MorganWP (モルガンWP, Morugan?), Class Name Berserker (バーサーカー, Bāsākā?), is a Berserker-class Servant appearing in the British Lostbelt of Fate/Grand Order. She is later summoned by Ritsuka Fujimaru.

Profile[]

Identity[]

The Lostbelt Queen who rules over Faerie Britain.

Originally named Viviane (ヴィヴィアン?),[5] she was created by the planet in 4,000 BC to be the savior of Britain. She was taken in and raised by the Rain Clan in Orkney.[3] One day, she received the memories of Proper Human History Ruler Morgan le Fay.[6][7] During her 16th birthday, the Rain Clan was massacred overnight by an alliance of the Wind, Earth, Fang, and Wing clans. They were killed for protecting the Fairy of Paradise. In fulfilling her role as savior, she used the name Aesc the Savior (救世主トネリコ, Kyūseishu Toneriko?) as an alias (after the world tree of Norse myth[8]) given to her by her adoptive mother after Orkney's destruction.[3]

For 3600 years, Aesc dispelled the Calamities that appear every 100 years, and the Great Calamities that appear every thousand.[9] After defeating one of them, Aesc would hide in a cave and rest in a coffin for 20 years.[10] She also fought alongside her retainers Ector the Immortal, Grímr the Wise, and the Knight of Beginnings, Totorot. Her legends have continued into the British Lostbelt's modern day.[citation needed]

Aesc was originally created by the Inner Sea of the Planet to force the Fairies of Britain to repent and complete their duty of forging the Holy Sword via Avalon Le Fae.[5] Aesc is a "Caster", the one who channels the voice of Paradise. Due to this, most fairies in Britain hate everything about her.[10] After being betrayed too many times during her various attempts to save Britain, Morgan decided to dominate Britain instead. In response to her failure, the planet created a new fairy, Artoria, to fulfill Morgan's old mission.[citation needed]

Thousands of years ago, she had received the memories of her Proper Human History counterpart (who Beryl Gut had summoned when he first arrived in the Lostbelt, and she rayshifted her memories back in time) and had used them to change the Lostbelt's history such that it would create a world for her to rule. This was one of the causes for Morgan refusing to complete her duty to forge Excalibur, as this would mean the denial of the Lostbelt's existence and therefore the end of the Britain that she loved and wished to preserve.

She established an authoritarian monarchy in the Lostbelt Britain and has made the fairies suffer under her oppressive rule for 2000 years. As the highest-ranking fairy, she is a genius mage who has mastered Rhongomyniad, the Lance that Shines to the Ends of the World, as a form of Magecraft.[1]

Morgan plans to use the magical energy of the Great Calamity to destroy proper history and turn the entire world into Faerie Britain. This will kill all the fairies outside her Camelot as well, but new fairies will always be born. She cares not for the people of Britain, only for her kingdom itself.

Appearance[]

Morgan's appearance in her previous life doesn't look too different from Artoria's. However, as she grows, her appearance also changes in her current state. She now has white hair, blue eyes, and a revealing black and blue outfit, which in turn makes her look similar to Artoria Alter, only more slender, taller, and with paler skin.

Her hair is silver, almost luminescent, flowing straight down her back and framing her face with blunt bangs that highlight her piercing blue eyes and fair complexion. She is adorned in a complex, layered gown that combines high fantasy with gothic couture. The dress has a high, black collar reminiscent of a ruff, and a bodice that is both sleek and adorned with intricate patterns, giving it an armored appearance. This bodice extends into a plunging neckline, bordered by striking blue accents that mirror the color of her eyes. The sleeves of her gown are detached, flowing from her shoulders and draping elegantly down her arms, with transparent, wing-like extensions. Her gown's skirt is long and split, revealing the front of her legs, and cascades into a train behind her. The color scheme of her dress transitions from the black and intricate blues of the bodice to the stark white of the skirt. The hem of the gown is adorned with darker, feather-like details, reinforcing the birdlike motif suggested by her sleeves.

Personality[]

A cold, ruthless queen who trusts only in her own power. It isn't that she never trusts others, but they cannot be relied upon. Morgan's first priority is the orderly rule of the British Isles.

She dislikes humans, faeries, weakness, ugliness, equality, and peace. From the perspective of her subjects, she is evil incarnate.

Yet, she dislikes them not because she finds them needless, but because they are incompatible with her. To Morgan, control is just. Anything which threatens that control is evil. Therefore, Morgan's personal preferences are unrelated to her standards of good and evil as a sovereign. Even if she personally finds something distasteful, she will openly acknowledge and tolerate it if it is necessary to her rule. Her absolute, extreme values make her seem like a heartless machine.[1]

That said, Morgan does have a heart. She is simply no longer capable of strongly feeling happiness and sadness, hatred and rage, or love and romance. After so many years of single-mindedly protecting Britain, her heart has gone cold.

Except for one last flicker of passion in her chest— a long-held yearning of her past self. Her goal to control Britain is the sole wish that still drives her.

...It is not a human-like dream from her youth, but rather simply what she was born to do. This is a truth she learned during her long, long journey.

