This doesn't have anything to do with the Extra version of Tamamo no Mae.

On the translation

There isn't really anything wrong with the translation, but is there any reason why you felt it was necessary to replace the previous translation?

Actually NM, whoever added the previous entry tampered with the original translation.

Stuff on translation again

Eternal Blooming Cleavage Great Killing Field -> Don't think so. A sakkai isn't a "killing field". It's an astrology term for a major turning point period. http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/殺界

Emperor Toba -> He wasn't an Emperor anymore. He was retired.

I was aware on the matter of the sakkai, since I did some research while translating. The thing is, there is no definite translation for the term in English since such a thing does not exist in the Western culture. The Climacteric that was used previously is indeed the closest equivalent, but ultimately the two are still different concepts altogether. As for Toba, the original text in Japanese still referred to him as the Emperor, so I kept it like that. Maybe this is another one Nasu's retcons. --Libra00 14:04, November 29, 2010 (UTC)
Then call it by the Japanese name because "Killing Field" isn't representative of what it is at all. Also, the original Japanese has 上皇 which certainly does not mean reigning emperor. http://dictionary.goo.ne.jp/leaf/jn2/108275/m0u/上皇/
Yes, because Nasu is known to be historically accurate in all ways. Considering who Caster is "Killing Field" is actually entirely appropriate even if visually it doesn't look like that. Expecting spells and Noble Phantasms to be visually representative of their names in all ways is kind of silly. As for Emperor Toba, it does look like Nasu decided to creatively edit Tamamo-no-Mae's story.

Skills List

Would someone fluent in Japanese be able to provide a full list of Caster's skills (ie, in-game spells, not Servant skills)? I can provide the English list, if someone can add the original Japanese names after them. I ask because Fate/Extra's translation, while amazing, lost a lot of nuances to it, and went as far as renaming Noble Phantasms, and I would be curious to see what the skills were originally called.

Curse: Fiery Heaven (damage, stun vs break) - 呪相・炎天

Curse: Frigid Heaven (damage, stun vs attack) - 呪相・氷天

Curse: Chaos Heaven (damage, stun vs guard) - 呪相・密天

Mantra: Apothic Cave (guards against one skill and absorbs mp from it) - 呪層・黒天洞

Mantra: Bestial Sky (~doubles damage of next spell) - 呪層界・怨天祝祭

Mantra: Merciful Sky (~triples damage of next spell) - 呪層界・怨天祝奉

Land of Eternal Bane (heavy damage, causes poison, requires hp <30% to use) - 常世咲き裂く大殺界

Breath of the Soul (regain 10% mp after every fight) - 魂息吹

Noble Phantasm: Eightfold Blessing of Amaterasu (shortened to Blessings of Amaterasu); makes all spells cast after it, for one round, cost no mana. Requires having used nine skills beforehand to activate.

Resemblance to Kasane Teto

Is it just me, or does she look a little bit like Kasane Teto from Vocaloid? I'm not acusing anyone of anything. I'm just curious what people think.

Caster's Alignment

How in the hell is this Caster, Neutral Evil, I know that the Heroic spirit's legend sounds villainous, but the Tamamo-no-Mae in this game is a sweet, happy-go-lucky little girl, whom is cheerful friendly and who clear shows that she is against all the other evil villain like Epic Heroes in the Moon Cell Grail Wars. Besides if she is on of the MC's Servents, should she at least come under the True Neutral alignment or at least Chaotic Neutral alignment. I mean where is the evil coming from people?

Caster's truth form is the Nine Tail Fox. In Nasuverse, the Nine Tail Fox is one of the greatest monster/scourge of Japan. The "sweet girl/wife" you see is only a small aspect of Caster. Waifu slayer (talk) 03:05, February 21, 2014 (UTC)
Neutral Evil usually alignment that symbolize independency. In way that their true alignment is always themself. Those in this alignment is not always necessary evil, but they are willing to do anything to reach their desired ambition... This is quite accurate on Casko if I have to say... while she looks all cute she hides deep secret inside her... Dainsleaf (talk) 17:02, April 2, 2014 (UTC)
I admit the evil alignment is a bit much, but since historically she was viewed as a villain, she is considered to be a villain and thus under the evil alignment. Believe me I'm as sad as Hell here too because Ilike her too and view her as a hero, BUT sadly we all can't be correct about our views. Also I just realise how the views of others can actually effect the alignments of other characters.
Think about it you know how the Mainstream Gilgamesh in the Nasuverse is aligned as Chaotic Good, even though his actions and personality is more of someone who is Chaotic Neutral boardering Lawful Evil and sometimes shifting to just plain Chaotic Evil (the worst of the worst). Well this is mostly because humanity has always glorified him and viewed and portrayed him as a Hero, and of course they somehow sympathise with him, this has resulted in him ultimately being under the good alignment, although chaotic.110.159.184.9 03:21, April 20, 2015 (UTC)
He has a point there, character's alignments of thend to change and vary depending on the views of others. This explains why characters like Caster are regarded as evil despite being a good and heroic character and why Characters like Gilgamesh are regarded as good despite clearly being Evil Villains. Heck did you know some people have even claim Rin Tohsaka was evil. It all has to do with peoples views.113.23.131.2 06:45, June 17, 2015 (UTC)
True, although I think for Rin's case it is because she actually actively shows her more sinister side. Either that or people are still sticking to the fact that the character was originally a villain in the Prototype verion of Fate/stay night. Palantian (talk) 07:18, June 17, 2015 (UTC)

Casko's character song

I need some translation or Romaji on Her character song...

it is titled something like this: 花嵐ノ記

It might be read as "Hana Arashi no Ki", but I am not too sure... can anyone help me on this? thanksDainsleaf (talk) 17:03, April 2, 2014 (UTC)

Fox or Jackal?

Maybe it's the English translation, but when asked about what she is, Caster says alternatively that she is a fox and a yakan (jackal).  And, after directly comparing herself to both, says she isn't those things.

Is she both?  Neither?  Some clarification would be helpful.

She explains it in game. She is a jackal, but since ancient Japanese folks have no idea what a jackal is, they labeled her a fox and she decided to go with that. That's the gist of it.--Otherarrow (talk) 15:01, August 24, 2014 (UTC)
In a sense, Amaterasu was mixed up with Buddhist diety Dakini-ten during medieval times, who was symbolized by Indian Jackals, hence why she and by extension Castor have jackal-like features, however since Ancient Japanese never seen a jackal they believe Dakini-ten/Amaterasu was a fox, and since Divine Spirits are influenced by human belief Castor become kitsune.
