with the last of his strength. However, it wasn't strong enough to kill Cú Chulainn Alter, and Karna disappears. Cú Chulainn Alter then retreats to Washington to heal his wounds. The group tries to chase after him when Arjuna stops them to fight them. After being him, Arjuna leaves, declining Mash's invitation. The south army then continue their advance.[21]

As the group near Washington, Rama expresses he loves everyone who fought alongside him. He loves Sita from the bottom of his heart, as she gave her life for his. Love wants him to protect and not submit to fear. He believes a hero starts their journey from those feelings; something he came to understand when he returned to his youth.[22]

Reaching Washington, the group slay Medb’s summoned monsters and chase after her when she retreats to the White House. Inside, Rama vows to slay Medb in name of Sita and his devoted god. The group then fights her and Cú Chulainn Alter. Though mortally wounded by Brahmastra, Medb uses the Grail to summon Clan Calatin to attack the north army. She then gives the Grail to Cú Chulainn Alter before disappearing. Cú Chulainn Alter’s Magical Energy weakens due to the self-correction of the era strengthening with Medb now gone. The group then fights Cú Chulainn Alter.[23]

As Clan Calatin is destroyed, the group has defeated Cú Chulainn Alter. However, he uses the Grail to incarnate himself into Halphas. Nightingale uses Nightingale Pledge to heal the group. They then defeat Halphas, and Mash retrieves the Grail. In response to Mash’s grief at the sacrifices made, Rama reminds her Servants are summoned to fight and destined to fight for salvation. Some might regret not being able to never finish the fight, but they never fled. Rama, therefore, asks Mash to see them off with a smile. After Nightingale disappears, Rama admits his wish hasn’t been fulfilled yet. He is proud, though, of what he accomplished, such as rescuing Sita. But he is most proud of meeting Ritsuka, comparing the bond as precious as Sita and his younger brother, Lakshmana. Becoming Ritsuka’s Servant would bring him the greatest joy possible. Rama then disappears, hoping to meet Ritsuka and Mash again.[24]

Final Singularity: Solomon[]

Rama is amongst the "E Pluribus Unum" Singularity Servants assisting Chaldea against the Demon Gods Pillars.[25]

Yuga Kshetra: Samsara of Genesis and Terminus[]

Rama and Karna are summoned together by Ritsuka with the Spirit Origin briefcase. Neither of them recognizes the topography and feels the air exhibits a feeling of loneliness. Sherlock Holmes asks them about the Cube that Chaldea observed. Rama answers he’s never seen nor heard of it, not even during his travels to foreign countries searching for Sita. While investigating, Rama, Nezha, and Karna notice they’re not at full strength after slaying a pack of wild beasts.[26]

Ritsuka’s party arrives at Bichu, where they meet Asha and her dog, Vihan. Her father, Ajay, brings her and Vihan into their home when the Kali attacks the town. As the group slays the Kali, white creatures arrive and target the Kali before turning their attention towards the group. After slaying the creatures, the group is banished by the town elder, Prakash, for slaying the Holy Beasts and the Kali, calling them God’s messengers.[26]

In the nearby plains, Ritsuka's party search for a place to camp when they noticed Asha has followed them to thank them. They learn epics like Mahabharata don’t exist in the Lostbelt when Asha doesn’t recognize either Rama or Karna’s names. Asha then suggests the group camp in a cave she plays in and offers to guide them. She refers to the Cube as God’s Skyboulder, believing God created it. The townsfolk dare not approach its location due to the Kali. Asha reveals the Kali appear more frequently when the Kali Yuga approaches, which is tomorrow. After the Kali Yuga, everyone will be killed by God, but those loved by him will be resurrected for the new Yuga.[26]