  ◆

Morgan of Proper Human History is a storybook villain with an infamously amorous, brutal, and impulsive character, but this Morgan had those aspects weathered away by the passage of time, leaving her a tranquil, intelligent woman—a frustrated, or perhaps reformed, nation-ruining beauty.

Everything, from sensual pleasures, to the thrill of hurting someone, to the exhilaration of self-fulfillment, is, in Morgan's own words, "Boring. I tire of such things."

However, her qualities are simply subdued, not gone. If she were to find herself in dire enough circumstances, her old wicked ways and preferences may reemerge.[1]

Morgan has adopted Baobhan Sith as her daughter, but she only ever praises her when Baobhan Sith torments the weak.[11] However, she genuinely cares for her. Their relationship is exploited when an incident involving Spriggan has Baobhan hostage, causing Morgan to be caught off guard and left vulnerable to an attack from Spriggan's accompanying guards.

She secretly inherited all the memories of the Proper Human History Morgan through the machinations of the latter, and with them the knowledge that within the Lostbelt she could rewrite Britain's history so she could succeed in ruling Britain where her Proper Human History self failed. Being the ruler of Britain is her whole existence, and without it she believes that she would be worthless. Though once she used to be a kind queen ruling alongside Uther, repeated betrayals and rebellions have long since left her bitter and disillusioned. As such, she is convinced that only by ruling the Lostbelt as a tyrant can she keep Britain from being destroyed, either unaware of the fact that Britain's savior was never meant to rule Britain at all and that her kingdom could only be saved through its unmaking. or simply unwilling to accept it lest she be forced to destroy the country she loves.

When summoned she regards her master as her husband/wife, a position she defines as being that of total dedication and servitude towards her. She agrees to aid Chaldea when summoned by Ritsuka Fujimaru, but adds that she will always hate Proper Human History. Despite this, she eventually admits that she has become fond of Ritsuka over time and views them as her spouse in earnest. She also acknowledges Ritsuka's "hard work" done to further Chaldea's goals, and presents the master with 100,000,000 QP.

Relationships[]

Baobhan Sith
"I'm glad you seem to be feeling well, but... (sigh) Why are you like this, Baobhan Sith? You need to fix that habit of crying over things you broke yourself."[4]
"Yes, she is my daughter and the successor to Faerie Britain's throne. Are you raising any objections? The fae can't obey someone without a vicious personality, and when their abilities grow too great, they stop obeying even me. Her lack of ability won't be a problem. I'll make all the Mystic Codes she needs to have Faerie Britain in the palm of her hands."[2]
"I made a royal suite for my daughter, never imagining she'd withdraw to the depths of the forest. That said, it's a good thing that she found a new hobby. I'm no fool to call her home. But! Could you watch her for me? I'm somewhat worried she might take a weird turn."[12]
Barghest
"She's my most trusted Faerie Knight. Her tendency to prioritize the jobs no one wants to do is very deserving of praise. Even Aesc the Savior would have applauded her contributions in the battle against a certain Calamity."[2]
Barghest (Swimsuit)
"Barghest... I gave her vacations and look at what she does... Her disposition to be of service is beyond me. I'll repay her in earnest later."[12]
Melusine
"The strongest knight in Faerie Britain, no matter the form of combat. I gifted her the name Lancelot as proof of that. Our relationship was supposed to be one on equal terms... but I made her my vassal in order to free her from the fate she's cursed with. And she seems to hold some respect for me. Therefore, she follows my orders. But ultimately, respect is not what she's a martyr to.[2]
Melusine (Swimsuit)
"Melusine. You seem to have liked this beach, but it's my private beach. Move to Chaldea's beach."[12]
Artoria Caster
"Among all generations of Avalon le Fae, none must have been as foolish, as stubborn, and as fortunate as her. Because regardless of what it took to get there, in her last moments, she saw the ideal star none of us ever reached."[2]
Artoria Avalon
"Avalon Le Fae... I see... So you found your destiny."[4]
Artoria Caster (Swimsuit)
"You've shown your true colors, Boar of Tintagel. Bunny ears? For shame!"[4]
Habetrot
"Totorot!? ...Mrgh. Oh, you aren't her. No, you aren't. You are a faerie from Proper Human History—a variant of your Faerie Britain self. Even so...a spade is a spade. My friend, my knight... How many times has your strength saved me in my time of need? Even if you are someone else, it makes me happy to see you smile. It does, but... What is that Noble Phantasm!? There's no need for such things at a wedding! How dare they!? Damn you, Chaldea!"[4]
"She is one of the very few wonderful things in Proper-Human History. Don't let yourself forget that."[2]
Aesc
"—I'll save her story for another occasion."[2]
Oberon
"Vermin. Do not approach me. I should have crushed you the moment I first laid eyes upon you!"[4]
Artoria Pendragon (Saber)
"So that detestable red dragon—Artoria—is here. Even if she was an innocent product of Uther and Merlin's plot... I will never forgive her. One day, I will crush her underfoot."[4]
Artoria Pendragon (Swimsuit)
"Oi, you have got to be kidding me, Artoria. Lend me that water cannon while you're at it!"[4]
Artoria Pendragon Alter (Saber)
"Artoria... do you have a gift for antagonizing people? Were you born solely to impugn my dignity? Why did you name a Noble Phantasm only good for destroying things after me? Say it to my face. I dare you."[4]
Artoria Pendragon (Ruler) (Swimsuit)
"I found quite the respectable Heroic Spirit in the pool a while ago. A blond woman. Her chest was a tad excessive, but her clothes and conduct were refined. Must have been quite the famed hero. She said she was the owner of a casino hotel but was there any hotel like this on the island?"[12]
Mordred
"She made a copy of Artoria!? Was the Proper Human History of me THAT obsessed!? ...No, forget I said that. It was a slip of the tongue. Mordred... I must say, she is well made. How could I fail after crafting such an excellent pawn? Wait, I succeeded?"[4]
"We sometimes pass by each other in the hallways, and every time we do, she passes by me gnawing her teeth with an expression that can be interpreted as either hatred, resignation, or sadness. It's almost vexing that I have nothing I can say to her."[2]
Gawain / Gareth
"My children in Proper Human History... I cannot imagine being blessed with children... But they seem to have grown into upstanding knights, unlike me."[4]
"Both knights are like undistorted rays of sunshine. There was more to the Proper-Human Morgan than just vengefulness, and those two can be taken as proof of that."[2]
Gareth (Swimsuit)
"Gareth is also coming to the beach? As the Lostbelt king, this has nothing to do with me, but I'll watch her, for reference. Let's see... [long pause] Wonderful! She's lovely in a way similar to but distinctively different from Arthuria. All her forms are Holy Lance-class, but my favorite is the second Ascension."[12]
Merlin
"Merlin is a nightmare incarnate. No matter how many times you try to kill him, he bounces back out of nowhere and leaves you with horrible memories. So, the only thing to do is to lock him away. It's important to never approach him afterward. He'll just deceive you again with his wily tongue."[4]
Cú Chulainn (Lancer) / Caster / (Prototype)
"Cú Chulainn... Why is he so excessively cautious of me? He was manipulated by a wicked goddess? What does that have to do with me? All I ever did was curse to death the warriors who spurned me."[4]

