Name translation[]

Devil is 悪魔, akuma, so it's quite wrong.

This Saber's name is 魔神セイバー, the reading is also "Majin" (like Majin Archer), but the kanji is different. Instead of "demon" and "person", it's "demon" and "god", so a better translation is Demon God Saber. Sandubadear (talk) 23:16, March 23, 2015 (UTC)

I just made the thing via the link on the Koha-Ace page, and even then it got redirected from Demon Saber to Devil Saber, so I dunno man, I'm not a translator. Hawkeye2701 (talk) 23:21, March 23, 2015 (UTC)

Technically it is correct. While 悪魔 can be translated as Devil, it can also be translated as demon, fiend, Satan and evil spirit. Back to 魔神, it can be translated as devil, evil spirit and genie.Nikonu (talk) 23:30, March 23, 2015 (UTC)

No, Genie is 魔人 (Majin, but with the "person" kanji). 魔神 can mean devil, but the "top boss" devil, which is usually a demon god. So while it is still technically correct, it would be confusing so I think "Demon God" won't leave any doubts. Sandubadear (talk) 23:44, March 23, 2015 (UTC)

I think you're confused with 魔人, I'm not sure how you've translated 魔人 as genie. Genie can be translated as 魔神 or 精霊. Depending on the subject, 魔人 can translated as Demon or Warlock and Magus.Nikonu (talk) 23:59, March 23, 2015 (UTC)
Japanese speaking person here, I think both of you are just playing comparing dictionaries because if you at least played some JRPGs in Japanese before 悪魔、魔神、魔人 are used very, very, very interchangeably but here's the differences.
悪魔("Akuma" literally "bad/evil devil")mention to demon in broad term, basically like how "angel" is a broad classification. CAN mean devil as in Satan, but is generally considered too broad to be a label for the single identity of Satan. Example includes how R-78 Gundam or Takamachi Nanoha is called 白悪魔 translated to "White Devil" as in "that white thing we really, really hate" but never in the context of "White Satan".
魔神("Majin" literally "devil god")often refers more to the context of Satan or some other evil/dark/twisted divine beings like Lovecraftian Dieties(though to be technical, those are classified as 邪神 which literally translates to "evil god", see how messy this is getting now?).
魔人("Majin" literally "devil person")DOES often infer to the context of Genie, such as ランプの中の魔人(Ranpu no naka no MAJIN AKA Genie in a lamp), not to mention that most translation of Arabian texts DO call Genies as 魔人 and NEVER 魔神 unless it refers to the top boss Djinns such as Angra Mainyu(the original one, not Avenger) and 精霊 is just way off because it refers to "spirits" in general, in terms of Undine, Slyph, Gnome, etc.
Personally I would go for "Devil Saber", not only because it sounds smoother than "Demon God Saber", but also for the sake of differentiating from 魔人アーチャー.
Btw magus, warlock, wizard is 魔導士、魔法使い、魔術師(interchangeably, differing for each uses, for example Final Fantasy uses all 3 only in different titles, see example in this very damn Nasuverse) and even if "witch" is indeed 魔女("Majo" literally "devil woman"), it doesn't mean that the genre neutral form of the word "devil person" mean "magic using person" so please don't bring more words in to make this even more of a mess than before.