After camp is set up, Asha explains the Lostbelt's Yuga Cycle and how those killed by the Kali aren't reincarnated. She then recalls a self-proclaimed god came to her town a few days ago before heading to the mountains. The group decides to investigate, suspecting the self-proclaimed god is a Stray Servant. Karna then ensures Asha returns home safe. After Karna returns, Rama hopes the self-proclaimed god is Sita, especially since she is Lakshmi's avatar. Karna tells him not to get his hopes up since the god could easily be of another pantheon.[26]

Ritsuka's party searches the mountains with Nezha searching from the air. Ritsuka, Mash, Rama, and Karna soon meet Scandinavia Peperoncino when Nezha suddenly crashes before the group and disappears. Her killer, another Nezha, then arrives and attacks the group. However, despite overwhelming them, she leaves upon spotting Peperoncino. The group eventually finds a talking elephant god statue that attacks them. Karna breaks the statue to reveal Ganesha inside. She refuses to help the group and goes back into the statue. Ritsuka’s party removes her from the statue by force. Afterward, Ganesha confirms she came to Bichu five days ago and agrees to help.[27]

The next morning, the group travel back to Bichu. However, they notice the environment has become completely desolate within a single day. They eventually return to Bichu to find it completely destroyed. They try to protect the survivors from an increasing number of Kali when Ashwatthama suddenly appears. As he fights the group, the other Nezha, William Tell, and Asclepius arrive.[28] God Arjuna then arrives, riding on Vimana. He calls Chaldea and their allies failures and begins gathering energy for Mahāpralaya. Rama throws Brahmastra at him, only for it to bounce off harmlessly. Rama and Karna prepare to fight God Arjuna when Peperoncino arrives and advises against it, calling God Arjuna an amalgamation of the Hindu gods. Peperoncino tries to help the group escape when they’re confronted by Ashwatthama, Peperoncino’s former Servant and now a Lokapala of God Arjuna. Karna eventually hits him with Vasavi Shakti in the ensuing fight, and the group escapes without finishing him off. Peperoncino warns them that God Arjuna has been preparing to reset the Lostbelt. They reach the Border when God Arjuna initiates the restart. Karna exits and uses Kavacha and Kundala to protect the Border from God Arjuna’s Mahāpralaya. The Border then dives into the Imaginary Number Space.[29]

Peperoncino explains the circumstances of how Arjuna became his current self. He admits he spent a few months trying to control him, but God Arjuna changed after Ashiya Douman spoke with him. God Arjuna then stole Peperoncino’s contract with Ashwatthama and summoned other Servants. After the Border resurfaces, Ritsuka, Mash, Rama, Ganesha, and Peperoncino exit to investigate.[30] They notice the environment is now beautiful and gentle before proceeding to Bichu.[31]

The town looks relatively pristine, and some are kinder because the current Yuga is the Krita Yuga, the Yuga of Happiness. The group meets Ajay and Asha, but she doesn't remember Vihan. Afterwards, they leave town to discuss the distorted Yuga cycle.[31]

Peperonico reveals God Arjuna removes what he deems as failures and unnecessary between each cycle in pursuit of a perfect world without evil. Rama realizes that Sita may be one of the divinities Arjuna absorbed since she is Lakshmi's avatar. Thus saving Sita becomes Rama's main motivator for defeating God Arjuna. Later, the group learns of a village rebelling against God Arjuna, and fighting against the Kali.[31]

The next day, the group reaches Dewar, which they suspect to be home to the Resistance. They try to enter when the Resistance leader, Lakshmibai, suspects them of being Lokapala. She fights them when Holy Beasts suddenly attack. Seeing them slay the Holy Beasts, Lakshmibai realizes the group isn’t Lokapala. Upon learning she possesses Lakshmi, Rama gets uncomfortably close to Lakshmibai to see if he can feel Sita’s presence. Lakshmibai grips his head with crushing force in response as Rama realizes he cannot feel Sita’s presence. Despite the risk of being deemed flawed, Lakshmibai joins the group. She then leads them to the Cube’s location.[32]