Role[]

Fate/Grand Order[]

Olympus: Interstellar Mountainous City[]

Morgan fired Rhongomyniad from her location in the English Lostbelt all the way to Olympus in the Atlantic Lostbelt and destroyed Olympus's Fantasy Tree.[13][14]

Avalon le Fae: Fae Round Table Domain[]

Morgan has ruled with an iron fist for 2,000 years. She conquered Britain by defeating the six fairy clans with her black magic, uniting them by force. She granted the humans a certain degree of freedom, and over the course of 2,000 years, she created a Fairy Kingdom that was a shallow copy of human civilization. When Morgan took to the throne, she said to the fairies: "I will not tolerate you. I will not save you. Merely obey. Hang your heads. I will protect a Britain of absolute subservience."[15][16][8][17][18][19][20]

Morgan dominates the fairies and imposes strict control over the number of human births. Fairies living in cities are inscribed with Morgan's curse, the Command Spells; once a year, fairies marked with these are forced to offer their life force as an "existence tax". Fairies who fail to amass enough magical energy over the course of a year to satisfy Morgan die on the spot.

There are a series of calamities plaguing the island ever since Britain's very creation. The Moss are said to be the first in this series, but others spring up periodically, and Morgan's knights fight them. Morgan is a cold-hearted tyrant while at the same time being a sword that protects Britain. The fairies fear and despise her, but at the same time rely on her rule.

Beryl Gut was lying about angering the inhabitants of his Lostbelt, and it was actually all part of his and Morgan's plan to get close to Kirschtaria; so that Morgan could use Beryl as a beacon to aim Rhongomyniad at Olympus's Fantasy Tree. Beryl states that he is both Morgan's Master and husband. It is later revealed that Morgan destroyed Seyfert on her own without Beryl's knowledge, and had in fact been planning to do so from the beginning.

Mash defends Da Vinci, Ritsuka, and Artoria from Morgan's teleportation spell called Water Mirror that was meant to be used on the Calamity of Norwich and disappears, though Beryl Gut insists she is still alive.[21][22][23][24][25][26]

During her meeting with Ritsuka, Da Vinci, Artoria, Morgan claims the "collapse" that threatens the Proper Human History is her expanding her territory. She also reveals the Great Calamity will come at the end of the year and kill every fairy in Britain, though she isn't concerned since fairies will always be born anew. As long as her castle remains, the Fairy Kingdom will rise again and again. Morgan challenges Artoria to overthrow her and take the throne to take control of the magical energy stored within if she wishes to save Britain from the Great Calamity. But until Artoria rings the pilgrim's bells and rises up as the Child of Prophecy, Morgan will not see her nor Chaldea as her enemy.[27][28][29][10][30][31][9][32] After Artoria's party leaves, the Chaldean enters Morgan's throne room. He tells her that to him, the planet collapsing from her rule is more preferable than what the Alien God has planned for it, before leaving.[3][33][6]

