Not really sure, but I think the source saying that an average magus has 25 is from one of the fate materials, while the one about Ciel may be from somewhere else. Blame the creators, not us. We just take whatever they write and put it here. [[User:Sandubadear|Sandubadear]] ([[User talk:Sandubadear|talk]]) 20:06, June 29, 2015 (UTC)

So yeah, I just went with "prana" in the end, because I'm not writing that "mana is both mana and something else". The articles that are copied from Wikipedia, I reckon, need to have their reference changed to "prana" instead of "mana" for most of them. That said, copying the definitions given in the Fate/stay night prologue by Rin would be handy as well. Byakko 17:21, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Just so I don't make any stupid mistakes: When people usually casually write "mana", what they mean is this (maryoku), right? But "mana" is actually something else? So we can't just redirect mana here, but should write at least a short article? And that "something else" would be "Od" (arai's article on fuyuki is giving me a headache), so we'd need an article on that as well? --Grm wnr 13:49, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
Most articles say "mana" and mean "prana" yes. Well, they mean "mana" in the common term, but that would be indeed maryoku in Nasu word. If they're referring to the natural energy only, that's mana in Nasu word. It would theorically need to be fixed case by case, but it's more than likely that everything copied from Wikipedia really means prana in Nasu word.
Redirecting mana here doesn't work since there actually is mana in Nasuverse, precisely (there would be no reason to use prana instead if there wasn't) but the article about mana, if it gets done, will of course reference to this here at the very top. And yes, the "something else" is od (odic force). Energy in nautre = mana, energy generated by humans = od. "The difference between nature energy and human energy is just that" (that one is of nature and the other is of humans). Byakko 20:54, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Prana embedding info?

I realise that jewel magecraft can be vague for a reason but I'll ask anyway. Can only Od be imbeded in jewels or is any prana fine? If so it shouldn't take Rin 10 years to fill 20 jewels (I read somewhere that it was 5000 prana each) with her magic circuits.

Rin does not charge the gems like you charging your cellphone. The process is quite elaborate and convoluted, involving Rin soaking the jewel in her blood and casting spells. Shirou caught her in the middle of the process somewhere in the VN. If you really want to know, look for it.Waifu slayer (talk) 04:42, October 4, 2013 (UTC)

Power Levels

Im trying to understand the magic system of Fate Series and try to judge the raw power levels of people (which is really hard) and I see this...

  • Average matured magus: 25 units of magical energy (Fate).
  • Ciel: 100 times the amount of a magus based on an average magus having 40, giving her over 4000.

Is it just me or do these two statements seem to brutally contradict each other? or is this just a case of incompatable diffiring sources? Becuse It looks like it should read:

  • Average matured magus: 25 units of magical energy (Fate).
  • Ciel: 100 times the amount of a magus based on an average magus having 25, giving her over 2500.