Along the way, Lakshmibai reveals the Cube was already there when she was summoned. Pepperoncino considered removing it if it was detrimental. The group soon reaches the Cube, but the abnormal number of Kali there forces them to retreat.[33]

Later, Dewar is attacked by Nezha. As the group fights her, it is deduced God Arjuna grants divinities to his Lokapala, with Nezha’s being Kubera. Nezha eventually decides to overload herself by rapidly using her Noble Phantasms because she couldn't stand having Kubera (who's considered the same as her father) exist inside her any longer. She then explains which territories each Lokapala (except Ashwatthama) is charged with. After Nezha disappears, Rama feels a bit stronger from when he first materialized now that Kubera’s divinity has dispersed with Nezha gone. It is therefore deduced that freeing the divinities from the Lokapala will restore Ritsuka's Servants to their original strength and reduce God Arjuna’s power. The group agrees to target Asclepius first. Lakshmibai recalls a town in the southwest that she suspects Asclepius will appear at.[34]

The group arrive at a village, where a doctor came and stopped an epidemic from spreading. They suspect it’s Asclepius when he appears and denies it. Rama accuses him of spreading the disease that plagued the town after Asclepius expressed disappointment that he couldn't study it. Asclepius denies the accusation and soon summons the undead, revealing he was granted Yama's divinity. The group fights the undead, but they’re constantly restored. Suddenly, God Arjuna appears and defeats the group. He then leaves, and Asclepius prepares to finish them off. However, Daybit Sem Void suddenly appears with the Grand Servant he's contracted with. After Daybit's Servant destroys Asclepius' undead, the group recovers and force Asclepius to retreat. They then leave the village out of concern they’ll be considered outcasts after God Arjuna defeated them.[35]

On their way back to Dewar, the group learn from Peperonciono that God Arjuna’s power will decrease if people stop revering him as a god. They also realize Lakshmibai’s Resistance could be used as a starting point for this goal. Peperoncino suggests they incite rebellion in the other villages. Unfortunately, the group reaches Dewar to find it besieged by Holy Beasts. After killing them, they move the survivors to Bichu.[36]

The next morning, Bichu’s citizens and Dewar’s survivors argue about the latter slaying Holy Beasts. The town is then attacked by the Kali, which the group fight joined by the survivors and later the Bichu citizens.. William snipes the Kali from far outside the village, but the Holy Beasts continue attacking. Suddenly he changes his target to Ritsuka, but Mash blocks his shots. Captain deduces William was granted VayuWP’s divinity to have such incredible range. The group enters a horse carriage, with Lakshmibai serving as driver. Though shot several times, she get the others to William.[36]

After forcing him to retreat, the group return to Bichu. Lakshmibai agrees to teach Bichu's citzens on how to fight.[36] The Kali Yuga eventually begins, and the group prepares to leave Bichu with the villagers now trained in combat. But they’re forced to fight a large Kali that’s amalgamation of other Kalis instead. While they’re fighting, holy beasts and Asclepius arrive. Asclepius uses his newly granted Varuna divinity to strengthen the holy beasts. The group defeat him and the holy beasts when Asclepius notices his body breaking down. Peperoncino suspects God Arjuna gave him another divinity, knowing he’d self-destruct. Rama kills Asclepius. William then arrives, forcing the group into another fight. They struggle against him thanks to him using Vayu’s power to change his arrows’ trajectory. As the fight continues, Asha picks up a crossbow and aims it toward William. William aims his crossbow but notices himself unable to fire. Ganesha tries to get him to remember his son, but God Arjuna erased those memories.[37]

As William struggles mentally, Rama deals a fatal blow. He tries to finish him off when Ashwatthama arrives.[37] William gets up and shoots Ashwatthama as he remembers he was made to forget something. The group uses this opportunity to retreat. Ashwatthama chases after them when he suddenly collapses from William’s arrows. God Arjuna then arrives and begins preparing Mahāpralaya. The group run towards the Border to dive into the Imaginary Number Space. The Border crew pick up Koyanskaya after noticing her trying to hitchhike.[38]