Later, when Artoria's party and their allies lay siege to Camelot, Morgan sends out projections of herself to easily defeat them. Afterwards, however, she is attacked by Woodwose for an alleged betrayal, not understanding he was manipulated by Aurora. Morgan allows herself to take a mortal wound that leaves her only able to use one hand as she kills Woodwose as an act of mercy after he realizes what he has done in shame. Spriggan arrives taking advantage of the situation with an entourage of knights to kill Morgan. She prepares to kill them with her magecraft until she sees they've taken her "daughter" hostage and lets her guard down with two of Spriggan's knights stabbing at her from behind. Morgan kills them all a moment later, but is unable to return back to her throne to recover on her own with the court fairies pondering if they should aid her. As she tries to reach the throne, Aurora's voice sways the fairies in the court to revolt against her and Morgan is brutally killed as she desperately begs someone to take her to the throne, not wanting to lose Britain again. It was later relayed to Artoria's party that her body was mutilated beyond recognition.[34][7][35][36][5][37][38]

Fate/Grand Order Arcade[]

After Whore of Babylon's defeat and Draco's transformation into an Alter Ego and ally to the alternative Chaldea, the Remnants of Sodom's Beast still remained deep in the heart of Lilim Harlot, accumulating power to turn Draco back into Beast VI/S. Through its connection to Draco, it summoned Abigail Williams, Skadi and Merlin to help gain power with new Remnant Singularities and Holy Grails, as well as to create trials to provide entertainment for Draco. After the Remnant Singularities were resolved and the connection between Draco and Lilim Harlot was severed by Muramasa, it is revealed that Morgan le Fay was also summoned with the other Servants by the Remnants of Sodom's Beast, but she didn't cooperate and went rogue, instead using her Holy Grail to create her own country within the Singularity where she would reign as Queen. Draco rayshifted the alternative Chaldea into Morgan's singularity and aided in defeating her and retrieving the Grail.

Abilities[]

Morgan is a Fairy of Paradise created in the Inner Sea of the Planet.[3][34] Due to being an A-Rei, Morgan is equivalent to Divided Spirit of the Earth's Soul and comparable to personified nature gods in scope.[17] Her original purpose was to forge The Holy Sword.[5] However, she gave up after ringing the six Bells of Pilgrimage and unlocking her latent power because she realized that she would repair the British Singularity if she did.[36][5] Morgan's Saint Graph is on par with Artoria Caster's after the latter completed her pilgrimage.[34] However, even in this state, Artoria didn't come close to reaching Morgan's level.[35] Morgan calls Artoria a fool for thinking she could match her after completing a single pilgrimage, strongly implying she herself has gone through multiple of them. According to Morgan, a single journey does not give Artoria enough power to match even her little finger.[34]

Morgan has never used Rhongomyniad in the history of the British Lostbelt. Due to this, no one in her kingdom was aware of her full capabilities.[3] In spite of this, she is widely regarded as the most powerful Fairy in all of Britain.[17] According to Aurora, not even she could defeat Morgan if she faced her directly. In fact, she claims that Morgan could wipe the entire Wing Clan with one flick of her finger.[8] However, some believed that Artoria Caster would become stronger than Morgan once she reached her full potential.[22] While Aurora and Grimm the Wise initially claimed that the Child of Prophecy is the only one that could hope to defeat Morgan,[8][3] the former later confessed to Spriggan that Artoria has no hope of defeating the High Queen.[30] Even during her pilgrimage, Artoria was convinced that it would be impossible for her to beat Morgan.[32] Although Fairy Knight Gawain claims that Lancelot is the strongest creature in the Faerie Kingdom,[8] Spriggan believes that Woodwose is the only person capable of defeating Morgan.[30]

Even before learning that Morgan had Twelve Rhongomyniads, and not just one, Goredolf Musik claimed that she was a powerful enemy on par with any of the other Lostbelt Kings they had seen.[23] The Alien God's vessel was supposed to be made from a Fantasy Tree, however, this was prevented due to Morgan using Seyfert to burn down Magellan.[13][15] Without a vessel for the Alien God to descend to Olympus, Beryl Gut believes that Morgan is the strongest being on the planet.[13] Even after U-Olga Marie manifested using a human body as a substitute,[13] Beryl still believed that there was nothing for Morgan to be afraid of, as it was not the Saint Graph she had originally intended.[31] According to the Chaldean and Morgan herself, neither the Child of Prophecy nor the Master of Chaldea have any hope of defeating Morgan.[24][31] However, things could change considerably with the intervention of "a third player".[24] Furthermore, Oberon Vortigern states that he certainly didn't have the means of defeating Morgan before Cernunnos died.[38] According to Oberon, Tamamo Vitch Koyanskaya is at least as much of an obstacle to Chaldea as Morgan.[30]

Morgan naturally possesses a lot of Magical Energy even without the Fantasy Tree or the Existence Tax. She is the only being in Faerie Britain that surpasses the Fairy Knight in Od quantity,[8] and just one of her fingers carries as much as Artoria Caster powered by one Bell of Pilgrimage.[27] It isn't until Artoria rings all six Bells of Pilgrimage that her magical energy is said to be equal to Morgan's.[34]

When summoned as a Berserker-class Servant by Chaldea, Morgan is severely weakened. Even in her final Ascension, her power is only one third of her original.[4]

Combat[]

MorganWeapons

Morgan's weapons.