After the Yuga cycle resets, the group head for Bichu. There, they discover Ajay and the people of Dewar were erased. Lakshmibai confesses the goddess inside her is actually Alakshmi. Rama realizes that is why he couldn’t sense Sita inside her. He tells Lakshmibai not to blame herself for what happen just because she has the goddess of misfortune's power. He convinces her to continue helping by saying not her luck, but their skill and responsibility alone will determine the outcome of their fight. Afterwards, he tells the others he felt something was fundamentally wrong with Ashwatthama compared to the other Lokapala. Rama asks the others to let him handle Ashwatthama so he can see if suspicions are correct. Vitch then gives the group Ashwatthama’s location.[38]

By the first day of the second Yuga, the group finds Ashwatthama in the mountains. Before they fight, Rama asks Ashwatthama to tell his story. But Ashwatthama's angered reaction makes Rama realize they will have to defeat him first. As they fight him, Rama deduces Ashwatthama has Krishna's curse after noticing how painful regenerating is for him. Peperoncino realizes God Arjuna placed the curse on Ashwatthama after stealing his contract with him. Ashwatthama confesses in his rage that he followed God Arjuna’s commands to escape from his eternal suffering. With his rage further increasing his power, he fights the group again. Rama then transfers his curse to himself since he and Krishna are both avatars of Vishnu.[39]

Joined by Ashwatthama, the group leave the mountains. He suggests they deny the Yuga to weaken God Arjuna by surviving and rejecting his Noble Phantasm. Ganesha and Lakshmibai decide to use their Noble Phantasms to help achieve this. Ashwatthama decides to send them into the past, which he can do thanks to God Arjuna’s constant resting damaging space-time. He will send them to the beginning of God Arjuna's rule, from which they will have to become an ever present element. If they can do that, it will prove God Arjuna’s imperfection and weaken him in the present. Holy beasts then start approaching, so Lakshmibai uses Alakshmi's power to call upon the Kali to distract them. As the others fend off the holy beasts, Lakshmibai and Ganesha activate Nahi Doongi and Ganesha Vighneshvara. They then enter the rift opened by Ashwattham’s Mahakala Shakti. The monsters soon overwhelm the group when the Border arrives. The group board it, and Goredolf uses evasive maneuvers to retreat from the monsters.[40]

Time advances to the last day of the Kali Yuga. Goredolf maneuvers the Border to evade the Vimana’s shooting. They soon arrive at God’s Skyboulder and realize Lakshmibai and Ganesha’s Noble Phantasms created it. After breaking through the Kali protecting it, Ritsuka touches it to free Lakshmibai and Ganesha. Rama supports Lakshmibai in regaining her balance after her millenias of isoalation. He tells her that since Alakshmi is Lakshmi's sister, she is Sita' sister, so there is nothing wrong with helping his sister-in-law. Ashwatthama then disappears due to using his Noble Phantasm and God Arjuna severing their contract. However, to most of everyone's surprise, Karna returns from God Arjuna's "trash dump" thanks to Ashwatthama relinquishing his own body and Spirit Core to him there earlier.[41]

Through Ashwatthama’s Spirit Core, Karna knows almost everything that has transpired since his absence and has temporary access to Shiva’s power. Seeing him, God Arjuna descends to face Karna as final yuga approaches. Douman also arrives, and Vitch leaves. God Arjuna and Douman retreat following a battle with Ritsuka’s party and Karna filling God Arjuna with doubt. The group follows God Arjuna in the Border to Fantasy Tree Spiral when they’re stopped by the Sea of Milk. Captain activates his Noble Phantasm to transform the Border into the Nautilus to cross the poisonous waters, revealing himself to be Captain Nemo.[42]