According to Sherlock Holmes, it would be prudent to assume that Morgan has more weapons at her disposal than just Rhongomyniad.[23] In combat, Morgan carries a black Demonic Spear, better described as a halberd, tipped with a blade resembling Excalibur Morgan. It was originally a staff that could be used for various Magecrafts. However, it ended up transforming into a true weapon during the reoccurring wars.[39] Boggart also claims that Morgan's Holy Spear rivals Mash's Black Barrel.[18][20] After Boggart used Black Barrel against Fairy Knight Gawain, he believed that it was powerful enough take down, not just the Fairy Knight, but Morgan herself. However, Barghest survived the attack, and claimed that it couldn't compare to a single strike from Morgan.[20] Super Mash was able to block a surprise attack from Morgan.[7]

Morgan can fight entire armies on her own with ease.[16][3][34] During 1 AD, the Six Clans banded together and tried to kill her.[16] However, she was far stronger than all of them combined even without Rhongomyniad.[3] Due to this, Morgan was able to defeat them and subjugate half of the clans through force with evil Magecraft, uniting all of Faerie Britain for two thousand years.[16] By her estimation, even the rebel army comprised of Cnoc na Riabh's 30,000 troops and the Round Table Army are no greater threat than the eight Calamity. She claims that she could easily handle all of them by herself.[34] In fact, Oberon states that Morgan is more powerful than every soldier in Britain combined. She could have massacred the entire rebel army on her own whenever she wanted, without even stepping off her throne.[7] Furthermore, Morgan could kill 25 royal knights all across Britain in a single night. Although they may not compare to the Fairy Knight, a single one of them is still equal to a thousand ordinary soldiers.[34]

Nobody is allowed to bring strength achieved through training into Muryan's Fae Domain at Gloucester. All who enter, even Morgan herself, are left with no more power than they were born with. However, Muryan claims that Morgan could easily dispel her Fae Domain if she wanted to.[17] According to Fairy Knight Lancelot, the only Fairies who could fight her on even terms are Morgan and Barghest in her enlarged Fairy body.[34]

Even while mortally wounded, Woodwose was able to knock Morgan to the floor,[7] although she could have dodged it if she wanted to.[40] After killing him with a dagger, a wounded Morgan tries to return to the throne and is stopped by Spriggan's soldiers. According to Morgan, she could kill all of them even if there was nothing left of her body but her head. However, she is coerced to stand down due to Spriggan taking Baobhan Sith hostage. Due to this, Morgan is butchered by the Fairies in the throne room. Her body was horribly mutilated, eliminating the chance of a successor appearing.[7]

Magecraft[]

Normally, Fairies perform Sacraments without any help from basic Magecraft, Spells, or Mystic Codes. Due to this, Magecraft is less valued by them, and they ridicule those that bother using it.[16] Morgan is no exception, and fairies still dismiss her deep down as someone who can't even make sacraments without using magecraft. In Beryl Gut's opinion, it is the other way around: Morgan is a scary powerful fairy who supplements her already insane fairy powers with even crazier magecraft.[29] The Chaldean claims that he is not a talented Mage like Morgan. He praises her Magecraft skill and regards her accomplishments as truly exceptional. He believes that there are only scant few who have even approached her level of godlike genius.[24] Spells are like tales to her, she condenses the ideas of a book and reproduces them as phenomena.[41] Morgan's Spells are rather powerful, so Grimm the Wise prepared Rune inscriptions capable of resisting at least one hit from them.[33] Morgan used to be the only one who uses Magecraft in the British Lostbelt, so Fairies who use it are also referred as "Morgan's daughters".[19] Her forte is transference magecraft.[24]

Morgan has displayed the following uses of Magecraft:

  • Rhongomyniad: Morgan has mastered the Spear of End Rhongomyniad as a form of Magecraft.[1]
  • Rayshifting: While Aesc wasn't capable of it,[3] as Morgan, she can Rayshift things without a Coffin, something not even Chaldea could pull off.[29] When Proper Human History Ruler Morgan le Fay was summoned by Beryl Gut, she grasped both what had taken place in the British Lostbelt's history, and the mechanisms of Chaldea's summoning system.[6] She deciphered the secrets of Rayshifting, and used them herself.[24][6] Information is the only thing which can be Rayshifted. Due to this, one must first use a Coffin to transform their body into Pseudo-Spiritrons, pure information, to Rayshift a living person to a Singularity. Impressive though this theory of Magecraft is, it is only made possible by Singularities existing outside normal space-time. Normally, even a Servant would disperse as soon as they Rayshifted anywhere that wasn't a Singularity. But Morgan was able to ignore this by sending her memories to her Lostbelt self.[6]
  • Garden: Morgan has the Garden,[29] a Spell from the Age of Gods that can only be used by the avatar of Mystery.[23] It is also the artifact where she sealed Merlin.[23][29] During Morgan's time as Aesc the Savior, the Garden was one of her two trump cards alongside the Spear of Selection. According to Totorot, it was a Bounded Field that can trap nightmares.[10] Although Baobhan Sith borrowed the Garden of Lost Will from Morgan, using it caused her body to rot because she didn't have enough Magical Energy.[6] When Morgan was killed, her Garden disappeared, allowing Merlin to manifest in the British Lostbelt as a projection.[5]
  • Water Mirror (水鏡(みずかがみ)?): Also called Infinity Mirror (合わせ鏡, awase kagami?, Opposing Mirrors),[17][26] is a transference magecraft spell that is equivalent to a dimensional connector made by linking a base mirror with a bunch of sub-mirrors. Beryl Gut claims that it is practically Magic and that Proper Human History never had such a quick and easy method of transportation.[29] The reason Fairy Knight Tristan can teleport anywhere she desires is that Morgan gave her one of the sub-mirrors.[17][29] However, it is primarily used by Morgan to send Calamities back in time to the Fae Era.[22][24][28][29] Morgan has different variants of the Water Mirror:
Morgan attack

Morgan's Alter Egos defending Camelot.

  • Thought Copies: Morgan can create clones of herself with the exact same properties and abilities as the original. Although similar to Familiars, Oberon claims that they must be Morgan herself based on the quality of Magecraft they use. Taking this ability into account, Oberon believes that Morgan never needed the Fairy Knight, and that they should have never waged war against her. They should have taken her by surprise and assassinated her instead. It took the combined efforts of Artoria Caster powered by six Bells of Pilgrimage, Super Mash, Percival, and Ritsuka Fujimaru to mortally wound one of Morgan's clones, and they were so worn out that they couldn't fight anymore by the end. According to Morgan, she had not been so gravely injured since her battle with Mab. Morgan then creates at least nine more clones to fight back the Round Table Army. After defeting Chaldea, Morgan states that she needn't have been concerned about Merlin aiding them. However, she admits that Senji Muramasa is more durable than she realized, and that two more clones should do for him.[7]
  • Fairy Knight: Morgan can bestow Fairies with the Gifted Names from the Knights of the Round Table of Proper Human History, granting them their abilities as well.[8] They are infused with a Curse that turns their designation into their new True Name.[20] Due to this, no one can read or call them by their original name.[20][37] The exception is Artoria Caster, whose Fairy Eyes allows her to tell when someone is lying.[37] According to Totorot, a Fairy Knight will lose their gifted name if they are defeated and/or humiliated, forcing them to disavow their knight selves.[27]
  • Water of Conveyance (伝達の水, dentatsu no mizu?): Morgan can create potions capable of sharing her memories with other people, as shown when she awakened Portunes.[25]
  • QP Mint Creation: Morgan rewarded Chaldea for defeating the Calamity of Norwich with 100 million "QP": spatial Magical Energy-occupying values derived by viewing magical elements as particles. While Morgan doesn't have QP mint, she can simply create it by using Chaldea's Magecraft system's methods.[24]

Skills[]

Class Skills[]

  • Mad Enhancement (B Rank): Past events led her to distort her own attributes—the policies necessary for her survival—so she could rule as queen. The labors she put herself through to preserve Faerie Britain can only be described as insane.[2]
  • Fairy Eyes (A Rank): She once had eyes capable of perceiving the truth but now she lost them. That said, her eyes are still vastly more Mysterious than Human eyes.[2]

Personal Skills[]

  • Thirsting Charisma (B Rank): The power of a ruler who, through several failures, disappointments, and despair, has decided to rule her people with fear.[1][2] She ignites her Faerie Reactor to generate energy, increase the whole party's Attack, and lower all enemies' Defense.[2]
  • From the Ends of the World (A Rank): The pride of the queen who returned from the verge of death numerous times, withstood the curse of world termination at the edges of the world, and returned to Britain. A skill that the regular Morgan does not possess, only the Lostbelt King Morgan. A powerful vortex of curses that can turn the tides of the battlefield. The embodiment of a winter storm.[1][2] When the turn starts, she gets 1-time Guts (can't overlap with other Guts), lowers all enemies' Attack and Luck, focuses stars on herself, and gives herself a crit damage buff. The enemy forces spend 3 turns in a disadvantageous environment that can only be described as a storm.[2]

Morgan's throne is the cornerstone of all Britain.[35] Also regarded as Aesc the Savior's masterpiece,[38] it is the false Round Table she created after she completed her pilgrimage and chose to defy her duty.[35] It is the gear that keeps the Servant summoning cycle of every Fairy that died in 1 AD in motion. Whoever bonds with it becomes the Master of Britain's fairies.[35] However, only a chosen Fairy can sit on the throne.[24][33] Cnoc na Riabh claims that not even Artoria Caster powered by six Bells of Pilgrimage would be able to use it because she doesn't have a Saint Graph capable of reforming the contracts of every Fairy. The only one qualified to sit on it besides Morgan is Cnoc na Riabh, as she was formed by Mab for that specific purpose.[35]