Reaching landfall, Ritsuka’s party reach Spiral. Rama admits Krishna's curse is affecting him too much for him to fight effectively any longer. He decides to give his Brahmastra to Karna, adding his utter lack of fame in the Lostbelt makes it impossible to fight at his full strength even without the curse. Karna replies the lack of fame affects him as well, but Rama points to Ganesha as the one person who knows in her soul Karna's heroics. Rama then gives Karna his Brahmastra to grant him Vishnu's power, imploring Karna to save Sita in his place. Taking Shiva and Vishnu's powers as his own, Karna's Saint Graph transforms. God Arjuna and Douman then appear. Douman has Spiral fully activate, and God Arjuna absorbs some of its power before fighting Karna.[42]

After God Arjuna disappears, the group prepares to destroy Spiral when Peperoncino decides to stop them. Rama realizes Krishna’s curse disappeared with God Arjuna. Karna returns Rama’s Brahmastra to him, reverting to his original state. He spent all his magical energy in his fight with God Arjuna, and only through sheer force of will does he remain. He then joins Peperoncino and allows a fully revitalized and ascended Ashwatthama to retake his Saint Graph. Now rejoined as Master and Servant, Peperoncino and Ashwatthama fight the group.[42]

Eventually the group defeat them and destroys Spiral. Ashwatthama disappears, and Douman arrives. He intended to help defend Spiral, but Asclepius (resurrected through delayed Emulated Medicine) delayed him. After Douman’s current body crumbles away, Vitch transports Peperoncino to the Atlantic Lostbelt. As Lakshmibai prepares to leave, Rama tells her to join them again and carry herself with pride and dignity even with Alakshmi's power. Lakshmi tells Rama that she feels he and Sita will reunite one day. She will pray for that day to come and bids Rama farewell.[42]

Interlude[]

Vishnu's Test[]

Around the time after the Fifth Singularity but before the Sixth and Seventh Singularities, Rama is stirred awake by a voice claiming to be Vishnu. Rama responds as if he was caught with doing something bad with "Crap" which Vishnu questions and Rama apologizing. Vishnu asks Rama how he's been since being summoned, if there is something missing or have any concerns. Rama tells Vishnu that its been nice that the Master treats him as a friend and had no complaints. Vishnu then asked Rama about when he is in battle. Rama tells Vishnu he was fine and would like to show him his power. Vishnu is a bit surprised that Rama would talk to him that way. Vishnu then asked Rama to think back to when he was summoned and given his Noble Phantasm. Rama asked if he was talking about Vishnu Baazoo, the Arm of the Great One which Vishnu lament that Rama forgot it's name and can't use it. Vishnu berates him, asking if he just now realize after being reminded that it was sealed which Rama tries to claim that there had been no enemies that required the use of it. Vishnu was unimpressed Rama's humble brag of his power and subtly threaten to take Brahmastra away since he would also be fine without it which Rama backtracks and begs to at least leave him with that. Vishnu relents but also reminds Rama to shout his favorite word. Vishnu then tells Rama that there is somewhere he wants him to travel to with his Master where there be trials that Vishnu set up for Rama and if he fails, he will no longer have his blessing. As Vishnu goes away, he tells Rama to always mind him, never forget him and to use his Noble Phantasm properly.

Rama would later tell his Master about the dream he had and begged them and Mash to help him. Ritsuka questions if gods act like in a suspicious manner like that which Rama confesses its more or less how he envision Vishnu due to never having MET them personally and that is why he was a bit wacky. In any event, Rama did receive messages from Vishnu whenever he loses his way or forgets something so he is unsure if the dream is either his subconscious or the real Vishnu sending him a message. Regardless, Rama believes something will happen. Dr. Roman that there may be something to it since a minute Singularity formed in America on Alcatraz. Rama recalls that it was where Sita was held an concludes that it has something to do with dream.

After Rayshifting to America, Rama reminisces on that it seems that his life was full of trials. Dr. Roman chimes in that according to the Ramayana, that Rama was exiled from his homeland as a prince, Rama adds that his stepmother KaikeyiWP suspected that he would treat her unfairly if he became king and was at least thankful that he wasn't killed. Rama notes that his younger brother LakshmanaWP was with him during the exile, and with Sita by his side it wasn't all bad and viewed it more like a long journey. Mash then adds that BharataWP refused to ascend the throne and waited for Rama to return. Rama was thankful for how blessed he was but lament that the journey stopped being fun when Sita was taken.

Abilities[]

Rama is primarily not a Saber Class Servant, and it would be better to summon him as an Archer. However, to increase the possibilities of him reuniting with his beloved Sita, who has great compatibility with the Archer Class, he takes the Saber Class instead.[2] Geronimo states that Rama is the strongest out of all the Servants that had been summoned at the start of the North American Singularity. He expressed the need to remove the curse weakening him as soon as possible, saying that at full strength, Rama would likely be an equal match for Karna.[9][43] Sherlock Holmes states that his heroic deeds were so great, that it is no exaggeration to say that in the India from Proper Human History, there is not a single person who has not heard his name. Rama along with Karna, Arjuna, and Parvati were Da Vinci's top choices of which Servants she would have liked to summon in the Indian Lostbelt with the Spirit Origin graph. Even without the home advantage, he and Karna would remain among the best servants she could have hoped to summon in India.[26]

Combat[]

Rama states that Endurance is his strong suit,[9] as seen when he survived for several days despite 80% of his heart having been previously destroyed by Gáe Bolg.[7] The fact that Rama was alive for so long is described as an "error" in the proper cause-and-effect flow of the world. Dr. Roman claims that being the hero of the Ramayana, one of India's two epic poems, if anyone can perform a miracle, it's Rama.[9] This was possible due to Rama enduring the curse through his sheer willpower,[9] as he refuses to die until he meets Sita again.[7] Normally, it would be necessary to defeat Cú Chulainn to remove his curse, however, due to the world's state being unstable in the North American Singularity, strengthening Rama's own existence would result in removing the distortion cast on him. The best way to achieve this would be by making contact with a Servant who knew him when he was alive.[9] Thanks to Sita having also been summoned there, Chaldea was able to remove the Curse from Rama.[6]

Scáthach states that although Rama is still inexperienced, his skill makes him a swordsman comparable to Cú Chulainn.[18] Rama is consistently shown to be weaker than Cú Chulainn Alter.[7][21][23][24] Even the combined efforts of Rama, Mash Kyrielight and Florence Nightingale further empowered by Command Spells are at a disadvantage against Cú Alter. Had not Merlin intervened, Cu Alter would have killed Mash with Gáe Bolg.[21]

In the Indian Lostbelt, Karna, Rama, and Nezha are unable to perform at their best due to a lonely aura covering the entire world, despite them being summoned in their home country. This doesn't mean they can't fight, but that they definitely can't use 100% of their power. Nezha states that the effects are negligible, and that they should have no serious issues in combat, to which Karna agrees.[26] Rama says this is as simple as asking where can he be a greater hero: the India that knows him, or the India that doesn't. By virtue of who he is, he can of course be a great hero in either, but there is still bound to be a difference. If these two versions of him were to throw their Brahmastras at one another, the victor would surely be the one from the India that knows him. And there would surely be an observable gap between the two. He was unable to deal with William Tell's repeated snipe attacks on his own.[36]

Rama Cursed

Rama in pain due to Krishna's curse

Karna regards Nezha (Berserker) as a formidable fighter, and even when working together with Rama and Mash Kyrielight they were unable to overpower her. Karna states that if the battle had been prolonged, one of them would have ended up resorting to releasing the full power of their Noble Phantasm.[27] Even with the support of Rama, Ganesha, and Mash, Karna was unable to overpower Ashwatthama in close range combat, and was forced to use Vasavi Shakti in order to buy some time to escape.[29] Since Krishna and Rama are both avatars of Vishnu, Rama was able to transfer Krishna's curse from Ashwatthama's body to his own, ending Ashwatthama's suffering. While Rama wasn't able to completely destroy it, as Vishnu's avatar, he claimed that it should not affect him as much. Still, he says that brings him down to half his normal strength.[39] When Arjuna Alter died, Krishna's curse was lifted, allowing Rama to fight without restraint once again. With the help of Ganesha, Lakshmibai, and Mash, Rama was able to defeat Ashwatthama.[42]