Morgan's throne is designed to gather and store the Magical Energy from every Fairy in Britain to use it as a source of power for the Twelve Rhongomyniads.[38] Every year, all Fairies inscribed with Morgan's Curse, the Command Spells, are forced to pay the Existence Tax (存在税?) with half their Magical Energy/Soul.[16][17][24] All fairies who fail to provide enough energy are killed on the spot.[16][17] Such an oppressive regime is bound to create opposition, so Da Vinci claims that Morgan's ability to maintain her iron grip must be indicative of how powerful she really is.[16] Fairies may fear and hate her, but they also depend on her to defeat the Calamities.[16][18]

The Camelot in the British Lostbelt is a giant Mystic Code designed for Morgan as well. Even though the Spell to make it was utterly massive, its connections to her Magic Circuits and Magical Energy circulation are absolutely perfect. Due to this, Artoria Caster regards it as the work of a prodigy without equal.[38] Mash Kyrielight had seen many Magical Reactor Cores before in the sixth lostbelt, but Camelot's easily surpasses them all. Da Vinci agrees, saying it is both the Ends of the World, and its center. She claims that it is just as strong as the Tower of the Ends of the World from the Sixth Singularity.[7] Totorot also states that the Magical Energy in the city is like nowhere else in Faerie Britain. In fact, Morgan has so much mana that she's not even worried about Cnoc na Riabh's 30,000 troops, who are beneath their notice.[24] There is enough magical energy to cover all of Faerie Britain.[8] Morgan claims that she has nothing to fear from the Great Calamity Cernunnos due to all the Magical Energy she has stored in the throne.[24][33]

Rhongomyniad[]

Morgan has mastered the Spear of End Rhongomyniad as a form of Magecraft.[1] She made them before she even received the knowledge of her Proper Human History version. It is regarded by Da Vinci as a Mystery that surpasses even Kirschtaria Wodime’s Ideal Magecraft. A Spell devised not by Human hands, but by the Inner Sea of the Planet.[15] Its Magical Energy pattern is very similar to the Lion King's in the Sixth Singularity. An indication that Morgan has it in weaponized form.[24] U-Olga Marie was wary of Morgan's Rhongomyniad, as it is powerful enough to burn down even a Fantasy Tree.[14] Chaldea also regards it as a powerful weapon against the Alien God.[15][23][24] However, just like other Divine Constructs, it is an object closely tied to its wielder. Grimm the Wise explains that even if Chaldea used it as a point of reference to create their own Mystic Code, they wouldn't be able to use it. They would need to regain the Holy Sword Essence that Proper Human History lost first.[36]

Olympus Armament[]

Kirschtaria Wodime blocks Rhongomyniad

Morgan has not one, but Twelve Rhongomyniads stored in the Camelot's main gate.[24][29][38] The one she threw at Olympus was just one of several she had at the ready.[24] Morgan had always planned to take Olympus out, no matter what Kirschtaria Wodime did, so she prepared Rhongomyniad as a special Spell just for the Alien God.[13] It was an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile akin to Divine Punishment capable of reaching Olympus all the way from Britain.[15] A truly massive burst of Magical Energy which can make a hole in the ground almost the size of Cernunnos' pit.[7] It was blocked by Kirschtaria's barrier.[13]

Spirit Vein Closing Armament[]

The Spell Rhongomyniad: Spirit Vein Closing Armament (霊脈閉塞型兵装(ロンゴミニアド)?) was created by Morgan as a means to defeat Cernunnos using the Twelve Lances, the Magical Energy stored in her throne, and the giant Mystic Code in Camelot.[36][38] However, it had been designed by Morgan with the assumption that it would be a genius like her the one to use it. Since Artoria Caster still lacked sufficient circuits to use all twelve lances, her body was put under a lot of stress when the surge of Magical Energy ran through her body. It dilated her blood vessels, nerves, bones, and muscles from the inside out. Her eyeballs ruptured and her lungs burned. The lances had the necessary firepower to harm Cernunnos and turn even Camelot's impenetrable walls to dust. However, when Artoria first used them, they were still too weak to destroy all the layers of Curses protecting the god's Divine Core. Rhongomyniad was Morgan's Magecraft, so it is natural Artoria is unable to demonstrate its full potential.[38]

Tower of the Ends of the World[]

Morgan uses a huge tower Bounded Field to cover the British Lostbelt known as the Wall at the Ends of the World.[29][7] It is a wall of light that cuts off the Fairie Kingdom from the outside in the Fantasy Tree's absence.[7] According to Chaldea, it resembles the dimensional rift from the Ends of the World from the Sixth Singularity.[15]

British Lost World[]