Skills[]

Class Skills[]

  • Magic Resistance (A Rank): Thanks to the teachings he received from the sacred sage, all magic was rejected from Rama, canceling out all spells ranked of A or below. In fact, modern mages would not be able to wound him with magecraft.[2]
  • Divinity (A Rank): Rama, the Hero-Saint who surpasses many legendary heroes, is one of the avatars of Vishnu, one of the Three Greater Gods of India.[2]

Personal Skills[]

  • Blessing of Martial Arts (A Rank): Rama, whose fate is to defeat Demon King Ravana, not only excels in swordsmanship but also with all forms of martial arts. Also, due to this, he can bring out his prided spear and bow with powers close to a Noble Phantasm while as a Saber.[2]
  • Charisma (B Rank): The natural talent to command an army. Increases the abilities of allies during group battles. A rare talent, it is possible to say that having Rank B in this is sufficient for one to lead a whole country as its sovereign. After the battle with Ravana and his triumphal return with Sita, Rama became a king who widely imposed his virtuous rulership, having devoted his life to protecting his country.[2]
  • Curse of Separation (A Rank): Due to this curse that was put on him by the wife of the monkey with the name of Vali, all because of an incident where Vali was murdered by him, Rama can never meet with his wife Sita, who can possibly be said to be also his other half, for all of eternity. Simultaneously, the circumstances of this curse will, at the time of being summoned by the Holy Grail, result in “Sita” being summoned as a different side of Rama. In other words, it is but a sign that even being summoned due to the Holy Grail will not be able to make the two stand side-by-side.[2]

Noble Phantasms[]

Despite having manifested as a Saber, Rama still has access to the Brahmastra Noble Phantasm. Originally an arrow, something to be nocked on a bow and shot with, Rama, who wanted to become a Saber, forcibly remodeled it into a sword. However, its ability as a thrown weapon has not been discarded, and this sword can be violently thrown too.[1][2] Even at full power, it failed to kill Cú Chulainn Alter, who countered with Gáe Bolg, destroying 80% of Rama's heart in the process.[7] Being "half-dead", Brahmastra's power is greatly decreased, failing to defeat Beowulf even as a surprise attack. However, Beowulf surrendered out of shame due to being unable to overpower Rama even in his weakened state.[6]

Rama's second Noble Phantasm, Vishnu Bhuja, gives him access to the numerous weapons granted by the sage VishwamitraWP for opposing all kinds of gods and demons. These weapons include; Discs (chakrams), which are throwing weapons, the javelin Shuuravara, the clubs (gada) Modhaki and Shikhari, the trident Trishula possessed by the god Shiva, Shiva’s bow Pinaka,.. and so forth. The higher Rama’s Divinity, the more his existence is regarded as something close to Vishnu’s, and the maximum limit of the number of the many weapons he can bring outgrows. If his Divinity is at Rank A, then it is also not impossible for him to operate as an Archer and a Lancer while being a Saber.[2]

Development[]

Creation and Conception[]

Rama was designed by Rin Kususaga in Fate/Grand Order.[2] His scenario writer is Yuuichirou Higashide in Fate/Grand Order.[2]

Comment from Illustrator[]

"The world’s number one for three consecutive years by being an androgynous pretty boy. For you, the finest handsome man one can think about right now! His concept is like the trailer of a western movie (there is no such western movie though). Drawing a shy expression, I thought “you are super cute!” When playing the game, during the great king’s tendencies, given that the contents of those tendencies are of a great princess-like character, does that hit a moe point too?" (Rin Kususaga) [2]