Influenced by Proper Human History Morgan le Fay's memories, Aesc grew tired of the British Lostbelt's "what if" Cosmic Fantasy and decided to make Britain real, even if she had to stitch it to the fabric of the planet herself.[3] Morgan saw the Fantasy Tree Seyfert for what it really was and used it herself.[24] Based on its remains, Da Vinci claims that the Fantasy Tree must have been huge, even compared to the others they had seen so far.[32] However, Morgan was still able to suck all its Magical Energy with a powerful Spell,[3][7] leaving it a lifeless dry husk.[13][6][7] She used it to resurrect all the Fairies that died to the Great Calamities of 1 AD as Servants using the Chaldea summoning system. That is why they bear Command Spells since they are born.[7] Two thousand years later, Morgan single-handedly burned down the Fantasy Tree to launch an attack on Olympus' own tree Magellan, preventing U-Olga Marie from acquiring her desired Saint Graph.[13][15][29]

Unlike the other Lostbelts, Faerie Britain didn't disappear even after its Fantasy Tree stopped functioning in 1 AD. The reason for this is that Morgan took its place as the pillar sustaining the entire Faerie Kingdom. Furthermore, when Morgan took over Britain and altered the past, the Lostbelt became a Lost World, a whole other Chronicle Theoretical Phenomenon. This was also made possible because it had never been part of Human History long enough to be pruned away. Turning the Lostbelt into a Singularity made it "its own" Human History just as strong as Proper Human History.[29] For this reason, Fairies born in the High Queen (AD) Era can migrate to the outside World.[29][37] However, repairing the Singularity by forging the Holy Sword would restore history, resulting in the Faerie Kingdom never having existed.[36]

The reason Morgan was so cavalier about using the Water Mirror to send Calamities back in time to the Fae Era is that nothing changed in that period of time will affect the present.[9] Worlds created by a Fantasy Tree can tolerate a fair number of discrepancies without falling apart.[9][3] As long as the changes don't contradict the established ones in the Higher Queen Era, they will not create a paradox.[3]

Invasion to Proper Human History[]

Even though Morgan has more than enough power to banish the Great Calamities like she did in Norwich, she decided to use them for herself.[24] Morgan planned to expand Faerie Britain to encompass the whole planet,[17][27] overwritting Proper Human History.[17] She was going to take the Cernunnos, a Curse meant to destroy the World of Faeries, and use it to destroy the World of Humans instead. According to Morgan, the Collapse observed by Chaldea would be the result of expanding her territory. The Chaldean is also conveniced that Morgan could destroy the planet and erase humanity if she was left to her own devices.[24]

Forms and Alternate Versions[]

Swimsuit[]

Due to a certain incident, the Queen Morgan summoned by Chaldea changed to a Summer Saint Graph. She also makes a cameo as the final Ascension of Caster Aesc.[42]

Main article: Aesc

Personality[]

She confidently believes she's still behaving as the usual Queen of Winter, same as always, but she's visibly more relaxed and in higher spirits. Despite the cold conduct, her girly side is showing more than her queenly side. She's not as strict as usual about manners and discipline, and responds to Master's and Baobhan Sith's blunders with a kind smile.[42]

Development[]

Creation and Conception[]

Morgan was designed by Takashi Takeuchi in Fate/Grand Order. Proper Human History Morgan's appearance in the Fate/Apocrypha anime was based on Takeuchi's first draft design for her in Fate/Grand Order. Her face then was covered with a veil because they didn't want her design to be too memorable yet in case they revised it, but the veil later influenced Lostbelt Morgan's Winter Queen costume.[2]

Kinoko Nasu had originally planned on using Proper Human History Morgan in FGO, but the art which Takeuchi presented to him didn't match the kind of personality that Proper Human History Morgan had. “You’re telling me…this aloof beauty is that debauched, sly, scheming witch…?” And so Nasu decided to come up with Lostbelt Morgan, and conceptualized how the story would change with her as the ruler of Fairy Britain instead.[43]

Morgan's weapons were designed by Shimokoshi.[2] The design of the spears in her attack animations first appeared in Fate/unpublished material, where they were used as part of Tachie's Noble Phantasm Lord Camelot.[44]

Morgan's alias in the Fae Era, "Aesc" in the official English localisation and "トネリコ (toneriko)" in the original text, both have the meaning of "ash tree" in Old English and Japanese respectively.

Comments from Illustrator[]

"While preparing the project proposal for part 2, I drew a draft of her and ArCas together, and it was solidified since then that this was how I wanted to design her. The concept for her was pretty much exactly what you're seeing on the screen: a witch resembling Artoria. I aimed for some soft contrasts... Dark but almost invisible, cold but seductive. My favorite spots are the spikes on her 3rd Ascension's throat and chest. Morgan's first appearance was in Fate/Apocrypha's anime, and her design there was a remix of my first draft. We covered her face with a veil there because we couldn't have that version of the design look too memorable, but later we reflected that element on her Winter Queen design. Since she's a character who doesn't change her face much, I paid extra detailed attention to the emotions expressed through her eyes when finalizing her sprites. Shimokoshi did her weapons. He designed many versions to fulfill my request to make her feel heavily armed and overwhelming." (Takashi Takeuchi)[2]
